  • This video explains how to differentiate between the six dragonfly families present in the Upper Midwest of the USA. Resources for other locations are provided.
Dragonflies and Damselflies both the belong to the same taxonomic order. Often the word "dragonflies" is used to informally refer to both groups.
This is part 5 of our video series for STEM educators and dragonfly enthusiasts - they are designed to teach the teachers. Educators may decide to show these videos directly to their students, however these videos were created for a general audience.
These videos were created by Peter Xiong and Ami Thompson to accompany the Dragonfly Curriculum Guide. Any additional contributors are acknowledged within the videos.
The Dragonfly Curriculum Guide is available to download for free (in English, Spanish, and Portuguese languages) at www.amidragonfly.com.
The creation of these videos was sponsored by the USDA-Forest Service International Programs Division's Wings Across the Americas Program.
