And he would usually record the whole song by himself in the studio playing every part one at a time drums, bass, keyboard and guitar then the vocals now he needed a band live to perform it but 90% of the time he was solo oh yeah he wrote all of his own songs and he produced himself Prince was his own producer

I grew up listening to Prince and Michael! Prince was my preference because he was edgy, controversial, and socially conscious! He easy mixes sex and a message in his music! His earlier music was especially sexy, with songs like I Wanna Be Your Lover, Darling Nikki, and Head! Then you have very socially aware songs like Sign of the Time and Controversy! Prince had us dancing and thinking! He’s the GOAT! 💜💜
You'll need to listen to his protégés like The Time, The Family Appollonia 6, Vanity 6, Sheila E, even the two Mazarati tracks and Sheena Easton's Sugar Walls This was all over "Urban" radio in Detroit. I'm glad you're hearing the funk Prince and not just the breakout crossover of Purple Rain. Prince was a FREAK and a genius. I hope you get to Bambi, Dancing Close and Slow, Let's Pretend We're Married... BEST GUITARIST EVER!
Prince's first 2 albums he played an instrument, recorded it, played it back while playing an other instrument and simultaneously doing vocals(lead and background) until he completed song after song, that he wrote by the way, and completed his albums. His talent was limitless. Keep going with his music. Soft and wet is my suggestion for you, from his first album.
Hi. "Prince, The Purple King, The Purple Legend, he was definitely was a musical genius." Try this one, (it's Blues) Prince - Red House [One Of The Best Live Versions] (Kostas A~171) feat Maceo Parker and Johnny Blackshire. Or Prince "If I Was Your Girlfriend, Somebody, Somebody." Just to name a few. He has so many hits. The One, The Only.
now remember he's written every note and played every instrument. that woman in the background is Jill Jones (the blonde waitress in PurpleRain), and she Jill should be acknowledged as the voice on many of the Minniapolis sound background vocals.
1999 the double album is a freakin' Masterpiece album, and this song is just one of the many highlights on it! It's all Prince (with Jill Jones as the cabbie) .... a classic timeless Prince song, and it's still SLAMMIN' in 2021 and beyond, his rhythm guitar playing here is insane! ... O(+> 4ever #GOAT ... btw, excellent reaction! :-)
I was 10 when this came out...I can remember sitting on the porch listening to this on the midnight funk association with some of the other kids in the hood... such a vibe...everybody in Detroit loves Prince.
This reaction was great! I am an older gentleman and started listening to Prince in 1979. I love it when people finally discover him! Prince is the GOAT!
Fun fact: that’s him playing all the instruments on this track. So that’s Prince playing bass, that’s Prince on drums, that’s him on keyboards/synthesizer, and that’s DEFINITELY Prince on guitar! PLEASE react to the official video for his song “America”. The official video is a live 1985 performance in France with his band “The Revolution”. You WILL NOT regret it!!! By the way he was definitely getting it on with the cab driver!😂
1999 is princes best album cause it is the cross roads between prince trying to find his sound n a man found his sound at the same time. I love 1999. That album is funky asfuck!
If you're going in this direction, I promise you're not ready! It irks me when the only song people know is Purple Rain. That was his 6th studio abum. He had 39 studio albums in total & so many others, plus songs he wrote for others and played on uncredited. He was very generous with his time and money with millions to music programs in schools (loved kids), gave Spike Lee millions to finish She's Gotta Have It and Malcolm X, always gave $$ and coats for the homeless in every city, and gave all the proceeds to Freddie Grays Family when he went to their city to do a concert to calm the city after he was killed by police. He was socially conscious & tremendously intelligent beyond the music of which he taught himself to play 27 different instruments from the age of 7. He turned down his 1st record deal offer at age 16 because they refused to allow him full creative control, but at 17 had a deal with Warner Brothers and before he passed, had gained the rights to the Masters for all his music. It's been reported that Tamron Hall (who was once involved w/him.. She had to take a 2 month leave from her previous show when he passed. Her husband's Co. just bought the Rights to half his music catalog.
Please react to the long album version "I could never take the place of your man" by Prince. Especially for the guitar at the end the short versioncuts it off!
Glad you got to this bro . Prince repped an era where you honed your craft and try to create something better than the next man/woman . Pure instrumentation, soul and total expression .
He is beyond talented. That man can tho down on the 🎸. As well as all other instruments. That's what sets him aside from Michael Jackson. Prince was an iconic musician and performer
Please dig deeper. You will love Prince! His music is sooooooo layered! His first album he wrote all songs, sang all songs, sang all backing vocals and played ALL instruments! 💜
Going to catch heat for this. But here goes: MJ was the ultimate live stage performer and dancer.. His albums were his concepts and he was at his peak teaming up with Quincy Jones. Prince? Prince teamed up with NO ONE. He needed no one. At the age of (16, 17?) He turned down the opportunity to have his 1st album produced by Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire, declaring that "the only one who will produce my music is me". And Maurice agreed saying there was nothing he could do for him. Prince was all set. Prince did it ALL. He played ALL the insturments. Like MJ, his stage shows were monstrous. A studio engineer once said that the only reason Prince has a band was because he couldnt play all the instruments simultaneously by himself. If I give MJ a 10, I will have to give Prince an 11.
