Not exactly? If a combo has 2 EX and a regular super using quick max you already made up for the upfront pay Sure 3 bars for a max into a climax is the ideal but dont underestimate just using 2 bars max for...er max
Another reason that max mode is a good 'comeback' mechanism is that you earn it. A common situation is someone has more life and the other has more meters. Many like to spend meters as soon as they get a chance to get advantages and others like to save it for the big damage. It is more like strategy stuff than a comeback mechanism in other fighting games.
I hate comeback mechanics in most fighting games. SF4 Ultra combos, and Rage in Tekken for example just feel cheap and never feels like you've earned it. I like how its handled in KOF because it still requires skill to do.
@@Auster9376 true, i've seen some situation where combo drops from quick max mode activation. the mental pressure to land the combo is also high especially on anchor vs anchor. one mistake on spending max/quick max can cost a match. landing it on enemy on that situation is indeed feel rewarded.
I really like this game, just what characters can do based on their normals/specials/ ex specials/supers etc without even needing the all round mechanics that every character has access to.
@@o_oro-q1k For me, other games. Like I would buy KoF 15 but then the question is when will i play it? Since Elden Ring comes out this Friday and then there's Sifu, Horizon Forbidden West, Dying Light 2. Like there's too much to play.

But for me it's more a question of what I'd rather put my time into.
Just wanted to add something. It is a great comeback mechanic because as nice as it looks on paper ... you will not always going to have 3+ bars when you reach your last character, more often than not, you will be spending bars in previous rounds with EX moves (they are useful outside Quick Mode as defensive tools or combo extenders), Alpha Counters or with indeed, Quick Mode ... So there's the catch ... you either save bars for your potential last round or you spend it ... not spending any bars means that you need to learn to play characters with "normal" combos and you need to be very efficient with your anchors ... at the same time, you will need to step up your defense since any hit can be potentially deadly. So yeah, interesting dynamic.
That's the beauty of this game! And learning how to play conservative with your meter is so rewarding. The cherry on top is that the meter combos are accessible to beginners if they take an hour to learn how to get that damage.
Trying to do max mode combos in some of the earlier games like KOF 98 is so hard for me and I can't reliably do it, so I'm a huge fan of the generous cancel window and run-up that quick max gives you in this game

Ya I’m glad he’s loving it. I heard KOF is super tough and I fell out of playing traditional fighters years ago (street fighter my most played but never KOF). Stuff like holding the button a bit early instead of timing it perfectly in combos and the game throw out the move as soon as it’s possible. Also knowing shortcuts on super inputs when canceling from a special makes it sooo much easier to chain them. i love max mode i will be calling it Maximilian mode from now on
This is really helpful thanks max
Man I cant wait to watch Max's entire playthrough of Elden Ring. Oh elden ring.
Hi Max, thank you so much for this tutorial! It does help me alot!
glad to see people outside latin america playing kof
The joystick works on PS4 to play KOF 15?
here we go again same type of video that made me enjoy dbf
yeah the 2 big things for me to get used to doing is command normals & actually using Quick Max. Also just getting the new member of my team down because oh man did I feel corner pressure when forgetting Isla has a kick shoryuken & new character with no legacy moveset to base knowledge off of.
So I can do command normal > EX move > Super cancel as an example for a nice combo?
Is it me Or am I thinking Terry says “BUSTER IGNITION” when he’s performing his level 3
Edit: I researched it and it’s actually called “Stardust Ignition” but Somehow I’M only hearing the 1st word as Buster.
Combos are sooo addicting in this game.
Great explanation man keep the good work!
I don't even play KOF just here for Max👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
omg this video is so helpful!!! thanks max
Great tutorial, this really helps
I would love to see a video for combos and extending combos for Street Fighter Third Strike. No pressure though I know it’s hard to accommodate fan requests
Had the chance to play the game today, and it really seems fun. Much better then XIV in my opinion. Its crazy how easy some combos are.
>Plays for a week
>Gives tips
he's actually right, I'm just kidding how absurd it looks, rock on, Berry Togard!
This is a prime example of how fighting games are a virtual yet physical language a select number of people can speak to one another.
we should do this for every fighting game especially ones that have just come out
Maximillian Mode Activated
*ok ima head out*
I'll have to keep that in mind. I have a bad habit of throwing out EXs to open people up, so I never build up enough meter to do cool half the time.
I miss special to special cancels like we have in 02, but for sure is more easy with the autorun + super into lv3, i just wish we can have both and decide on the fly xD
Ash is he only character with that ability now. His "install" super is so rewarding and fun.
The fighting mechanics are so deep , i miss KI's (xboxone) GOATED training modes.
KOF XV meter , Max mode and super are so good and practical. Never been fan of KOF13 drive cancel and unlimited Super cancel .
You should do more vids like this dood!!!
I'm surprised it took them this long to make EX moves universal and not locked to MAX mode.
Thank you Max :)
Thanks Sensei.
