Around the time you were doing that , I was unloading a larger Honden lathe off a trailer by myself and it almost tipped over on me. It is nice to have a helper with heavy toys!
Come for the flexures, stay for the woodworking :) Your videos are great in general, I like the mix of timelapses and context/explanations, it's super entertaining and informative!
Pretty dope . Happy I ran into the videos . It’s a weird feeling when your on to something . Problem solve from design, build and enjoy!! I also love how you express and explain what your mind is doing throughout the video .
After watching listings in my area for over a decade, I finally scored a 12" Cratsman/Atlas lathe yesterday. Your stand looks like the perfect solution for my needs. I really enjoyed your technique for using scraps for your drawer bottom. I'm going to have to keep that in mind. I've also never seen that style of caster. I'll have to try to find some.
that is a very nice lathe! I have one that is very similar to that, its a champion blower and forge lathe model 9L which unfortunately is very rare, so i cant find any replacement parts for it, so im in the process of building a counter shaft mound and motor mount, and attaching those somehow to the stand. It's really great seeing old lathes like this, and people using them, they are works of art!
Nice job! I have the TH42. I put my lathe on one of those 48" wide Harbor Freight rolling cabinets., which although not ideal, has worked out pretty well.
I hope there will be future vids on this lathe, especially on the work you need to do on it :D Got access to exactly the same model, and it is rather tired, so I will likely be working on it someday soon. I thought it looked familiar...
Excellent, looks very rigid indeed !. I'm curious if being on casters it may tend to want to move around when the motor is on .. if so consider just cut some 2x4 to form some wedges you can kick on the gap between the floor and the frame, that will hold it, and they are easily kicked out again when you next want to move it
Hey Amy, just discovered your channel, instantly subscribed. Please, please, please take care of your hair while working with rotationary tools and machinery. Keep up the great work!
Looks like you hit what you were aiming at. Guessing from the two assemblies you said would need servicing, you've got some excessive backlash to deal with?
i really enjoy the video Amy, if you are at a loose end i could use your skills on my house renovation in Ireland! the pay is light but the cracks good. thanks again
So creative in making this. Glad your finger didn't get broken at 7:06! Just curious. Building the lathe table, did you draw up plans, or just built as you went?
Nice job and great find! I've been looking for a metal lathe but they just don't seem to materialize in my area, so I bought a new one. Two questions: Where did you get the casters and how is your lathe bench holding up under that Atlas after a year of use?
I haven’t actually been using the lathe much, but I mean, this bench is going to last a long time. Casters were from eBay, tons of sellers basically selling the same thing.
Hey, please make more videos! You have a really nice way of explaining stuff, and your enthusiasm is infectious.
RUclips algorithm...oh what's this?... Wood working and diy and lathes and...how did you know?!? Great work Amy!

Ahhh, no kidding!! Be safe!
Great job ! I also have an Atlas lathe and you won't believe how much you will use it. Good luck and be safe.
Nice cart! Awesome you made it all from scrap. Congrats on your new toy! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

i don’t understand any of what you’re doing but it’s relaxing
I think you're "Brilliant!!" I wish you were here to help me with some of my odd projects, I'd get a lot done with your skills and knowledge. "Bravo!
Really nice job. Gives me hope for getting some space back if I can roll this behemoth out of the way.
💪
Very nice work! I have all of my grandfathers Atlas machines from Kalamazoo, Mi. Good old tools!
Nice your videos make me want to break out the power tools and build things.

Yass! Those are my absolute favorite casters! This came together magnificently.
The RUclips Algorithm got me here and i love it. Such a nice channel 😁

Nice video. Great stand. Nice engineering. Love the tip to reinforce drawer slides. 80/20 great place for gooseneck lamp too. : ) Mahalo for sharing!
Great build!👍
Amy, you’re amazing.
Wonderful ingenuity.

Nice stand. If you use wood glue on the joint it will add stiffness. 👍🏻
7:00 Dude! This part was scary. Oh man.... I'll leave it as that. Hahaha
I hope there will be future vids on this lathe, especially on the work you need to do on it :D Got access to exactly the same model, and it is rather tired, so I will likely be working on it someday soon. I thought it looked familiar...
Nice old machine, I'd love a lathe but no room unfortunately. The cart turned out real good.
Keep the content coming! This was great to watch.
Wow you have some amazing tools in that shop.
Amy, you are amazing!

Awesome video!
That looks just like a lathe I trained on 40 years ago

incredibly satisfying

Nice build. I've got a similar old Atlas lathe, but my stand is much inferior.
i really enjoy the video Amy,

Ha! I’m also happy to have intact fingers :) I mostly just built as I went.

Wow. That's genius and confidence in knowing what you're doing. Pretty cool.
You might want to service the spindle also.
scary shit with the finger dude! I'd love to see an aluminum frame filled-epoxy stand.

I rebuilt that same lathe.
Cool toy
