    This. Plan. Worked. A year ago, I tried running my first ultramarathon, the Lake Sonoma 50 miler. With almost 10,000 ft of gain, it was admittedly a bold (foolish) first ultra attempt. I bonked hard at mile 38 and barely crossed the finish line just 11 minutes ahead of the official time cutoff. It was painful. This time, I read Training for the Uphill Athlete and followed the plan described and linked to in this video. Not perfectly, but pretty darn close. This year at the same race, I finished an hour ahead of last years time and I honestly felt I could have finished faster. But I went from finishing 195th overall in a lot of pain to finishing 93rd overall with plenty of gas in the tank and a day that I really enjoyed. These are not competitive or bragging placements 😂. But to feel so good while doing something big for me was the goal and this plan was a huge piece of the puzzle. Thank you!

      Yay! I’m so happy it worked for you! This is the reason I’m making these videos so it means a lot that you took the time to come back and talk about your success. Keep up the good work. 100 mile here we come! Haha

    What are your thoughts on doing this 16 wk plan after after a block of marathon training?

    • @runningforviews
      @runningforviews  8 месяцев назад +1

      I think that should work perfectly. Maybe take a couple weeks easy after the marathon but after that you should be good to go!

    The volume during the week seems unusually low and very high on the weekends. Maybe I missed it but how much lifting is done?

      Yeah, the training relies a lot on back to back long runs. They’re not for everyone but they work great for me. I usually incorporate them into my training instead of doing B races. As for lifting I mostly just do core and leg workouts.
