Without Vessel's vocals, it really brings out just how goddamn heavy those guitars are in combination with the drums! So good.
I noticed that on a few of their "softer" songs while listening to the intrumental albums.. pretty cool to hear the hidden heaviness
@@ryanlennon6269I told somebody the other day that if you played the instrumental of Alkaline without having heard the original, the second verse is extremely heavy!
The mix here is a little better than the original song too, my only complaint about sleep tokens older stuff is the mix of their distorted guitars, everything other than that sounds amazing, and it sounds phenomenal in their new album, but the older stuff, the notes arent very clear, maybe its too distorted? Im not sure how the mixing works, but yea, its not just bringing out the heaviness, it actually sounds better and heavier the way they mixed it here

@@boykidmanboykidman5420 According to George Lever, they recorded the bass and guitars on the early albums extremely quickly (over a couple of days) and they needed so many tunings that instead of restringing and retuning the guitar multiple times they actually just recorded the really low parts on the bass guitar. They strung it with a very light gauge string to mimic a guitar tone and ran it through the pedals/amps that IV would use live. So it does sound a bit "weird" in that regard
This guy always plays for the song, while slipping in subtle hints of his phenomenal technique. Live, he’s an unleashed machine of spiritualized percussive fury. Definitely one of the coolest drummers to come out in recent times!
His style reminds me a bit of nic Petterson of northlane

It is more difficult to use one than it is to keep good time without one. Without one, someone drags, someone pushes and no matter how perfect drummer thinks they are, an adjustment happens to occur, the band adjusts to it, so often it goes unnoticed. The band may not even notice, only if the click was there, it would have force corrected it. Just use it no arguing It messes with creativity when you argue with a drummer that won't use one. Drummers that won't use one only choose not to use one because they are not as perfect as they want to believe. If they have such great timing they don't need one, then they won't have a problem using one.@@thankyoumisterspell

Facts
Absolutely love that these guys decided to release instrumental versions of their albums. They have such a unique way of structuring songs with beautifully unique sounds. I have never heard a band with such creative electronic elements.

They are amazing live, I saw them almost 4 weeks ago and I am just hoping I get to see them again in the near future, they're incredible.

Brotha I saw them over a year ago. Went to see In This Moment and they were opening. Had no clue what I was watching at the time, but became an IMMEDIATE fan!! Cut to now, and they're one of the biggest bands out there in my opinion. I can hit play on their Spotify Playlist and not skip a single song! I can't recall the last time I was so enamored with a band as much as I am with Sleep Token!
So how was the show?
Sleep Token is one of those names I've seen popping up but never checked out.
I checked the last preview for II and I'm blown away, especially as a drummer myself. Dude you have so much groove it's illegal.
II is crazy on the kit. Never gets the love he deserves.

These offering videos from II are the best drum videos I've ever seen. I'm a guitarist and hardly ever watch drum videos, but these hit on a different level. Amazing work. I love you Sleep Token, thank you for getting me through the dark night of my soul
Yeah I remember the 80s...all 108 days I was there to witness it.
No joke, as a drummer who wants to become a professional, you guys have been my biggest inspiration. I have always adored your music, especially Vessel's amazing voice and the drums. I am learning to play your songs, and i listen to you guys 24/7. You guys are the most influencial band i have ever listened to, since it introduced me into the metal scene.
In conclusion, Sleep Token has been the band that inspired me to practice more and more, and you guys are my own personal heroes. Worship.

I back this comment. While Vessel gets most of the accolades and recognition (And mostly rightfully so), The songs and band itself are testament to the talent and creativity of ALL 4 of them.
