  • After a years and half of use and carry, the Ganzo G720 is still an amazing knife for the money. At Under R1000 this is a beast of a knife.
    NERD SCALES:
Edge Retention 6/10 - Not bad for 440C
EDC Carry 6/10 - Maybe a little too big for some
Maintenance 8/10 - Easy enough to maintain
Edge Maintenance 9/10 - Super Easy to sharpen
    Love Factor 7/10

I don't have a problem with thick stock, as long as they pair it with a hollow grind and broad blade.

Not 1.....not 1 of those knives you have "carried" look like anything but drawer princess's .
I dont see ANY evidence of sharpening on any of them.
How do you "carry" a knife for a year and not sharpen it?
    YOU DONT !

EVery one of these have been sharpened except for the Cold Steel. They have also been polished sort of once per month.

@@KnifeToolNerd Respectfully, I am skeptical like @Orlosthedruid is. I would be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt on your claim that the knives have been sharpened and polished even if the video evidence doesn't support that for me. However, your video states that this is a year and half long term review of this knife, but you first posted buying it back in September 2022, which is 10 months, 5 days before this video. When you start off with such a glaring discrepancy, I struggle to believe that what I see with my own two eyes is something other than what my experience tells me. I have watched both videos and compared the edge on this knife back in the original video, as well as this video. I don't see evidence of sharpening beyond the original factory edge and definitely not polishing, unless our definitions of polishing are very different. I also don't see any carry wear on the knife overall. I owned numerous 440C knives growing up (I am 50) before the super steels came out and I can tell you for a fact that daily use of a 440C blade, even with a great heat treat, means consistent sharpening. Consistent sharpening means removing material from the blade, and you don't keep your blade looking factory new when you remove as much material as a year of use on a 440C blade requires to keep it sharpened. I suspect that the difference in opinions here has to do with your definition of "use" vs. that of others.

@@lynnjr457 You are spot on at the end. All the rest unfortuantely talks to ones opinion and ones own experiences based on their use of carrying for a year. Also one would need to be able to distinguesh on when a video is edited to upload vs when it was shot. Only the last 4 months have seen videos in almost realtime. In the past sometimes 6 months between shooting editing and uploading. :-) Cheers. Have a good day and thanks for the comment.

    I'm not comfortable with Ganzo.
Their company intro blurb describes the process of copying other successful knives and profiting from that. Yes the knives are good, agreed. BUT they should be, based on the process this company uses of copying great designs yes. The g720, yes it should be a great outdoor hard user, the 440C is going to make touch up sharpening easy in the field and the cost means guilt free beating.
But. The cost is integrity. Some are more comfortable with that than others.
Also It's NOT a button lock, it's an axis lock variation, and Ganzo's execution of it is not great

If the knives they duplicate weren't so insanely overpriced, you might have a point. As it is, Ganzo is helping people not get ripped off and I love them for it. I buy all of my knives from Ganzo exclusively now.

some of the original knife cost me around 600-1000 local money(ridiculous amount) due to exchange rate. this cheaper knife is such a blessing.
the thing is, people that get Ganzo most likely will never consider buying the actual copied knife, theyre not losing money.
