I bought a Samsung Galaxy S20 Mini PC from Ali Express. It has a metal housing, heat sink and fan. I paired it with the Uperfect 15.6" touch screen monitor that acts as a single hub then I put the new Raspberry Pi Keyboard Hub on it and also got a phone upgrade to a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. I am extremely happy with the whole thing and would recommend it for someone wanting an Android OS.

The Atrix was at least half a decade before its time. I wanted that thing so bad. It wasn't exactly the same as today's desktop modes as I believe it was an entirely separate instance of linux but conceptually it was the same.

I have a Samsung Galaxy s22 ultra I use on my TV with a Bluetooth controller usually a xbox controller best way to play old games etc imo or say u don't have a xbox console but still wanna play xbox games do it this way with gamepass great new games big TV controller etc u can't lose

FYI. This phone does not have a micro SD card slot. I would suggest the Galaxy S20 with a Snapdragon 865. Less powerful yes, but being able to expand storage on the fly is super convenient for this type of stuff.
Motorola's issue is ther update policy On their flagship it's only 1 or 2 new android versions while for Samsung now it's I guess 4 new android versions

I've been thinking about getting a travel laptop, something that I can use to remote into my home PC. I think a phone like this might be a good both cheap, and compact way to go about this.

The thinkphone has been really tempting now that it's priced under $400 brand new on Amazon. I love the look. I guess the cameras are something of a weak spot compared to a pixel or something but the desktop mode, the thermals, the design, the ruggedness... It's very tempting

Very impressive for the specs and cost on offer. I'm surprised that F-Zero GX would not run at 720p considering the power that the Gen1 puts out. Would have been useful to see PS2/Wii performance. The desktop mode seems to just work as you want, right from the off with no need to touch developer options or mess around to get more full screen mode. A potential choice for those that might have looked at an SBC, where the GPIO stuff is not important but where power and all round performance would likely trump most of the boards out there. It is a shame that the Gen1 never supported AV1 out of the box because that would have covered the bases for pretty much most media player/streaming capabilities today and tomorrow. It's abut time that Samsung had some real competition in this area and long overdue for all phones to come with video over USB-C as an industry standard.
It would be nice to see comparison of Motorola and Samsung desktop modes. Also, how selecting text and copy&paste works? I have heard there are some problems on Dex. Also, is there some limitations in number of openned windows as there is for instance on Dex running on Tab6 lite?
would it not be more effective to attach the cooler to the glass screen of the phone rather than the back, since a lot of the heat is sinked to the oled screen already? that's assuming that youre not using the phone for anything else other than a desktop.

My Phone is technically stronger than my PC, but there's only so much one could do to utilise that power and Ready For is just the perfect solution for that My PC struggles to run games on the Dolphin Emulator but my Phone is able to run them perfectly on any settings. But the only problem with the phone. Now I can run Emulated games on phones and play them on PC 😂😂 And BTW, my Moto g54 didn't come with Ready For but it works completely fine by just installing the Ready For apk 😂😂

They've been pushing it more on their tablets I think since those can use Samsung DeX without connecting to another display.

That phone is an absolute steal at 120 but I can't find it anywhere at that price anymore. Cheapest I can find it is like $240
You can also look for the G100 that is less powerful (S870) but still good enough and cheaper

The biggest question with these is the workflow. Because something like hosting a zoom call can be very frustrating from Android.
a used note9 is another good option along with a dex dock (which has a built in fan)

as long as it need screen mapping when using joystick, definitely feels less game like due to ui still need mouse or touch screen help

Depends. Having a charge limit like Samsung, at 85% will help slow it down.
