Nice video , I am a Romanian and I wanted to tell you that polenta (which is mămăligă in our language) it's meant to not be eaten with bread. It is a traditional food that shepherds used to eat when they didn't have bread.

Romania is home to many beautiful castles and medieval fortresses, astonishing landscapes, fascinating traditions and one of the best cuisines in the world. Romania is one of Europe’s most diverse countries. There are more different kinds of environments and wildlife to see in Romania than anywhere else on the continent. You can easily learn more by watching other travelling vlogs or even travelling there yourself. Romania is a great destination for tourists, not to mention extremely cheap compared with the other countries in Europe.
We found it to be extremely affordable. However, this was back in February 2022, not sure if anything has changed in the past year. But definitely cheaper than the average European country
Cool video im happy that someone is remembers about Romania. But one thing is disturbin me is why you two eate Mici with forks and knives here in Romania we eat mici with the hands. But its ok keep going like this.
I think there are probably some vegan options in Bucharest, especially in the trendy neighborhoods, but Romanian cuisine in general has a lot of meat involved.
Yes and no. One of the main agricultural products of Romania is pork and chicken. Add to this the fact that the weather for most of the year can be quite cold and that our ancestors performed a lot of hard manual labor and you end up with a very meat oriented food culture. However, meat was not always so plentiful for the common peasant and Romania has deep religious traditions which involve a lot of fasting days and even months so we actually have some good veggie options, you just need to know what to look for. Usually asking for "mancare de post" meaning food for "Lent" (fasting) will get you vegetarian dishes. Also if you're in larger cities you will find a lot of trendy food places with vegetarian and vegan alternatives like Beyond Meat.
I should underline that nobody will try to bullshit you as it is considered a sin to deceive someone about their food being "de post" when it is actually not.

Oh, well that makes more sense!! It was quite filling 😆 thanks for the info!
awesome clip! Papanasi is not just a simple doughnut, its similar but the dough has cottage cheese inside too! :-)
That explains a lot! The texture seemed very different! It was delicious, we miss it already 😆

I visited Bucharest in 2021
Very nice country and kind people
We agree! We really enjoyed our visit!
Polenta is Italian, in Romania it’s mamaliga which a bit more firm and we eat it with brinza, goat cheese.
That must have been what it was, because we noticed the firmness! It was a really nice accompaniment to the roasted meats!
I'm kind of amazed that so much seems to have somehow survived the ravages of Ceaucescu...! Looook forward to going some day!
We really enjoyed it! Very unique place!
Ceausescu was alive almost ''a life time ago'' ...There are almost 33 years since he's gone!
He started doing the damage in the late '70s, if he'd started earlier, God help us.
The pepper is eaten gradually with the soup, not after. 😆
Ahh, that makes a lot more sense now 😂
Very cool, some of them even i didnt know and im romanian!
But you guys forgot a food called "Sarmale"
Thanks for watching! We’ll have to try some sarmale next time!
Have you ever tried Romanian food? What did you think? Let us know 👇

Bucharest sounds like a nice place to visit and possibly have a part time residence at.
We definitely thought so! Great place to spend a couple weeks!

Is Romania vegan friendly country

The variety of produce is huge, so...also if you're like me and the meat replacement is mushrooms, you'll find fresh options everywhere.
Is any of the food something you would make at home?
The tripe and pork knuckle might be a little challenging, but we want to try making the smoked pork and bean soup!
Where is sarmale
We should have gotten sarmale!!
Papanași it’s a cheesy donut
We really enjoyed it, so sweet and delicious!
7:35 that is not an invention his inner romanian from the tripe soup made him do it
😂😂😂
😂😂😂
As a romanian i don t like tripe soup it s white and it s looking so disgusting
Hahaha it does look a little strange!
I used to be like that, got into it but as a delicacy once every few months.
