what is the website you've used to download the nds game files?
Keep in mind this doesn't work well for local multiplayer. It disconnects to frequently. Twilight menu, R4, or just the real cartridge games will work. I have four 3ds and we had to resort to Twilight menu for more power and stability on local multiplayer

Great tutorial, but one thing to note that I ran into for others to consider. I hit a ceiling of 50 installs for the DS games. Once I tried anything beyond 50, I got an error that said something to the tune of "No more DSiWare can be installed 50" So there is a limit to the number of DS games you can install - and it had nothing to do with my SD card, because all of my DS games fit on my MicroSD card just fine, but it just won't allow more than 50 installs.
Yeah that's the dsi game limit on your home menu, I forgot to mention it in the video sorry :(
wait wasnt there a 3ds homebrew app that essentially lets you create versions of your home screen? you could bypass it

can you use wireless communications on these ds games? for example can I get the keys for hard mode from an original copy of pokemon black 2? or trade pokemon? (this is a hypothetical question, I know theirs other methods to do this) also wanted to say thank you so much for your guides! Your videos are incredibly helpful and easy to follow! a master teacher!
NOTE: bringing Pokemon games to the menu will not allow them to be compatible with poke transporter

Why won't let me download ds forwarder, its say that fail
Now I can play the Minions game that I lost in my mom’s car!
What I was hoping I could achieve with this was to play DS games from sd card natively on the 3ds but that doesn't seem to be the case here. twilight menu doesn't really play at full compatibility cause there's some problems with games like trying to use features where you can connect to the Wii and other things. guess I'll just have to get an R4 card if I want full compatibility with DS games.

First of all, great video! I had actually already done this before for a NSMB ds rom, which worked, but I wanted to give it another shot for Super Mario Endless Earth. For some reason, I can run through all the steps properly but it won't actually forward the image for it! Any help?

when i try to download the nds fowarder thru the universal updater it instantly says "nds.Fowarder.3dsx failed!", how do i install the fowarder?

edit: just in case, it seems you can't! didn't try but rather trust that answer lol
Big note: the part there you actually use the application you need WiFi otherwise nothing will show up, once you're connected you can follow the video

Is it possible to download rom hacks with this method, I have a .nds file of newer super Mario bros DS, but when I try to install it from the forwarder, it just says complete but never shows up on my Home Screen.
8/23/2024, still works. I tried to find out how to do this all over before I found this. Had twilight menu but this is a fair bit easier.
It's weird, I've mentioned your video on other RUclipsr's videos who are still mentioning twilight menu. I figured it will help the 3ds homebrew community if more ppl new and they completely ignore my comment. I shout you out and tell them that this way is better and easier and that it's a good quality of life improvement. It's so weird, they have to keep their RUclips videos relevant at all cost, even if it's something new and good involved. I guess they feel like I'm taking away from their channel but this helps everyone.
i appreciate you sharing it! i know sharing links usually gets comments blocked in comment sections, but i think people prefer twilight because you can use cheats and get the widescreen patch. But they don't even usually tell viewers there's an easier option if they just want to play the game

Works great, do you know if there's a way I can add patches to these versions? Like analog support for Mario 64 DS, for example. I can only find tutorials for Twilight versions.

go into your settings, software, and you should see the games there and can delete them from there
Sept 23 2024 just tried this with my 3ds and for some reason my homebrew failed to launch NDS forwarder. not sure how i am to fix this problem.

I think if you go to SD Card Management App it’ll show all your software and you can delete it from there, if not maybe check the activity log?

I have seen some coments saying that creating forwarders actually hurts the motherboard of your 3ds, is this actually true? I mean i dont believe that shi at all but some people are really annoying with that

I go to install the cia, it says it installed, I then go into the home menu and it is nowhere to be found. (I've done this 5 different times)
I did not mod my own ds i had someone do it for me and without having to make a folder I was able to find the games and add them to my homescreen. srry for grammar mistakes

I had the same, for me it was that my 3ds wasn’t on the right WiFi connection. So check that.
Same it’s not downloading and it’s keeps failing and the wifi connection is good
