I have so many hobbies already but I enjoyed watching your video. I do counted cross stitch, knitting, sewing (refashioning clothes from the thrift store mostly), buying cheap jewelry from the thrift store, and making new things out of them (mostly barrettes). I have just gotten back into baking and I'm baking all of my own bread and goodies.

Junk Journals are the modern version of scrapbooks. I collect antique scrapbooks & diaries. You can totally see the person's interests change as different trends come into fashion through the year or years the person was doing the scrapbook. The young girl cutting out movie stars or trending artist and then the move to where she is trying to build her home so she pastes in home decor ideas and handicraft patterns/directions. I will be doing a lecture on this topic in the near future and have really been studying this trend very closely. Thanks for adding it to your Homey past times list.

I have lots of hobbies. In fact, you mentionned most of them. However, my list is bigger😅. I also enjoy creative writing, adult painting books, crosswords, upcycling clothes and jewelry, flower arrangements, taking good care of my plants and even creating new recipes.
Love your style and you're really beautiful. I'm glad I found you on Instagram. Big hug from Portugal ❤

I learned to crochet as a little teeny girl...watching my great grandmother and great aunt gave me lots of ideas! My mother taught me to embroidery, which I love! My daughter would love the book nooks you talked about! I'd not heard of those. :) I like doing puzzles in the winter and working in my flower beds in the spring and summer...maybe not cozy but very calming. :)
I also am learning hoe to Tat....lace making.

Ooh! I love this! I love cozy hobbies! I do diamond painting from time to time. I want to learn to crochet and make earrings with polymer clay. I finally figured I love enamel pins, I plan to collect them. Along with cute animal bags like cows and frogs.

What a great topic! Never heard them called Cozy Hobbies, I like it it's sweet. Just started paint by numbers, it's fun. I cross stitch, embroider, knit (terribly but I have fun 😅). I also make my own clothes, joined my Neighbourhood House, three years ago, in order to start sewing again. I go at my own pace, have so much fun and made new friends. I usually have 3 or so projects going at once but it gives me choice and there is no rush. I also love watching the family play video games. I am usless at them but love the graffics and story lines. Plus, I get to do needlepoint whilst I watch! Win win!🧵🧶

I really like puzzles. Especially when the image is something beautiful, like an art piece or something. Also making home decor(something not complicated, like re-painting a vase or turning an empty can of something into a pretty planter). I also really like having a "pseudo-bullet journal". Pseudo, because I just have the month callendar where I can write in events to remember, but I don't do all that bullet planning and so on. However what I really like is picking a theme for each month and creating a couple of pages in that specific theme - it's relaxing as there's no pressure for perfection, but still a very nice let out for creativity.

Such a great video and thank you for sharing these ideas. The paint-by-numbers idea I am going to use as a team building exercise to help my team disconnect from high-pressure projects. I think they will really enjoy an afternoon of something creative. As far as a few things I enjoy: Yahtzee such a fun board game. My husband and I played this on Christmas Eve watching some movies. I do love looking at the archives from Harper's Bazaar and Vogue from the earlier 20th century, the ads are the best. And my favorite hobby is garment sewing. I love using vintage patterns, and buying vintage fabric to create garments for wearing in my everyday life. I am working on a 1940's jerkin and skirt this month.

I love these ideas. I feel like cozy hobbies have gone by the wayside and younger people would greatly benefit by exploring these pastimes. I have always enjoyed the fiber arts and reading, but I love your idea of a junk journal. I am going to try that!

You might like a game called Bear and Breakfast, you play as a bear, who takes over a bed and breakfast campsite. :D It's super cute and chill. Also maybe Dorfromantik, which is kinda like a board game, but computer one. You get tiles and you have to place them on board to make towns/woods/train tracks etc. And one more game, that I haven't played myself but it's on my list, cause it looks stunning, Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery. It's hand animated, gorgeous looking, interactive story. :)

Another wonderful video. Thank you! I've never heard of a junk journal but am intrigued. I quilt (infrequently these days) and I read all the time. We enjoy cards and Scrabble and are fortunate to have friends who enjoy board games as well. Off to consider my junk journal!

    thoughts:
Wonderfully cozy new mobile game - Frozen City. It's... well, frozen, but the music is so soothing and the visuals are beautiful.
Wingspan IS really fun and cozy. It's an amazing engine-building game. There's an element of competition, of course, but I didn't find it adversarial at all.
I've been working on embroidery the past few weeks after putting it down for nearly a year. It's been really nice to make things again. Knitting and cross stitch are a couple other fiber arts I enjoy. I'm a big crafter and always want to take up new crafts, though, so who knows what else I will add?
(I do sew and make some jewelry from preserved carnivorous plants, and some other things, but I don't find them nearly as cozy, they're too functional and end-product oriented.)

You have so many great hobbies! I love stationery and love to write copybooks wich learn kids to write letters. 😁 I liked the expression "junk journal" 😁👍, I have never heard this expression and did not know that these kind of notebooks have this name. 😁 I would like to keep such a journal, but it turns out to be somehow ugly and every time I give up this occupation. 😤 How do you organize time for hobbies, dear Christine?

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  Год назад +1

It can be hard sometimes to schedule in "fun time" but I try and do something every day or at least several days a week. Even if it's only for 30 minutes. We are really trying to cut down on TV time, so my husband and I will make an effort to just put on some music and both do our respective hobbies for a bit.
The junk journal isn't meant to be perfect, it's just an expression of your creativity, whatever that may be. I hope you'll try it again if it's something you enjoy.

Thank you for your support, Christine 🤗 Just when I see someone's junk journal, it always look so cool 😁 not like mine, but I really like it 😁
