Law enforcement have to operate somewhat within the law. When a person signs paperwork to send the money to a scammer or it is them, sending the money from their IP address, it makes it hard to prosecute. Most scammers are outside of the country where they scam people from. International laws make it even harder. It's very time consuming, by the time the scammer is tracked down, the money is gone & scammers sometimes go into hiding if they feel that someone is too close for their comfort in tracking them down.
Pierogi dedicates his time to one thing - thwarting scammers, wasting their time, exposing them. It's somewhat rare, however, Pierogi sometimes gets the money back.
A police force in any country has to deal with so many different crimes other than cyber-crimes.
It's a really good thing that many RUclipsrs are doing what police have far less time to do.

Police actually have no jurisdiction over this kind of thing unfortunately. I worked in banking for a few years. If someone signs of consents to something, there is nothing law enforcement can do. Most scammers are outside the U.S and cannot do anything. Also, law enforcement in other countries don't do anything either. We do need a dedicated scammer sort of law enforcement.

When she got home from the bank, she called the scammers to use some of that credit to make a payment to them. They told her that tge card was declined. Further investigation showed that the entire balance had been cleared before she had even left the bank by a third party. Obviously, the third party is in cahoots with the scammers, but they took a stance that they would help her get that mobey back for a $1200 fee. She paid that in installments out of her social security check, which is now her only income, and her only money.

I mean they are but it’s not meant to be rude, older people are less knowledgable on newer tech also going for people who have disabilities or lack of perception. It’s why they spell things wrong and are very obvious with their scams because they don’t want the average person. They target specifically the vulnerable people

I'll wave the charges and head out there myself if needed, to tell the scammers that they have someone with them that knows the industry and can't be fooled. I wish someone was there to protect my father. They stole 10k from a 72 yo retired man that lives on the little social security he gets. They stole his savings and threatened his life and that of his family if he told anyone. By the time we found out, the money was gone. He filed a report with our local authorities and they did nothing. It saddens me deeply to see how cruel and hallow people can be, resorting to stealing from the elderly and robbing them of everything they possess out of sheer greed. I have never heard my father cry and that day was one I will never forget.

@@walkingdeadman4208 I've done everything in my power to protect him. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done two weeks before he finally came clean about the entire situation. He was scared for his life and his family. Another issue was that the money taken couldn't be tracked by the bank or authorities because my father had willingly given it to them. Or so I was led to believe.
The best way I can protect him was to educate him on what to do, what to avoid, and to always keep his family informed. I also gave him all I had in savings which covered half of his losses. He of course didn’t want to burden me for his mistakes but eventually and begrudgingly, he accepted.

You guys are the best. As the son of an 80 year old mother that has been scammed before, and a 79 year old mother-in-law that has been scammed... THANK YOU! I have been showing them these videos as a way to show them how the scams work and how to keep safe.

You are all so amazing. Thank you for what you are doing. So many of my parents friends have been scammed (the most 10,000). They are in their 80's and it is despicable how they are preyed on. You are real heroes.

My grandparents were scammed out of over $8,000 and I always felt somewhat guilty because I know I would have recognized it if I was around to hear the phone calls. Fortunately that amount of money didn’t cause them any serious issues, but not everyone is as fortunate as them.
