Thanks for the tutorials, have done this, all worked a treat exactly as you described. I made a mistake though and forgot to select 'clean all' instead of the default 'clean all and lock'. I was afraid I'd have to do everything again as I want the bootloader left unlocked for potentially rooting later on, however in Developer Options it is still showing that the device is Unlocked. What does the 'lock' part of 'clean all and lock' mean in XiaoMiFlash? Does it lock something else other than the bootloader? Is it going to cause me problems when I try your rooting tutorial? you need to get the program to recognize your phone. this may be a USB related issue. try another usb cable, or your other usb ports (all of them). maybe even figure out if you need to install the xiaomi mi ADB USB Drivers

Installing the Global/EEA ROMS will require you to keep the bootloader unlocked after flashing. This means no Google Wallet as your phone will fail the security checks for Wallet/Pay
why would you have to keep the bootloader locked? if you're installing firmware from Xiaomi then you should be able to lock the bootloader just fine. and even if you choose not to, you could install the safetynet fix magisk module to use google wallet
@@ExplainingAndroid No idea why, but it won't let it be locked if you put an non CN ROM onto a CN phone . It gives you the error on boot that the MIUI version is incompatible with the phone if you try to relock it with a non China ROM. No idea what this safety net is. Need to check it out (and how to install it)

Only thing is irritating me is that phone's bootloader will be unlocked after global roms has been install and I don't know the consequences after that ? I have read that if you change to the global ROM then you can't relock the bootloader. if you try, it could brick the phone. I haven't tested this and imo, it should be okay. . .but you will want to look into it further for the most part, it is safe to use a phone with an unlocked bootloader but you should be aware that if the bootloader is unlocked and the device is stolen, then the thief could install a custom recovery to access your data (bypassing your lock screen). the likelihood of this happening is low, even if your phone is stolen, since most people stealing phones are just wanting to wipe the data so they can sell it. but it is possible

Why did you skip most important part, how did you switch from phone to pc? I don't understand that part, you suddenly was already in the directory on pc, how did you extract each app one after the other
not right now. if they decide to release the phone globally, you can then use a global ROM (it will appear) if I were you, I would see if the community Xiaomi.eu has a ROM for your phone. it will still be MIUI but will be debloated
the global ROM I download/install in this video should only be done with the redmi note 12. but, you can use the same website I do to download the global firmware that matches your redmi note 11 5g. you'll flash it the same way as I did in this video (with mi flash tool)

@@ExplainingAndroid Thanks for your response and I realised that Redmi Note 12T Pro is not Redmi Note 12 or 12 Pro, or even Redmi Note 12 Turbo. 12T Pro doesn't have a global ROM and hence I was basically out of luck. I acquired a new Redmi Note 12 5G and the sunstore firmware is indeed the correct version. I was able to successfully flash that new redmi note 12 (and prices for the new redmi note 12 5g + 12 T Pro combined direct from China are still cheaper than buying a new redmi note 12 5g phone where I am). I just want to point out that it's best to place the firmware directory on a computer's local disk rather than any USB disk. I had timeout (which is at 700 secs) when I tried to run flash tool against my new phone. Once placed on C drive, the flash proceeded. However, I then ran into the error of "flash error: \$fastboot -s *lock failed" right at the end of the flash. It turned out that it was because I selected "clean all and lock" option option (bottom left on the flash tool) because I actually wanted to relock the bootloader so that I can install banking and google wallet programs (which don't install on unlocked phones). I thought I had bricked my new phone as I tried reboot and reflash and none worked. It turned out the only thing I needed to do was to unlock my phone again (using the mi unlock tool - which did NOT require another 168 hour wait). Once unlocked, the new phone successfully booted up. I was then able to relock the bootloader using ADB over command prompt.
When flashing i get an error at the end, but the phone reboot to the new rom. Everything work fine, but the google play protect doesn't certified my device 😢 (i keep my bootloader unlock)

That is possible if it cuts out while it's trying to flash a certain image file. Most of the time you will just have to try again, but if it fails while flashing the bootloader or something, then it could cause trouble

