Rewatching this. Wow what a difference to what they made of it and looks like today. A monument of what hard work, creativity and inspiration can do. I so admire Terrys vision , and the teamwork everybody in the whole family put in to it. It takes a special kind of people to take on this kind of project .
I was in France in 2017 and helped work on a chateau, in its restoration. So fun. I loved cleaning the windows to a pristine clarity (sometimes employing razor blades to get off years of scum, paint, hard water) and it started to dazzle the rest of the crew and occupants. Putting plaster onto walls and trowling the flat planes was something I am skilled at too, as well as a good hand at painting. But oh, the gardens! I think I’d get some huge dahlia gardens going on such an estate, which would wow visitors.
I like to imagine myself going about the chateau sweeping out the cobwebs, washing windows, vacuuming and scrubbing the paneling. Then I move on to the really fun part, groundskeeping! Pulling weeds, cutting brush and pruning shrubs and trees! It’s the stuff dreams are made of!!! Johanna USA
Crowded by the ghosts of the long forgotten dead. The sound of running feet on the top floor with children’s laughter. Gob smacked. What a jewel. No spray paint. No vandalism: says a lot about the the character of your neighbors. Your video discovery is a credit to RUclips.
*My third time re-watching the full interior tour of the chateau and I keep shaking my head that so much still survives for one of these chateau that was abandoned for so long! So glad that some nefarious characters didn't strip it of it's interior architectural treasures as so many had been. Being slightly remote must have helped greatly! Again, best wishes to this family!*
I wonder if viewers realize that that craftmanship will never be duplicated again on such a scale. I hope you'll be able to preserve much of the patina which is the most difficult thing to accomplish! Most would strip or paint over magnificent patina! The best wishes for your success!
Sorry - I'm one of those 'painters' - I hate dark wood so much that I cannot live with it, so it has be white or cream. Georgian blue would fit too - we used that in our 1720 London house after learning that that was a favorite color of the Georgian period - not eveybody in those days used dark stain - it's too 'Dracula' for me ! But it's ok - you are safe - I did NOT buy this house (:>) !

The staircase is amazing. I can’t wait to see all the beautiful paneling restored. I think your first task would be to see if the roof is watertight. It looks like it is leaking in places and fix any broken windows. Look forward to seeing your progress on this beautiful chateau.

Beautiful Chateau. Living here in Wisconsin, home of many old 1700-1800-1900 homes. It is said that the more wood paneling, stairs, banisters etc was a sign of the "very rich". Looks like the carpet dealer was very rich....so much paneling all over. If the walls could talk what a story they have to tell. Have fun renovating, I will be watching......cheers!!!

I agree - except for one thing. You always kept the camera pointed straight out or up a little. (Except for looking down the staircase of course!) I am just as interested in details down on the floors and lower walls. I would love to see what the floors look like and any floor boards or other details like that. In one of the bathrooms you went in to you could only see a bit of wall and mirror straight ahead of the camera. You never got to see a single fixture.

From all the comments here as of 05/16/2021 there is going to be a real war over that panelling - I'm a paint-the-panellling fan, and they DID do that in the 1700's - see my other comment - but obviously the owners will do what they prefer !

Maybe if you could do a floor plan so that we can get a little better understanding of room size as the videos make it hard to tell. I agree that it must have been truly magnificent when it was built. All of that wood panelling is going to look fantastic once it's looked after. Not sure about anyone else, but I'd really enjoy seeing how you rewire and replumb the place as well as the restoration bits needed.
This place seems in such better condition that many 200 year old homes. I guess the roof did not leak excessively. What a time capsule. The amount of paneling is remarkable. What a place this must have been in its (original) time. I'm glad it was not damaged by the events of WW2 as there was heavy fighting through this area in 1944.
What a charm the house has inside and then what it can be wow. to be jealous of my respect. And that wood in the house, leave it like that and make it a little cleaner and brighter than what it is now and you have a pearl.
This is definitely a labour of love for the whole family and I can’t wait to see the progress you make. It’s a stunning chateau and the staircase is an absolute gem but at this stage, I’d say good luck, you’re gonna need it. Waiting in anticipation for an update. Sending much love from Wirral, UK
🇨🇦 I loved this chateau from the start. I love the design and architecture, the round tower and the potential of it all. Plus it is not to big, Some of these chateaus are a ridiculous size. However, as we are being shown around it all looks so derelict, with so much work to do. I am not sure I could get involved in it, but oh I love that staircase ❣️😍
I never had the occasion to visit the insides of this place, quite impressive indeed. As someone who used to be a lalacellois when I was a child, I wish you good luck in your journey
We look at places like this and are smitten by what they must have looked like, and what it will look like as these new owners bring her back to life. I am always amazed that at one time previous owners experienced this every day they lived here.Did that staircase leave them speechless whenever they climbed it. Did they see the front steps and think, “How grand to live here!” Did they envision renos as easily as we do? Did they take it for granted? I hope not! What an amazing project ahead of you! Love what you have shown so far. All the best from Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Thank you for sharing your Dream with us all. I love everything from the music, the angles, the family, the Château, the editing... everything is a dream come true.

I can picture this chateau looking beautiful but I also can’t wait to see what you boro boys do to the outside. Best wishes to you all.
Thank you very much 😁
I can't wait to see how you are going to tackle this. What a beautiful place. xx
Thank you very much 🥰
What a great building, heaps of character and dry, somebody has kept the roof watertight and saved the interior 😊
Thank you very much 🥰
Oh wow! Simply beautiful. Only discovering this channel now and delighted I’ve a year of vids to binge watch.
Thank you very much, yes unfortunately the château does need a lot of work but she is so beautiful we just had to save her ❤️❤️
Oh.. wow!! So neat to see inside this chateau. Congratulations! I will enjoy the ride watching the old lady come back to life.
Thank you very much 🥰
There's so much to do! Excited to see the upgrades.
Thank you very much 🥰
Wow, amazing panelling, can't wait to see what you do with the place liked and subscribed.
Thank you very much 🥰
I never had the occasion to visit the insides of this place, quite impressive indeed.
As someone who used to be a lalacellois when I was a child, I wish you good luck in your journey
Thank you very much, it is a beautiful property 🥰
We look at places like this and are smitten by what they must have looked like, and what it will look like as these new owners bring her back to life. I am always amazed that at one time previous owners experienced this every day they lived here.Did that staircase leave them speechless whenever they climbed it. Did they see the front steps and think, “How grand to live here!” Did they envision renos as easily as we do? Did they take it for granted? I hope not! What an amazing project ahead of you! Love what you have shown so far. All the best from Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Thank you very much, it is wonderful to think about it all 🥰🏰
Thank you for sharing your Dream with us all. I love everything from the music, the angles, the family, the Château, the editing... everything is a dream come true.
