Nice to see the rake you made getting the job done!!!
It definitely did a good job!!
Dons Lawns! Love that intro. Man that st ag is a stubborn old girl! Can’t wait to see that Bermuda seed start taking brother 👊🏼
Much appreciated!! New vids coming soon... 😎
Great video! Scott’s top soil is really great, but Lowe’s sells Evergreen top soil and that stuff is awesome!
I need to drive an extra 10 minutes for Lowe’s. 😂 that’s worth the drive!
Nice job. Looks like you had some good luck with the level
Yessir, the lawn leveler was very handy and successful!
I'm enjoying this series. I was wondering how u got the 2 levels/looks in backyard and then found your series
It was a very fun project! Thanks for watching!
Nice tool
Thanks!! It’s a nice addition to the lawn. 😎
Your homemade Level Lawn tool looked like it worked great!! Loved your daughter at the end, that's something mine would do... so cute. You think once the Bermuda gets established it'll keep that St. Aug choked out? It may take over your whole lawn. :)
Thanks!!!! She was adorable, I had to find a spot for that in the video. Lol. Quite honestly, I think they borders may mix and the Bermuda will probably spread throughout. My goal is to keep the main Bermuda section cut nice and short, grow it thick- and hope to deter the St. Aug from entering!
Just subscribed bc I'm in the same mind set as you seem to be with chemicals made for my soil. Think about how many chemicals we're exposed to in just one day of living. I've wondered about the flame thrower for burning weeds if its a good idea considering one is safe and not setting any fires.
Thanks for subbing! I’ve contemplated burning weeds also, as long as safety is number 1. Honestly, I either pull or weed eat them down for now!
How well did the "custom" leveling tool work? Might be a project that I want to do...
It worked great Bubba!!
Hi Don, just got referred by budget lawn to your home page. I also got plans on wiping out my st aug on the front lawn. I started scalping the lawn 5 days ago and now just waiting for the Arnold’s blade to get here tomorrow. Haven’t water it and it seems most stolons are brown now. My question for you is, do I need to completely wipe out all stolons? As in 100% clean? I just notice on yours that there were few still remaining when you throw the top soil. I just hate to see them come back when the Bermuda is laid out. I thought of using a tiller and dig but it’s just so much work. Please advice thank you
You don’t have to get it 100%, but the more clean the merrier. I found it very easy to pull the little bits of st aug amongst the Bermuda later down the road. Also, MOST of the aug will not survive once the dethatcher gets ahold of it!!

can you please tell me what you are dragging?
i am attempting to level a part of my lawn and need something like that
That is a drag mat, they work pretty good!
Hi, I'm in South Florida & looking to do some yard work myself very soon. is it necessary to remove the st Augustine grass in order to switch to Bermuda? Or, is it just your preference?
You can take a much slower route and do a more gradual transition- but the St. Augustine will fight you every step of the way! If I could go back, I’d probably use Quinclorac to spray out the St. Aug as it is sensitive to it, but Bermuda handles it well. I’m still pulling small St. Aug bunches in my finished Bermuda section. 😅
@@donslawns1 great. Thank you for the info. Love the tutorials. Keep them going. Very informative for us nobs...lol
And, let's not forget the small helping hands ( priceless family moments). 🙂👍
Everson L thanks!! 🤙🏼
Much respect for the manual work. You know I love manually pulling weeds. Now, I'd rather not have any to pull, but you know what I mean. Haha. Good little series here man!
Thanks!! I love manual work because it builds grit, character and determination. Much like you- weeds are on my $hit list! 😎
Interesting. Why is the stick so short? You should bend your knees instead of your back and if the stick was longer...yes, it would be easier.
Ideally I would have a bigger stick, but I used what I had
Use DriveXLR8 to kill that St Aug
Thanks for the tip!
This will be neat. I'm interested to see how much St. Aug comes back.
This will be very interesting!! 😬
all of it will
What tool is that at 8:20...
That is a drag mat! Thanks for watching!
"Why's he using the side of the hammer?"
"Ooooohhh"
😂 exactly!! Thanks for watching, just subbed your channel!!
@@donslawns1 Hey thank you so much. Subscriber 100 so I very much appreciate that.
Are we just supposed to ignore the Addidas socks worn with the Nike shoes? 😂 I’m here to see how that lawn leveler worked out. Nicely done.👍
🤣 waiting for one to sponsor!! But all jokes aside- adidas socks are more breathable, and Nike shoes more comfortable. Lol
Strong work Don. New sub
Thank you for joining!!
You’ve put in a lot of hard work man. I would’ve been out there with a blowtorch burning that crap away! Can’t wait to see the results
Thanks man!! I appreciate it! 😎
Maybe it's hard to tell in a video, but your lawn looked pretty level to me. Mine is much bumpier. Should I expect the same results, assuming I'm not too spastic with the leveler?
The tool works great at smoothing out low spots and evenly spreading material. If you have more serious “holes”, you’ll want to fill those and roll them or tamp them down prior to using a leveling tool.
How you lawn leveling tool working out? I'm probably going to copy you. For some reason, they don't sell the Levelawn up in Canada.
Worked awesome! Thanks for watching! 🤙🏼
PITTL my friend. Love seeing yards being transitioned to different grasses. Struggle but worth it in the end
1,000 ways to do it! 🤙🏼😎
@@donslawns1 absolutely. Never judge, PITTL.
Don I think you're going to be my new best friend and confidant I'm doing this now to my yard.
😎✊🏼 Sounds good!
Man looks great, I like manual labor around the house too lol, the Scott’s topsoil has also worked very well for me but I love the black cow topsoil I’d recommend if you ever get the chance to try it
I plan to incorporate the Black Kow later this summer for sure!! Thanks for watching!!
Nice job Don!
Thanks man! Much appreciated! 🙏🏼
I see you're staying hydrated! I haven't found a top soil that is wood free. Thats going to be rad. Cheers dude
Nothing like a little water in a can! 🤙🏼 super excited to be going to the dark side and having some Bermuda!
Don’s Lawns that’s what I was going to say. Didn’t wanna come off as a beer snob. I am one though. Hahaha
So cute your daughter is helping you lok
Thanks!! Hope to teach her while she’s young!
Great job Don, levelling tool worked great.
Thanks!! It was more enjoyable to use than anticipated. Something about knocking down piles of dirt, and smoothing out the ground. 🤷🏻♂️
Ya I'm looking forward to using mine, still a lil early up here in good old Canada.
Great video!
Thank you!!
