I have to admit I am a little disappointed you guys did all these great improvements without sharing. I know a lot of your followers subscribe for the travelogue aspect, but I have always watched because I love the way you guys have tackled and improved Uma along the way. I just bought a 2002 Beneteau 331 because you two convinced me to stop dreaming and do. So perhaps instead of a girls night thing with Kika, a Friday "Dan's boatworks" segment? I'd up my patreon for that programming. I have so much to do, and watching you two blaze a trail gives many of us the confidence to do our own work. |Thank you for what you do, please don't forget about us boat fixers as you finish fixing yours. :-)
I must agree. More "Dan+Kika+powertools please. LOL. I bet plenty of folks FF through the sailing and repair bits for the sightseeing parts. I am just the opposite. The sail across the Atlantic was such a blast. And they both obviously know structures and materials. I love the places they visit, but the journey and trials I find vastly more interesting. Glad they do these, all of them. Happy sailing PW! And post some pics of your work as well!!!
Watching you two sail is like watching a well oiled machine. Add to that a gorgeous mane and infectious laughter and you get one helluva video! Great job.
These videos are a great mix of; how to be a good sailor, how to be a great couple, and how to be a great human. Love to you both from Asheville, North Carolina
Dutch french fries with Joppie saus xD, what a nice way to leave us! It seems I was right on time to spot your yacht two weeks ago ^^. Have a safe journey, Iceland is beautiful!
Can I just say I love how much Dan loves Kika's hair! As a curly-haired woman myself it's a struggle I have no idea how you manage it on a boat Kika but you do and I respect that!
I've lived most of my life on Terschelling ) my picture is from there), the island next to Vlieland. Nice to see you sail some extremely familiar waters. Good call to anchor there, the entrance to the marina can be very hard with those currents. When you sail north following the North Sea coast these days you'll have beautiful weather, but don't forget it's a huge shipgraveyard there with hundreds of wrecks, those are some extremely dangerous waters due to potentially very high winds pushing big waves across long distances on to invisible shallows, getting even the largest container ships in trouble. Keep an eye on your depth sounder when you are outside shipping lanes as the sandbars are constantly moving and maps are outdated quickly. But also: some historical naval battle were fought there and the maritime history of the place is amazing with explorers starting their circumnavigations from the exact spot you're anchoring now, like Tasman, Hudson and Barentsz. Though there weren't any locks then and the salt water started at leaving Amsterdam. Fleets anchored at Vlieland and Terschelling those days, waiting for favorable winds. So you are part of history now!
Your drone footage adds SO much to giving a wider, larger, deeper perspective to your videos. And in spite of the anxiety levels amidst much other complexity..... Thank you for another great video. Your drone up-skilling is offering tremendous returns.
Love the hair! Holland is beautiful. But you know what?, grocery stores look exactly the same all over the world. You boat is looking better and better. But you know there was a lot to be said about your Port-a-boat days. :) In the old days two new winches would have been a few episodes and you budget for a month!
My favorite parts: "its only a race if we're winning" - LOL!.. and the hair. Love the hair! Kika's hair is so amazing, I love it. But also you two look so comfortable managing the boat and so competent in all you need to do. I'm so impressed with all you've learned and how good you are at it. Yeah. I specially hate those begging for patrons on the begining of each video, and then showing off their half a million /or higher/ euro ride, or pfishing with long exposures of scantilly clad female crewmates, (not offended in any way, but bikini clad girls on a boat/beach/trek are a dime a dozen in every warm, summery location video, good and instructional sailing and voyaging videos, OTOH, are few and far between) ... Uma is an honest boat, she is way way better now, with loads/years of hard work of both Dan and Kika. Also some great features now, instant power on the screw, nicely rearranged salon, head ... So yeah, I'm enjoying this one and very few others.

Nice one with the top down furling Spinnaker. A great addition. It’s so safe not having to go up on deck to recover it (as that usually happens when the wind changes direction or things are going “tits-up” and you don’t want to be up on deck then). I installed one on my boat 2 years ago and have never got so much use out of the kite because it’s so easy to deploy and kill off.
I'm saving up to do just this. I hope to be ready to buy a boat in 5 years, unfortunately I don't make enough money to get a decent nest egg any quicker than that. I could but a boat now but I want to have enough money saved to know I can sail for several years without having to worry about money, I'm hoping by the time I run out I'll have found a few ways to make money while sailing doing boat work or something.

The Netherlands is such a beautiful place. It is so clean there as is most of Europe. I really enjoyed my time when I lived in Germany in the late 80's early 90's. I got to travel and see so much of it. Would love to go back again and visit those places again. Nice to see Uma sailing free again.
I think it's so Awesome that you guys are here in the Netherlands! 😍 But are you sure you'll be leaving because "Groningen" is way better then Amsterdam! 😂🤞🏼 Btw great quote "it's only a race if we're winning"

Well done Kika on piloting through the locks. Surprised you had not tried chips and sauce before now. I lived near Broekerhaven and used to visit Enkhuizen and sometimes they would have stalls selling hot smoked eel. I loved them. Keep safe and always have water under the keel.

I love Kika's hair! Good job, Dan!
Love your hair honey. Love your sailing. God Bless.
The Netherlands is such a beautiful place. It is so clean there as is most of Europe. I really enjoyed my time when I lived in Germany in the late 80's early 90's. I got to travel and see so much of it. Would love to go back again and visit those places again. Nice to see Uma sailing free again.
Kika! Such language. Your a true salty sailor now. 🍺
🤭
😃i love that hair and he was of course too😃auspicious winds.
I think it's so Awesome that you guys are here in the Netherlands! 😍
But are you sure you'll be leaving because "Groningen" is way better then Amsterdam! 😂🤞🏼
Btw great quote "it's only a race if we're winning"
Nonono, im sorry, but the best place is Utrecht. ( :D :D Who gives a flying f... which city? :D This is a lovely country, after five years i still like to live here, even tho i never had a dream of living here, it was always Australia, and the UK for a while, but since ive arrived, never felt the urge to leave it. Just a general urge to sail around the world, what i still have to satisfy.)
Well done Kika on piloting through the locks. Surprised you had not tried chips and sauce before now. I lived near Broekerhaven and used to visit Enkhuizen and sometimes they would have stalls selling hot smoked eel. I loved them. Keep safe and always have water under the keel.
Ma'am can you watch your language? There's sailors around here.... lol!
🤣🤣🤣
Talk your talk freebies
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how affectionate you two are with each other, and how well you work together while sailing.