Facts! Warner Brothers kept trying to send a plethora of seasoned musicians to Minnesota to oversee the production of his album. Everyone came back and said leave him alone he is fine!
@traceyrankin936 So true. Frank Zappa an accomplished musician in his own right, admitted that he wasn't a fan of Prince's music, but at the same time he recognized Prince's exceptional multi-faceted talents. He rallied for Prince's right to make his music as he wanted too when he said: "Hats off to Warner Bros for having the good sense to stay out of his way."
😆😂😅🤣💯🔥 & right back 2 the the expressions, Stank Face, head bobin' & noddin', shoulders movin' & fingers snappin' 💯🔥🤣😅😂😆 now this is how Prince intended this song 2 hit a person 😆😂😅🤣💯🔥

Been listening 2 this stuff 4 over 40 yrs and still make the faces U make... the FUNK is undeniable.
Bro please listen to “international lover” -Prince!!
PLEASE! You wont regret it!
My absolute favorite from the 1999 album! 🔥🔥🔥
Co-Sign! Imagine hearing this back in 1982! Out Of This World!
@@EWJHalifu2766 I didn't hear it in 82 but I did hear it for the first time in 88 at age 11. I have been hooked on Prince ever since. ❤🔥❤
This was the song that captured me when I 1st heard the album.
😆🤣😅😂💯🔥 feel it Twon 💯🔥😂😅🤣
It took you a minute to realize he was ..as your generation says... SMASHING... 😂
Couldn't even look at a cab for years without blushing😂
@@mztweety1374 😂
Oh my damn! I’ll be back for this after work! I’m going to need a drink for this! One of my 77+ favorites. God, he was so wonderfully dirty!
Oh, you have only just begun to go down the Prince rabbit hole - keep going, starting with his first album!!!!!!!!
one of his best grooves ever
Rest in Purple Power Sweet Prince! I cried more when he passed than when my own mama passed.
This reaction was great! I am an older gentleman and started listening to Prince in 1979. I love it when people finally discover him! Prince is the GOAT!
Lady Cab Driver Can You Take Me For A Ride (Think About It)
Yes sir. Every thrust was for something important.
One of my favorite live performances ever!❤✌
Glad you got to this bro . Prince repped an era where you honed your craft and try to create something better than the next man/woman . Pure instrumentation, soul and total expression .
Yep. 😂😂🔥🔥 I loved your reaction. ❤️
Ur eyes when u realised what was going on , priceless
Your expressions r 4 real on point 🤣😅😂😆💯🔥
The look of recognition on your face as it hit you as to why she was screaming
Just a musical genius
Start from early albums in order and listen to the evolution.
No one can duplicate that talent, no one
I am glad you found out Prince is talented!
I could watch you react to Prince all day... but I gotta get back to work, man!
When he first came out in 1978, I was hooked. People laughed at me because I liked Prince, now they understand!!
Pince- " let'S work"
You got taste young man.
Lady cab driver. Yes sir! Telling her what each one is for❤. Only Prince!
Bro, I love you got that dirty funk face going on, lol... Prince is the GOAT
He is beyond talented. That man can tho down on the 🎸. As well as all other instruments. That's what sets him aside from Michael Jackson. Prince was an iconic musician and performer
This is 1 of the best reactions that I've seen 💯🔥 & badass 💯🔥😎👍
I felt same way 40 years ago!!!- "Daaam this is funkeeeee" i said to myself
& right back 2 the expressions, shoulders moving, head bobbin & noddin, fingers snappin & the Stank Face 💯🔥
Please dig deeper. You will love Prince! His music is sooooooo layered! His first album he wrote all songs, sang all songs, sang all backing vocals and played ALL instruments! 💜
💯🔥🤣😅😂😆 yes 😆😂😅🤣 Prince is giving her some bump & grind in the backseat of the cab 😆😂😅🤣💯🔥
You’re not on Prince Black album level yet. You just got started with His music. You have no idea how GOAT he is!
And that was before it's time ,Michael and prince did that
Going to catch heat for this.
But here goes:
MJ was the ultimate live stage performer and dancer..
@traceyrankin936 So true.
Frank Zappa an accomplished musician in his own right, admitted that he wasn't a fan of Prince's music, but at the same time he recognized Prince's exceptional multi-faceted talents.
He rallied for Prince's right to make his music as he wanted too when he said:
"Hats off to Warner Bros for having the good sense to stay out of his way."
Best reaction to a Prince masterpiece I ever seen, thank you.
😆😂😅🤣💯🔥 & right back 2 the the expressions, Stank Face, head bobin' & noddin', shoulders movin' & fingers snappin' 💯🔥🤣😅😂😆 now this is how Prince intended this song 2 hit a person 😆😂😅🤣💯🔥
New subscriber. Prince music will never die.
