I honestly really wish this was traditional animation. The cgi feels stilted.
Deal with it.
JohnCaseyCB Um, I am not saying it wont be good. I just prefer the style of past Ghibli films.
Toxic Toucan their usual style just isnt plausible for a regularly updating show.
That may vary well be true but they sure as hell have the name and backing to either do a slightly lower quality drawn styled anime or better CGI. This is not an issue of cgi vs drawn animation. This is actual garbage CGI.
Exactly, the cgi reminds me of the cgi from the early 2000's. Pretty robotic. Still might give it a try, just kinda disappointed as Studio Ghibli art is some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. This just doesn't hold a candle to its predecessors.
i cried a lot because of ronja and birk🤗..and laugh a lot too.this show is interesting, funny and sad but i'm glad it has a happy ending.i will surely miss this show.i finished all the episodes.
I'm so sad that all you guys don't like the animation style, when this is actually pretty good CG. If you want to see bad CG go watch Berserk 2016.
I can't believe how negative some of you are about this. So what if it's not traditionally animated? It’s still a gorgeous series, everything and everyone looks beautiful the voice actors are perfect and the characters are terrific!
The Miyazaki Senior got a lot of influence today or He just share the preference of many anime lovers.
I don't like Berserk recent adaptations for the same CGI still not good for Anime.
The harpies look AMAZING
It looks charming, but I think it'd be even more so if it were animated in 2D like the rest of the Ghibli films. I don't think 3D suits the style very well.
This anime is not from Studio Ghibli, but from Studio Polygron Pictures and is the anime that has the best animation in the studio.
I understand that hand drawn films are more expensive to make, but man, this looks pretty bad. at least make the cgi look less robotic.
Its a GREAT show give it a chance
This show is very underrated, i loved it when i had first watched it
i knew this looked like studio ghibli! not sure i feel good about how its being animated though... i like the classic form of animation more then this- this looks a bit choppy...
This is based of the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren's book. So if you're interested there is a book, altho keep in mind, she was a children's author.
I just took up the book to read it for the first time in my life. It's a precious thing, and can easily be read by adults without being underwhelming or too simple. Lindgren is a fantastical author, and the quality of her writing and imagination goes to show how much she loved, cared for and understood children.
I recommend reading her, if only to wake up your inner child for a bit.
I am actually surprised people don't like this animation. It has its particular simplified style, specific to most Japanese cartoons. We love it!!! Not everything should be the same. Great work - beautiful music, well-designed characters, humor and kindness, not to mention that it's based on our beloved Astrid Lindgren.
It looks good as a still image, however it does not move well in animation
Mattice: The one who throws a fit when he dosent get what he wants.
Ronja: The Go-Getter
Birk: The charming
Pitter Pete: The old one.
The wife: The one in charge of everything.
I found I really got used to the differences in the animation from the usual Ghibli look as the show went along, and the story is simply PRECIOUS! From a sheer technical standpoint, could the character movement be improved? Probably, BUT it also really, really, REALLY wasn’t a deal breaker on whether I could enjoy this piece of art, and honestly, I hope I can produce comic work someday that is as endearing as this tv show. There’s so much about this series that is charming and beautiful - the world that’s created through characters and setting, the amount of heart in the story, the music style, and the fantastic sense of humor. This is a gently paced story, and that’s a part of its charm - it takes its time unfolding, all while we get to know Ronja, along with her sometimes outrageous band of robbers, and her beautiful forest with all its creatures. I just hope I can own a copy of this someday, whether on disc or digital.
I truly did live the anime and wish there was more of Ronja and Birk adventure (if there is plz let me know where to find them)
Search Ronja rövardotter. Its a book by Astrid Lindgren. One of the biggest child book writers of all time. There is an old Swedish movie of it too with epic music
Read the book! It's not a very thick one, as it is for children, but it is superbly written and a great deal of fun even for adults.
I recommend it. Beautiful show!
Wish there was a way to stream it in Japanese with subtitles...
Man, there's a lot of hate on the animation in these comments coming from people who haven't seen the show. I have, and I assure you all it's not nearly as bad as the naysayers think.
it looks really cute, where do you watch it?
Well, the only legal way to watch it is via Amazon Video. There exist other methods too, but you should stick with Amazon.
Pikminiman Pikminiman I agree - it’s a thoroughly worthwhile watch. 😊👍
Lol who cares about those haters? We think the animation is great, that’s what matters!
i watched this on my kindle 7 yrs ago this brings back memories fr
They made an anime version of this Swedish story??? It looks really good!
