It's a shame that Rembrandt couldn't have shared in some of the wealth that will be spent on this painting. He died very poor.

He did indeed live "la dolce vita" at one time, but he consumed beyond his means to take. Let us not mourn his loss of fortune, but rather celebrate the paintings he left behind for our enjoyment and profit. Perhaps he would have wanted it that way.
