Lugansky is a wonderful pianist. Not a "prima-donna", but a solid musician, with great technique and great depth in his musical vision. Thanks for sharing this amazing concert in such a dark period.
Oh my God! At the climax of Sonata 109, he was in with all power. But there was not a single wrong note! And it's a live performance. I couldn't believe it at first, so I watched this several times. Call that artistic and technical perfection!
I've heard these pieces played by Nikolai in a dozen concert halls all over the UK and in Europe. Every time it's followed by a thunder of applause. It must be so strange and disturbing to hear only silence and the echo of footsteps. Bravo Nikolai and thank you. As soon as you are travelling again I will be booking tickets!!
Sergei Rachmaninov - Preludio en do menor, op.23 No.7 8. Sergei Rachmaninov - Preludio en re mayor, op.23 No.4 9. Sergei Rachmaninov - Preludio en sol menor, op.23 No.5 10. Johann Sebastian Bach - Coral de la cantata 147, BWV 147
In my opinion, a wonderful performance throughout the concert. Absolute perfection! And also a memory, for the future, of these tragic days and an exemplum of the care that music can donate. THANK YOU!

I wish Lugansky would do more Bach. He studied with Nikolayeva who was legendary with Bach, I wonder how good Lugansky could be. And please do Brahms 1, I know he wants to, I am dying to hear his take
Lugansky, for me, is one of the great pianists of modern times - yet - this Beethoven, seems to me just too rounded at the corners - too softly tapered off at each phrase ending. Beethoven playing, I think, must be carved out of granite - sharp edges, and not too smooth or subtle, as one would execute a work of Chopin's. Altogether too much dynamic shading and rubato for my taste.

Words can't describe how wonderful Lugansky's playing is. We can only be grateful for such a superlative musician.
More and more Nikolai Lugansky is going to be the best pianist of the world - in every sense you can imagine.

@bill Bloggs Hello Bill, Thank you for your corrections... Sorry for my poor english knowledge...
Beautiful concert with a superb pianist. Thanks for posting.
Impeccable recital. A very solid musician (pianist). I particularly enjoyed César Franck's Prelude, Fugue, and Variation in B minor. Bravo!!

Jesus that first Rachmaninov prelude is perfection.
Fantastique démarche. Merci infiniment :)
