Ryan this is refreshing. Not only are you talking doubles (my favorite), everything you are saying is 100% accurate. Well done!

@@2MinuteTennis I think it’s not much of a reach to say nearly 99% of coaches don’t know exactly where the 4 players should go in that lob situation, let alone the players themselves 🤪

1st volley was a tough redirect to hit the proper shot. These guys were plenty quick enough to go back and hit a good overhead and by closing the net they took away the ground stroke at their feet. Overall, good strategy on both sides. I’m playing against a former NCAA doubles champ and his stronger partner later today and we’ll get lobbed a lot due to the sun. We won’t close the net like those guys because we’re a lot older, but we will close. I have seen Tammen and Fedderly play behind the service line even on grass but that is because we are older and can’t get back as well as the college kids. We also have 6” verticals instead of 24” verticals. BTW, I won a lot of points yesterday because our opponents didn’t close well enough after lobbing into the sun and I just hit a groundstroke at their feet.

Really helpful! I find you a little bit harsh on the first comment re no man’s land, looks to me that receiver’s partner put himself further behind no man’s land (if you know what I mean) to split step and be in ready position in no man’s land (ie right behind service line) when server hit his second ball.

@@2MinuteTennis I’ve seen in many videos of college players (or pros) where receiving team is making signs with one another. I have no idea what they are communicating. I thought maybe one is telling the other am gonna poach but nothing usually happens after the return so am clueless.

Agree. He was back to step and split.

Haha I know what people will write before they write them. I’ve been teaching for 26 years…I know every argument against my teaching before it happens. Thanks!!!
