    I just discovered your channel today, and I love it! I’m currently taking an ASL course, and your videos are a great way to test myself - I try to understand your signs without reading the subtitles. I’m not quite there yet, but hopefully I’ll be as fluent as you, Courtney!

    Hi guys, I'm a new subscriber and am trying to catch up on your videos. Thanks for sharing your lives with me through this beautiful language, ASL. You guys sign at the speed of lightning, ha, but I just love watching you guys sign. The most important thing for me, overall, is improving my receptive skills. Your videos help me alot with that. Thanks again.

    Awesome. Thanks for the tips. My wife is hearing and I'm deaf. I've been watching ur vlogs for about 3 days now. I love u guys. Today I thought, why not I do the same thing making RUclips video of us. It will be fun. My wife and i love to travel and go on vacation but one thing we have not done is going out of country. Have u check groupon? They got good deals for going out of country. Some include airline, hotel (or castle which is my dream) and car rental for like 500 to 700 a person for week or 2 weeks. Keep up the vlogs!

    • @OurSignedWorld
      @OurSignedWorld  6 лет назад

      You both should make VLOGS! What state do you live in?? Yeah we love groupon. I've seen their travel deals, they are great. We haven't used them before though. Maybe one day :)

      Hey I have a question.. Do you think sign language is an art form?

    • @hopenicolee7680
      @hopenicolee7680 7 лет назад

      I do think it's an art form. I'm a dancer so sometimes it feels like i'm dancing with my hands. ASL is such a visual language that you wouldn't really even have to sign words. ASL only uses around 6% of words, the rest is used in what we call our 3D signing space. (: It's an amazing language as well as the culture.

    Literally the coolest channel. I dont even know how I found you. I do wish maybe there was some talking on behalf of the girl though. Hard to binge watch your videos needing to read them all. Either way I subbed and look forward to more videos!

    • @OurSignedWorld
      @OurSignedWorld  7 лет назад +1

      We thought about that. If I sign and speak English at the same time, that is called simultaneously communicating. One language will "suffer." For example, because ASL is my second language, if I am speaking English while I am signing at the same time, my sign language will be sloppy and will have errors. This is why I chose to use sign language only. But there may be videos where I am speaking English and not signing but have CC for those who need it. we will see :) Thank you for your input.

    I just found you, guys! Love the channel! Im trying to learn ASL & this is a great way to "practice". One tinyyyyy suggestion: is kinda difficult to follow if both are signing at the same time or "signing over each other"? Haha. You look like the sweetest people! Cant wait to see more!!! 💞

    I just found your channel, I first started learning ASL 12 years ago. The college I was at, at the time had a big deaf community so I was able to get involved with that. I havent taken an ASL class in over 10 years, but my current employer does have a few deaf employees. Over the years I have been able to keep up and improve my signing skills due to my limited interactions within the community currently, and because of channels like this. I know I dont know enough to interpret effectivly, but I can hold a conversation which is nice.
    I was wondering is there any special accomodations you try to make sure is available, to accomodate Zach while traveling? And if so, how do you go about setting those up? I ask this as I am newly disabled in my own way and have yet to really travel with my current disability.

    • @OurSignedWorld
      @OurSignedWorld  7 лет назад

      Marissa Flint hey! So Zach and I have not set up any travel accommodations. I know they have Deaf groups who travel but it's typically more than we'd like to pay. Everywhere we have gone, we didn't really need any travel accommodations. Good luck to your travels! 👍🏼

    Hey I have a question.. DO you think sign language is an art form?

    • @OurSignedWorld
      @OurSignedWorld  7 лет назад

      berlin germany I will answer in a form of question first. Do you think German is a form of art?
      I think many languages are beautiful but I don't see language as a form of art. Sign language is its own language like any other language. It has syntax, grammar, and rules that are to be followed.

    • @louthe_coffee_addict7790
      @louthe_coffee_addict7790 7 лет назад +1

      I feel the same. I asked because at my school we got this question to answer, and I thought I should get some more answers. And not try to answer this question as a hearing person..

    • @OurSignedWorld
      @OurSignedWorld  7 лет назад +2

      Ayanna Pritchett hi! My name is Courtney! My husbands name is Zach:) I do talk. But when I'm with my husband we just use sign language :)

    • @kila9288
      @kila9288 7 лет назад +1

      OurSignedWorld hello! I thought so but I didn't want to say them and be totally wrong lol. Better to just apologize for not knowing them than to totally wrong and look dumb. And two other questions, 1st for Zach have you ever felt like you wanted to learn to verbally talk? I've seen some deaf people learn to verbally talk just because they wanted to. And 2nd for both of you, Do your hands get tired from the constant movement or are you just so used to it that it doesn't phase you?

    • @OurSignedWorld
      @OurSignedWorld  7 лет назад +2

      Ayanna Pritchett Great questions.
      This is Zach, I was in speech therapy when I was a kid but I am profoundly Deaf. Some people who are Hard of Hearing can learn how to speak because of their ability to somewhat hear themselves. Also, my whole family knows Sign Language, my parents and brother. I was also in a school where my teachers knew Sign Language so there was no need for me to learn to speak English. I preferred to use my time to play sports, be with friends and family and excel in my academics rather than focusing on speaking English since I use Sign Language.
      This is both of us, no, our hands never get tired :) However, I Court just started Rock Climbing not long ago, my arms get sore and tired from that! Haha

    • @kila9288
      @kila9288 7 лет назад +1

      OurSignedWorld Zach that's understandable, no need to learn English ur doing amazing without it. And to Court omg yes rock climbing will leave you sore. I've gone to a summer camp since I was 2 and they have rock climbing things there and it's hard work but a great work out! Thank you for answering! Many youtubers don't answer but it's great when they do so thank you again!
