Thanks for a great video series. I may have missed it, but I don’t understand what the first framing and drying session does (other than allow the hides to be rolled and stored). Why not just take the scraped hide and brain tan it?
Are you going to be doing a hair on tanning video. I would like to know how to do one like that for a cape or jacket. Very informative video's . Please keep them coming.
So as I string the deer hide up to dry, I can see grain I missed in places other than the neck, which I know I missed and was planning on dry scraping like you do Ron. Can I dry scrape the other places too?
Vanne if i have to dry scrape a neck i usually go over the whole hide lightly with the dry scraper just to clean it up and make sure that i got all the grain. Sometimes if i miss a small patch of grain i can get it off during softening with a sanding block or pumice stone.
I have a question I’m trying to use your videos to help me tan some deer skin so that way I can make clothing out of deer skin would this method help but doing so? If you can help me with some answers I would be greatly appreciate it
very clean!

Answered my own question. Got a great result using Ron’s method but without doing this step. Went from the scrape right to the brain tanning.

Will bank line be ok to use if I don't have para cord. Love your videos. Could you please do a hide with the hair on. Thanks keep the video's coming.
Bank line would work i think, just maybe a little thin and harder to work with.

@@ronnail6488 I was going to see if this process will get making a hide so I can make a pair of buckskins
This is the best process for making buckskin for clothing
Watch the last video how to smoke a deer hide. At the end I show some things that I've made from hides tanned by this method
@@ronnail6488 thank you
