  • In this video i show how to Emboss test to a cone.
In case there is a stage you don not fully understand from my screencast, I have also wrote what I have done.
Firstly I created my profile. Fully constrained it. I placed a dimension called, Distance_To_Center.
The Dimension, Distance_To_Center, is used to drive an equation later on in the screencast. Which, when the cone is changed size, will update to place the text in the correct position.
I then revolved the profile I created.
I then drew on the YZ place, and projected the geometry of the face I want the text to be placed on. Then drew lines to create a triangle.
I then created a new plane by, selecting one of the lines I created in the previous sketch, and selecting the face I want to wrap the text on to.
I then started a sketch on the plane I just created. Projected the line I needed. Then selected Centre Arc. Started from the bottom of the line, and going up. Then I placed a coincident constraint, from the centre of the arc, to the line.
Then I selected dimension, selected the arc, right click, dimension type, Arc Length.
    Placed the equation 2ul * PI * Distance_To_Center
Which calculates the cone unfolded. So the text can always be placed correctly around the cone.
I then offset the arc, so I could have another arc to place the text on.
Then I selected Geometry text. Selected position, and size of the text. Then wrote my text, and pressed ok.
Then Emboss, select profile (Text). Selected face, wrap to face. You have to make sure you have the wrap to face positioned the correct way. Else it will not work.
