Problem is, you never know if an audiologist is recommending a brand which gives them the most profit, or a brand that is tied into their business in some way. I use Unitron, but I have no idea why my audiologist recommended them, and I have never compared them to any other brand.

I was just diagnosed with moderate-severe asymmetrical hearing loss (age appropriate) and would like to know if you could recommend a hearing aid specialist, someone who shares your philosophy and expertise, in the Los Angeles area? Thank you.

Agreed!!! Out of all brands I tried, Widex is absolutely the best for musicians,.. Widex is one of a kind with the hearing aid technology, plus any other features that all other manufacturers have,.. I feel like all other technologies are all extremely similar among every manufacturer and device, (at the same tier levels) except for the musical accommodations that Widex has

So true! I've tried every one of these hearing aids you mentioned and Oticon to me sound the most normal in tone. I'm profoundly deaf. However I'm still working out the kinks on the Oticon Real 1. 😊

@@dgangel7 Have you ever tried WIdex? I have never tried Oticon though, I have also heard mixed things about the Oticon from a lot of people. From What I have heard from most, Widex is usually recommended for musicians and is usually number 1 for musicians. Although some people say they have decent luck with Oticon or ReSound, but still say Widex is number 1 so, its a pretty hard question either way but thats the closest answer I have gotten so

Would you say the difference between other brands and widex is night and day? If so, in what way? What kind of musical accommodations would you say widex offers? I'm going to be looking at getting HAs for the first time. I sing and play acoustic guitar. I'm no pro by any means, but I'm wondering if it's worth getting widex over, say, jabra enhance pro 20 from costco. My hesitantion is that widex is 4x the price! My concern is hearing my voice and other instruments correctly, so I can still sing on pitch.

@@christee299 It does depend, I personally have only had luck with widex but of course, everyone has there own perspectives and perceptions of the devices,. I would say to try it first and compare then go from there

I am a drummer, and just recently at the age of 71 and now afflicted with severe tinnitus and hearing loss and high frequencies. I need something to deal with the tinnitus as well as best as possible. However, my family reminded me that EMF‘s are a concern with Bluetooth hearing aids, so can you even get hearing aids without Bluetooth? And of course if you do, you’re not gonna have any control of your settings.

Is there any place in your environment that is not inundated with EMF from Bluetooth devices, wifi hotspots, FM radio signals, as well as the ever present low energy electromagnetic wavelengths left over from the original big-bang which are audible as static at the lower end of the radio band?
Yes some early cellphones put out too much energy from their antennae. No, not every risk someone might imagine becomes real with the imagining.

Most people who should have hearing aids don’t get hearing aids simply because the price is too high. Hearing aids should and could be less than $500. The regulatory body the FDA keeps the price artificially high. The FDA PROTECTING PUBLIC HEALTH BY INSURING THE SAFETY, efficacy, security. But they do not ensure that hearing aids and hearing care is affordable. Thus the greatest damage is to people who don’t have hearing aids or hearing care. Modern hearing aids can now be made with build in care and low cost for everyone.