I really don't care about the animation, I just want a good story and interesting characters.
This the show for you then
Same, i don't care about animations, the important thing on a series or movie is how the story goes and characters that fit well with it
I hope there Japanese audio!
I grew up with the original Swedish movie and i still love it, so i am gonna watch this.
There is a movie of it?
@@kailashchandrasahu7466 yes, came out 1984 and are a classic, all swedes have seen this and love this movie.
@@Droglakahn I will see it's live action on Netflix
Birk is so cute and charming 😚😊
For those that say the CGI looks terrible (to which I am one of them), Goro Miyazaki directed this, not Hayao. I'll still give it a chance though if I ever get a Prime account
firstly, this is a really good show. I managed to binge watch it in two days, i probably could've done it in one if i had started earlier. Secondly, i really REALLY want to know what accent they have. I can't seem to pinpoint it since I'm not very good with accents to start with. Specifically Birk, his accent sounds wonderful but i wish i knew what it was. So if anyone could tell me, that would be wonderful!
Can somebody please tell me the name of the music in this trailer
Can't wait to watch the episodes. I've got the press release copy with the first 13 ep.
It’s because the faces are PROPERLY animated! The eyes are everything! That’s what Dragon Prince S3 was missing.
anybody know the second piece of music that plays in the background?
Awesome show, great job by the folks at Amazon full of great messages regardless of age.
I was lookin forward to it, until i realised the whole anime is done in CGI. Sorry I guess I am sitting this one out.
Best CGI Anime
Started watching this earlier today, and I'm really enjoying it, nearly everything about it so far!
Also I was like "So this is what Mr. Hayao Miyazaki's art style looks like in CG?... Cool.."
It's actually directed by his son Goro Miyazaki :)
3Yrs late watching this😀Anyone in 2020💞
The original movie is called Ronja Røverdatter its a Swedish film you can go watch it for yourself
The boy looks like Armin from AoT
Good background art and all that, but CGI is not okay.
My heart bleeds for this one, as I LOVE Ronan’s story and I LOVE Ghibli. But Ronja is such an authentic Scandinavian story that giving it a robotic animated feature is sooo…wrong. And I was waiting for this one for a couple of years. What a disappointment:((
Oh my G that's the biggest unintentional trap I've seen from Ghibli.
This anime is not from Studio Ghibli, but from Studio Polygron Pictures and is the anime that has the best animation in the studio.
one can hope that Hayao Miyazaki's next film which he is coming out of retirement for, is traditional hand drawn.
Wish this was coming to Netflix... but it looks great! I love anything done by Studio Ghibli :)
The story is promising, but that animation is not pleasing.
.
I really shouldn't be shipping characters from my childhood show
To be honest birk and ronja are more like siblings in this series
I really do not like this format of converting 3D to a facsimile of a 2D cartoon.
They look & move quirky. The story itself is beautiful & with beautiful music. It's the style that bugs me.
Old movies also has 2D animation like ponyo , spirit away
The CG is terrible :( I'm so dissapointed
Ugh. I love Studio Ghibli so much, But that animation SUCKS.
Kunzite Universe It looks so unnatural, the movement doesn't support the animation.
if you two are gonna hate than I have one thing to suggest to you two... IF YOU TWO ARE GONNA HATE I WIL REPORT YOU BOTH!!!
well I think that it is a good show. But yes the animation Is of a bit of.
Azar Ali
this looks awful, rest in piece ghibli.
Goro is Ruining his Father Legacy Studio Ghibli :(
Robbers daughter and demon slayer
Ugh this animation looks horrible, can't believe this is Ghibli.
I still don’t trust mattas
ni no kuni 2 looks better
Wow, that was terrible looking, the premise, the voice acting, the cgi, it's some of the crappiest stuff I've seen for a long time, I love studio ghibli, but this is embarrassing.
peppa pig
Hmmm nope the magic isn't there. CGI sucks, it has to die.
This show...I have seen it...I expected a lot more from Studio Ghibli, but this show has a bad story line. Fell free do disagree, but it's true. (compared to the other works from Studio Ghibli).
This Goro CGI is an insult to life itself. Ghibli's gone downhill ever since delving into too much medieval fantasy crap. Looks so uninteresting and uninspired. Not a fan of boys with girls haircuts or birds with human heads tacked on. They always do that nowadays. It's almost like they're trying to do a "World Masterpiece Theater" tv series, but it just comes across as generic anime.
