  • After opening my 2024 outdoor Track & Field season last episode, I'm now ready to push on and start chasing down my PB's in the 100m and 200m. With the GB team being selected for the European championships, I have one last chance to run a fast 200m in an attempt to secure my place on the team, so i'm going to have to produce something fast.
    We're now just weeks away from the Olympic trials which take place at the end of June, so it's important that the pieces start coming together and I can improve my speed in training and times in competition as we edge closer to the peak of this journey.
    This is an action packed episode, I'm feeling good, so let's see how fast I can go!
    Please make sure to like, subscribe, and leave a comment if there's anything you want to see in the future.
    Thanks for watching!

    I'm currently going through a upper hamstring strain. Any tips to get back running fast?

    • @joeferguson200
      @joeferguson200  3 месяца назад +2

      It depends on how severe the strain is, but deloading from running straight away, then spending some time building up with single leg isometric work to load the hamstring, before gradually increasing the pace again is the way to go. The timeline will depend on how bad the injury is, all the best!

    • @joeferguson200
      @joeferguson200  3 месяца назад +2

      Sometimes taking a step back to reassess your training can be good, maybe taking a deload and building up on some of your weaknesses, along with fine tuning some technical errors whilst you let your body fully recover can make a huge difference. If you’ve been working hard for a long time you might be experiencing burnout where your body isn’t responding the way you want it to, so maybe taking a step back for a couple of weeks could help you reset and then push on soon🙏🏼

      I’d say having a coach definitely helps as they can monitor your progress and help make adjustments that you might not see, have a look at your options local to you at first and see if there are any clubs nearby that you can join!

      It happens! Had you kept going full bore on the turn , you would have been in a better position at 150 m and possibly run a 20.5 .
      I trust you already know that, and I'm trying to give you positive, fair and objective feedback.
      I gotta admit, EVERY sprinter in your heat was faster than my best 200.
      You're up against some top competition and holding your own.
      Good luck 🎉

      You're so close , I bet you can almost taste making the UK Olympic team .😊
      With a best of 10.8 in the 100m back in 1978 , I never got close to being on an Olympic team. It's gotta be different for a sprinter on YOUR level. Seriously, for you just two or three 0.1 tenths in the 200 could be the difference between being an Olympian vs just a competitive guy on the European track circuit.
      FYI , you're doing a great job filming allowing us to follow someone with a legitimate shot to make it .🎉
