The Scottish Colourists were some of the most important and avant-garde artists working during the early 20th century. Their art was bold and vibrant and unlike anything that had been produced in Britain before. Sotheby’s upcoming sale ‘The Way of Colour: Pictures from the Harrison Collection’ (10 - 17 March) offers Fauvist inspired paintings by George Leslie Hunter, stunning still-lifes by Francis Campbell Boileau Cadell and Cezanne-like work by Samuel John Peploe.

Beautiful 😍
That was lovely, made my day to see such beauty saved thru the ages!
It always amazes me
how beautiful works of art can bring life into a room.🎨
👍🏻☺️ *GREAT²* 😉✌🏻🇪🇺
When I was 14 years old, my classmate painted pictures of the same quality.
So effing what?
Considering what was going on in Europe - Cubism, Fauvism,. Vorticism etc., and the Colourists are doing still life, (Peploe and his black lines around fruit) and derivative landscapes. No mention here of Fergusson, who outshone them all but of course it's a puff-piece for a sale of not-very-good paintings and if you like this sort of thing, fair enough but they are not investments. The movement has not aged well and prices have long since peaked.
These are not really “vibrant”. They are good amateur art works.m
