    Got this grinder some month ago and loving it. After probably putting 5 pounds of coffee through it, it is becoming very consistent with grind size. Such a great upgrade from my Rancilio Rocky

    I had its predecessor, the DF83. I had huge problems with grind consistency and swapped it for the Niche Duo, with which, I have no issues. This model does seem to have addressed the problems of the DF83, though and this was a balanced review, thank you.

      You're welcome ! 🙌 this over the Df83 all day. And the Niche Duo is a beautiful grinder 100%

    I’ve had mine for 3 months and extremely happy with it. I purchased it with brew burrs and SSP LS (Lab Sweet) and it makes perfect pour over. I get zero retention from it and BONUS the Weber Blind Shaker fits perfectly. I have the new Lagom 01 102mm blind burrs heading to me very curious how it compares. Josh you nailed this video about this grinder it’s truly a solid piece other than the looks of it

    Hey Josh. How does the brew burrs compare to say the fellow ode.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  19 дней назад +1

      Fellow Ode gen-2 burrs are amazing! I wouldn't say purchasing a DF83V and Brew Burrs is a massive increase in quality of flavour - but performance wise - the DF83V is quicker, cleaner with a more precise grind adjustment 👌

    What do you think about 83mm ssp MP burrs for light roast coffees?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  8 дней назад

      It's personal preferences - IMHO I do like a bit of balance with some texture - so Light roast beans with a Unimodal burr set like the SSP MP - will punch out some juicy and super clean, transparent shots - though these wont work for every coffee - and I'd miss a little body, texture and lingering aftertaste in it - ESPECIALLY if adding to milk. I'd be looking at the SSP RS or the Cast Steel Lab Sweets for a balance 👌

    How dose it compare to Df64v?

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  19 дней назад +4

      This is better by far 🙌 Faster, cleaner, smoother, better tasting. I couldn't necessarily say this in regards to the DF64 vs DF83. But the upgrade from DF64V to DF83V is noticeable.

    Does it have the capability to grind directly into a portafilter?

    • @hurcorh
      @hurcorh 20 дней назад

      No

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  19 дней назад +1

      no - it is clean grinding - though not really setup for the portafilter to rest under chute easily.

      @space.youtube 19 дней назад

      @@AlternativeBrewing I was wondering if it was supplied with an adapter that could accommodate a portafilter and a dosing ring. I suppose if it did you would have mentioned it. It does look like there's enough space for a bottomless portafilter and a dosing ring though. Wonder if the 3d printing crowd could knock something up? 🤔

    • @AlternativeBrewing

      For sure. Anything is possible with 3d printing 🙌

    Still waiting for the grinder I ordered that said it was going to be delivered in May. You guys make good reviews but the customer service has been pretty garbage and there is no way to actually get in contact with anyone outside of logging at ticket.

      @AlternativeBrewing  17 дней назад

      Hey there, I'm so sorry you've been kept waiting! Is it this grinder specifically you're talking about, or another? I know many grinders have had ETAs that are unrealistic - we aim to pass on the most up-to-date timeframes - but occasionally - this get blown out; ie: the Timemore Sculptor.
      If there's anything I can help with, let me know

    Df83 is poorly designed. The exit chute and declumpers are hopeless from factory. Hope this is better functioning. Aesthetically this looks ridiculous though.

    • @AlternativeBrewing
      @AlternativeBrewing  19 дней назад

      Yeah so much better 🙌 Got to wonder what the OG-DF83 would have been if it had this style. My belief is the vertical burrs are so much better at this. 64mm can get away with horizontal burrs -- anything bigger - go vertical
