    Your homemade Level Lawn tool looked like it worked great!! Loved your daughter at the end, that's something mine would do... so cute. You think once the Bermuda gets established it'll keep that St. Aug choked out? It may take over your whole lawn. :)

    • @donslawns1
      @donslawns1  4 года назад +1

      Thanks!!!! She was adorable, I had to find a spot for that in the video. Lol. Quite honestly, I think they borders may mix and the Bermuda will probably spread throughout. My goal is to keep the main Bermuda section cut nice and short, grow it thick- and hope to deter the St. Aug from entering!

    Just subscribed bc I'm in the same mind set as you seem to be with chemicals made for my soil. Think about how many chemicals we're exposed to in just one day of living. I've wondered about the flame thrower for burning weeds if its a good idea considering one is safe and not setting any fires.

    • @donslawns1
      @donslawns1  2 года назад

      Thanks for subbing! I’ve contemplated burning weeds also, as long as safety is number 1. Honestly, I either pull or weed eat them down for now!

    Hi Don, just got referred by budget lawn to your home page. I also got plans on wiping out my st aug on the front lawn. I started scalping the lawn 5 days ago and now just waiting for the Arnold’s blade to get here tomorrow. Haven’t water it and it seems most stolons are brown now. My question for you is, do I need to completely wipe out all stolons? As in 100% clean? I just notice on yours that there were few still remaining when you throw the top soil. I just hate to see them come back when the Bermuda is laid out. I thought of using a tiller and dig but it’s just so much work. Please advice thank you

    • @donslawns1
      @donslawns1  3 года назад +1

      You don’t have to get it 100%, but the more clean the merrier. I found it very easy to pull the little bits of st aug amongst the Bermuda later down the road. Also, MOST of the aug will not survive once the dethatcher gets ahold of it!!

    Hi, I'm in South Florida & looking to do some yard work myself very soon. is it necessary to remove the st Augustine grass in order to switch to Bermuda? Or, is it just your preference?

    • @donslawns1
      @donslawns1  4 года назад +2

      You can take a much slower route and do a more gradual transition- but the St. Augustine will fight you every step of the way! If I could go back, I’d probably use Quinclorac to spray out the St. Aug as it is sensitive to it, but Bermuda handles it well. I’m still pulling small St. Aug bunches in my finished Bermuda section. 😅

    Maybe it's hard to tell in a video, but your lawn looked pretty level to me. Mine is much bumpier. Should I expect the same results, assuming I'm not too spastic with the leveler?

    • @donslawns1
      @donslawns1  4 года назад

      The tool works great at smoothing out low spots and evenly spreading material. If you have more serious “holes”, you’ll want to fill those and roll them or tamp them down prior to using a leveling tool.
