    Back in the 2000s, I produced a Judas Priest tribute album, in which Tim did the cover of Exciter. Couldn’t have been a nicer guy or more professional. I’m glad he’s doing well, he deserves all the success in the world.

    Tim Owens is the vocalist on 2 of my favorite metal records of all time, Jugulator and The Glorious Burden. As much as I will always love Rob Halford and Matt Barlow’s recorded contributions to those groups, it’s a testament to Ripper Owens that his albums not only didn’t suck, they have a life and a personality that are absolutely unique contributions to those bands catalogs. He was never a replacement singer, he was wholly unique and the albums he recorded became their own era. Love this man, love his contributions to metal.

  • @jeffbudd7678
    @jeffbudd7678 2 года назад +11

    Tim's an awesome dude. Got Wendy Dio to send me a bunch of signed Ronnie James Dio stuff back when I was doing online radio dj-ing. Met up with him on Iced Earth's stop in Toronto on the Glorious World Tour. Hit that high pitched note in the middle of "Iced Earth" and I swear to God he held it for almost 3 minutes. One by one the band stopped playing and started laughing in amazement. Ripper simply rocks. Heart of a Killer was a fucking masterpiece. Cathedral Spires is the pinnacle of the Judas Priest song catalog. Gettysburg (1863) may be the most epic (and historically accurate) song ever composed in metal. The thing all these have in common - Tim "Ripper" Owens. Nuff said.

    What are the odds that Tim 'Ripper' Owens and Blaze Bailey were both in bands with Bane in the name and then both went on to front rival bands in the 90s. Seriously, what are the odds? Like a million to one? If this was fiction, people would criticize the author for not being very original with the band names.

      Blaze Bayley and Ripper Owens were both plucked from obscurity, both only did two albums with their respective bands, both were underrated as well as both their albums were underrated, both of them were fired to bring back the more popular vocalists that they replaced…
      It’s almost scary how similar they’re careers are.

    I unfortunately do not believe that Jon will be talking to anyone until there is a change in the oval office for fear of his plea deal being altered or changed to taking in public about what happened and what he thinks about the social issues facing this country.

    Ripper is a very close second for favorite singer for me. King Diamond will always be my number 1.
    His voice being buried in the mix in the Iced Earth - Framing Armageddon album is that much more impressive when you listen to the title track. I think the last minute of that song is why they had to bury it a bit. If they had just unleashed Tim's full power he would have caused Armageddon by shattering the Earth like a bullet through a plexiglass window when we all cranked that shit up to 11.

    Back in about late 2017 I think it was(it might have been 2018).. Tim Ripper Owens did a gig/had a jam at Frankies Pizza in Sydney Australia. It's where we all used to hangout(the local Sydney Rock/metal crowd). I knew nothing about Tim Owens at the time.. Apart from that he had done two Priest records which I had heard way back. What I'm saying is I didn't know anything about his personality.. Having not seen an interview with him over the years. So.. I went along to the gig.
    Ripper Owens took to the stage. I had no idea what to expect from him.. I was curious. He had stage presence.. Yet he was humble and professional.. Energetic and keen to Rock. The best way to describe it.. He had a laid back/calm/smooth Rockin/attitude.
    I was most impressed. He sang passionately and with incredible range and different tones.. Lows and highs. Ripper Owens seriously kicked Ass that evening. He spoke well with the crowd. At one point saying.. "Hey.. This is a just a jam.. We are just jamming". I went home that night and listened to Demolition.. A revisit. Rockin.

    Awesome job! First time I saw JP was with Ripper on the mic. Saw them at the Celebrity Theater with Flotsam and Jetsam opening here in Phoenix. They put on a great show that nigh. Ripper was a bit over the top with his name plastered all over his jacket. Found it funny as hell when you brought that up during the interview. Cool dude, love just about everything I’ve heard him on, including KK’s Priest. 🤘💀🤘

    Tim Owens and Blaze Bayley shared the destiny of the hated and publicly blamed vocalist that were brave enough to fill in for their idols. It was an unbelievably difficult task, but they did their best and nobody of them failed imho. OK Ripper was better than Blaze to be honest, but Blaze is one of the humblest guys in the business. I attended 3 of his shows here in Czechia back in 2012, 16 and 2020 and thanked him for being Blaze Bayley and for filling in for Bruce. He was touched and thanked me for this one.

    I discovered Iced Earth in high school when Glorious Burden was a year or two old, went to US army infantry OSUT at a weirdly late age (2020) and spent the "Eagle Run" (5 miles, 45mins) singing Gettysburg under my breath from memory.
    I had no idea I.E. treated Ripper that way.

    Tim Owens is a beast behind a microphone. A down to Earth guy if there ever was one. Unfortunely his career is now one of a journeyman's life going from band to band and his own one off records. I'd love to see him get rewarded handsomely for his talents. Halford may be who he is most associated with in style and range but DAMN the man can do King Diamond better than the King himself WITHOUT the falsetto. Case in point... ruclips.net/video/6AA1g_TM2Ik/видео.html