In the end, i decided to buy the redmi note 12 turbo 16/1Tb global edition. After all, if it ends up losing the Special Edition features, i prefer to buy the one with a better capacity, not to mention that it's also cheaper than the Harry Potter edition

not unless you can enable EDL mode (which usually requires a hardware mod by taking the back off the phone). even then, you would lose your user data in the process

this sounds like a USB related issue. which could mean you should try another USB port on your PC. . .or it could mean that you need to try another USB cable entirely (avoid charging only cables). it could also mean that you do not have the proper USB drivers installed which will require you to get them from Xiaomi
Same issues. Am having the Indian rom on my note 12 pro 5G while am in Africa, I can't used some networks that are limited to African countries. I wanna switch to the global rom, will those networks work if I switch to a global rom?
I had the same issue trying to ONLY install Google Play on my Chinese Redmi Note 12 5G. I haven't noticed any disadvantages so far. The only downside is having to unlock the bootloader (which can take days of waiting). I have a video here on the channel to walk you through all of it, though

BUt if you did set the small "Clean All" first time, the phone is locked and are NOT possible to "unlock" ANYMORE AND THE PHONE IS DEAD.... I have killed my Xiaomi 12 Pro on this... And nobody seem to have a answer for unlock that again to retry.. IST not a good software

@@ExplainingAndroid Thanks for your response and I realised that Redmi Note 12T Pro is not Redmi Note 12 or 12 Pro, or even Redmi Note 12 Turbo. 12T Pro doesn't have a global ROM and hence I was basically out of luck. I acquired a new Redmi Note 12 5G and the sunstore firmware is indeed the correct version. I was able to successfully flash that new redmi note 12 (and prices for the new redmi note 12 5g + 12 T Pro combined direct from China are still cheaper than buying a new redmi note 12 5g phone where I am). I just want to point out that it's best to place the firmware directory on a computer's local disk rather than any USB disk. I had timeout (which is at 700 secs) when I tried to run flash tool against my new phone. Once placed on C drive, the flash proceeded. However, I then ran into the error of "flash error: \$fastboot -s *lock failed" right at the end of the flash. It turned out that it was because I selected "clean all and lock" option option (bottom left on the flash tool) because I actually wanted to relock the bootloader so that I can install banking and google wallet programs (which don't install on unlocked phones). I thought I had bricked my new phone as I tried reboot and reflash and none worked. It turned out the only thing I needed to do was to unlock my phone again (using the mi unlock tool - which did NOT require another 168 hour wait). Once unlocked, the new phone successfully booted up. I was then able to relock the bootloader using ADB over command prompt.

When flashing i get an error at the end, but the phone reboot to the new rom. Everything work fine, but the google play protect doesn't certified my device 😢 (i keep my bootloader unlock)

I'm not sure, since it will depend on your wireless carrier (and which bands you use to connect to it)

That is possible if it cuts out while it's trying to flash a certain image file. Most of the time you will just have to try again, but if it fails while flashing the bootloader or something, then it could cause trouble

you most likely will lose those apps/features. but there may be a way for you to get them back (by sideloading an APK file for those options)

In the end, i decided to buy the redmi note 12 turbo 16/1Tb global edition. After all, if it ends up losing the Special Edition features, i prefer to buy the one with a better capacity, not to mention that it's also cheaper than the Harry Potter edition

not unless you can enable EDL mode (which usually requires a hardware mod by taking the back off the phone). even then, you would lose your user data in the process

this sounds like a USB related issue. which could mean you should try another USB port on your PC. . .or it could mean that you need to try another USB cable entirely (avoid charging only cables). it could also mean that you do not have the proper USB drivers installed which will require you to get them from Xiaomi

I had the same issue trying to ONLY install Google Play on my Chinese Redmi Note 12 5G. I haven't noticed any disadvantages so far. The only downside is having to unlock the bootloader (which can take days of waiting). I have a video here on the channel to walk you through all of it, though

BUt if you did set the small "Clean All" first time, the phone is locked and are NOT possible to "unlock" ANYMORE AND THE PHONE IS DEAD.... I have killed my Xiaomi 12 Pro on this... And nobody seem to have a answer for unlock that again to retry.. IST not a good software
when you say dead, you mean it no longer boots back into Android? have you tried rebooting into RECOVERY MODE, and then doing a FACTORY DATA RESET?
