As a Romanian, it makes me feel kinda proud that you guys chose to cook this particular dish out of all the plates you have tried all over the world. Well done and have a wonderful time! 🤗 (Personally I have never liked this soup. I prefer Ciorba Radauteana. But I know many love Tripe soup)
as a side note "Ciorba Radauteana" is the same as "Ciorba de burta/Tripe soup", but with chicken instead of tripe, it was invented by a woman cook for her husband
I am at work at 2am in USA, so no store open for me . And I can only get the tripe from a Mexican or Asian store.... driving 20 minutes from my house to find one
Salutari din Craiovaaaa. We are so proud of you, that from the huge array of food you have tasted across the continents, you have chosen ciorba de burta to share with your family!!! Casa de piatra si sa fiti fericiti!!!! PS And your father, did he also taste/enjoy it?
Ivana, you have officially mastered Romanian cuisine! So glad your second attempt was a success ❤! Momma Steve's reaction is priceless! The 3 of you travel vlogging will be NEXT LEVEL! Also, Steve, I see where you get your genuine reactions and expressiveness from. Love you guys!
LOL Big shoutout to my mom. And yes, can't wait for October - November. My parents, Ivana's parents and us will be going around Malaysia - Indonesia - Singapore. Ivana's parents are very familiar with the area (Ivana was born and raised in Indonesia), but my parents will be wide eyed I am sure! I am really looking forward to this :)
@@JetLagWarriors for even more success in the kitchen with that recipe, you must talk with Ivana to make the same soup(ciorba) but instead of tripe she must use chicken, mostly upper part of the foot, the pulp. With that kind of sweet tasty and soft meat, that soup will be amazing and the preparation will be much shorter because several boiling tripe is not necessary any more. The "new" recipe is called "ciorbă Rădăuțeană"(don't try to spell this at home 🤣🤣), better taste, easier to cook and close as consistency as "ciorba de burtă ". Don't forget the sour cream and the garlic. 😎💖 Enjoy!

guys, you are incredible ambassadors for Romania and the ciorba looks like it is supposed to! Small hint: the sourness is actually given by the vinegar; mashed garlic and vinegar are served on the side so that everyone can add to their own taste. And I suppose these are also used to hide a little the tripe flavour :)) Kudos to your mom for being brave enough to try this!

Funny story as a Romanian i did travel to Japan few years back before pandemic Covid and then i did try myself octopus tentacles & calamari soup and i was thinking in my head just like in this case of this mother but after my friend took me to best restaurant he knew, i did enjoy that soup more as long as i stood there..
Ivana is with no doubt an awesome cook. I'm a Romanian and never been able to go over the mental block. I tasted ciorbă de burtă twice in my life only with the tip of my tongue (and I'm over 40's). It tasted good but that was all for me. You guys are awesome and I really hope your mother really liked it. At some point I was like poor woman, she is on camera, what can she say, she just wanna be polite. I really hope she liked it and now that I've seen Canadians eating that maybe I might reconsider my mental block 🤣 You guys are awesome!

In order for the soup to be better, I recommend putting the boiled vegetables and a beef bone together with the belly. the part of bones with meat that we use is taken from the back leg of the animal gives a special taste.
Hi guys, from Bradford 😊 you did great! I'm very proud to see you're sharing Romanian dishes with your family! Tip: you can buy it pre-boiled, already cut, so get rid of the smell! We have it in our area at no-frills 😊if you think taking a trip north of Toronto, we welcome you for some Romanian food! Love you, guys ❤️

No waaaayyy!! OMG! I am also romanian and loving seeing people try out not even tasting but actually cooking traditional meals! It looks amazing!!! Well done! Romanian approved! ❤ Btw, I also don't really like the texture myself, but I love the soup itself (the liquid and vegetables). And yes, there are different ways people cook it, but as long as people like it, that's all that is important. I would 1000% wanna try your version of it! ❤
Hello, I admire you for flying to Romania again and again. Left this country thirty years ago but seeing your enthusiasm makes me so homesick. Maybe it's not as bad as I remembered years ago. .I'm so happy to see your videos and a thousand thanks for that. Best regards from Germany. Eddie..
The tripe is cheaper in Ro because it usually needs a little more cleaning, and you have to boil it for a loooong time until it's tender enough, and you boil it along with the veggies in the soup and maybe a piece of sirloin or a bone with marrow still in, for extra beef flavor. That's the basics of it... the rest of the recipe kinda differs from person to person and their own taste. Some take out all the veggies (cooked whole, not chopped) and the meat and make "salata de boeuf", some just leave the veggies in, some strain the soup, blend the veggies and re-add them to the broth for extra texture.... if you used the bone, you scoop out the marrow to leave in the soup after it's cooked... then you add the vinegar, the "dressing" of egg and sour cream (personally I found that if they're room temp when you're about to add them and then you ladle in some of the piping hot soup into the mixture, they blend in better with the finished product and don't curdle) and at the very end you add the minced garlic... but then again, that's how I make it, like I said above, to each their own. I gotta agree on the smell though... it smells bad when it's raw, it smells bad when it's cooking... but the finished product will have your stomach rumble with hunger. P.S. the yellowness generally comes from the fat of the meat/ tripe/ bone.
Wow!!! Ivana nailed it and it’s VERY hard to do a good ciorba de burta. Even me as a romanian i like 2-3 restaurants and my grandma’s only, hats off to you guys ❤️ Also your family seems amazing, hope to see them soon in Romania, we miss you guys.
