  • UPDATE: When looking at the website it looks like the Small runs for $49 and the Large runs for $65. Looking at my receipt I paid $55 out the door 🤔
    At $65 this is still such a great value. (and of course, you can still get the small for $49)

    ---
    The Steelcase Universal Cable Management Kit has everything you need to organize the cables under your desk. It comes with 4 screws, elastic rubber pieces that tie your cables to the unit, and the unit itself that opens and closes.
    You can choose between 2 sizes: Small & Large. The version I have is Large.
    Also do a bonus scene where I talk about using Furniture Sliders as a Caster Wheel Replacement. Saves me on cost and adding more height to my desk for my non-aggressive desk move needs. :D

    I have the 72"x30" Uplift desk. I did buy the smallest locking casters they had. it still goes plenty low, but I just bought some stuff on Amazon for wire mgmt and it looks good. This is pretty cool, too small for me. I bought a 39" 10 socket power strip that has plugs 3" apart so that all those ignorant bricks can plug in without taking over the slot next to or across from. i also still had to have another smaller power strip as well. I have a gaming PC, a Mac mini and lots of lights, routers etc all over the place. Mine looks pretty good. I hope to submit some pics to "set up" videos on youtube.
    PS: the uplift desk is worth Every Penny they ask. The best desk ever.

    I love these cable management videos with a laptop, monitor and pair of speakers. I also have an uplift desk, but I have a desktop PC, a laptop, an xbox (with controller charger), two monitors, a KVM (with a USB and HDMI cable pair for each input), two powered studio monitors and a powered subwoofer (with a power cable and two balanced xlr cables *each*), a phone charger, an ipad charger, a headphone amp, and two power cables attached to outlets on top of the desk. All together these require two double width surge protectors. I have yet to find a cable management solution that can handle this number of peripherals that doesn't make adding or removing a component require disassembling the whole thing.

Did you see this on the Uplift website? www.upliftdesk.com/modesty-panel-with-wire-management-by-uplift-desk/. • @romyromes
      @romyromes  3 года назад

      Thank you! I mean…I certainly considered but never pulled the trigger. The half-box thing it comes with is sufficient as a starter. Essentially you keep a “single row” surge protector inside of it and route cables into it. But once you start adding more devices to
      your desk, you’ll outgrow it (assuming you want clean/no-show cable management). The one thing that caught my eye was the Uplift Desk accessory that hangs at the back of the desk serving as 1) under the waist privacy and 2) a big pouch to throw cables in. Never purchased it so can’t give any advice. Seemed like a “simple” solution though.

    This was exactly what I was looking for!
    Hoping you can answer a few questions:
    Will this fit on any standard desk with enough clearance?
    Also can it fit powerboards larger (thicker) than the ones you have? Will clamping it be an issue if I put a thicker powerboard?
    I’m from Australia and I’ll have to order it to a US freight forwarder company to get it shipped here so it’s going to cost quite a lot so want to make sure everything’s alright

    • @romyromes
      @romyromes  3 года назад

      Hey Rush
      It should fit on any standard desk with enough clearance
      I don't know with regards to the "thicker" powerboards. I would check out the website and look at the dimensions, and then compare it to the powerboards you have. It definitely won't fit a 2 row powerboard (assuming you're trying to place it the way I have). It'll have to be single strips.

    Hey, Romy... This is the best cable mgmt kit I've seen so far. Now, I'm thinking of getting one for my Sway desk (60 x 30). A few questions: (1) What's actually included in the cable mgmt kit, just the tray and zip chords? (2) Who do you attach the tray to the table, is it screwed-in to the table OR attached somehow via the metal desk stand? Thanks!

      Thanks Glenn. And wow. The Sway Desk is beautiful. That was my dream desk hah!
      The Kit comes with 3 things:
      1) the tray itself
      2) the orange/red smart straps that hold cables in place (10 included in the large kit. 5 in the small)
      3) the screws needed to mount the tray to the desk.
      The screws they provide might be wood screws - I had no problem screwing them into my desk with a screwdriver (no drill work needed)

    Is the grove in the middle wide and deep enough for a large monitor arm? If not, can I install the steelcage further to the front or do I have to install it at the edge of the table.

      OMG. Another person with an Ergonofis desk...I'm jealous!
      I've upgraded to a larger monitor arm and didn't have issues. Regardless! To your other point, there is no reason why the bracket needs to be placed as far back as mine is - it just made sense for my setup. Technically I could've put it closer to the front (too far forward, however, it'd get in the way of my knees).

      Good point on protecting the knee. How far forward from the edge of the table do you have to install the box in order to have enough room for a monitor arm?
      BTW, you make great videos: very concise with effective supplement of visuals. High information density. Good lessons on brevity.

      the kit comes with 4 wood screws that you screw into your desk. there weren't any "pre-drill holes" in my uplift desk that showed me where to drill the kit - i had to make that decision for myself (which was pretty straightforward. just put it in the back, centered, and make sure it can open and close)

    When you swing open the cable management panel, how deep is the bottom side where the bottom of your surge protector is resting on? Your surge protector looks like a single row design which is slim overall and can fit in there nicely. I have a surge protector with 2 rows of outlets and was wondering if the panel is deep enough to accommodate it?

    • @romyromes

      I don't think it'll accommodate a double row.
