Fish n Chips by the seaside, a 99 ice cream and you got pissed and staggered home! You don't get much more quintessentially British than that! Hope you loved your time here, Spencer.
Exactly- a stick of rock would have been a ten.
Fish and chips is actually a Portuguese concoction
that's 3/4 of the UK citizenship test!
@@AlainnCorcaighoh get a grip, human beings were probably combining fish with potatoes for thousands of years. Doesn’t take away from the fact, the British are universally known for eating fish and chips.
@AlainnCorcaigh True! Plus, our obsession with tea came from Catherine of Braganza, Charles II's wife. She was Portuguese.
Leaving camera unattended was brave of you @ the zebra crossing
He's a lucky boy someone didn't steal that
was thinking the same
You're brave to eat on the beach! Seagulls are little bastards. One of my favourite memories of my dad is us sitting at a beach eating fish n chips. A gull swept down and grabbed my fish before I'd eaten my first chip. My dad was crying with laughter, even though he'd paid for it. 10 seconds later, another flew past and shat in his food. So 5 minutes later we went back to the chippy and the guy guessed what happened before we said anything and came out with "we'd be out of business without those gulls, bless 'em".
I lost a panini to one of them last year. Seagull didn't even say thanks!
"Speaking of those pints... i'm drunk as fuck right now." 🤣
Glad you're enjoying your time on our shores so far.
the "american getting destroyed by walking " meme always makes me laugh
Off camera, Spencer was 2 hours going back and forth on Abbey Road.
I’m British and walking around London as a visitor is a killer! Add in the jet lag and hangover and I’d be staking out a pub with a comfy sofa!
Fair play for jumping on all the public transport, from multiple trains and connections, to bumpy and unfamiliar bus routes. Some of those train journeys aren't short either! Many people wouldn't be confident, or brave enough to be hopping all over the place on the public transport in a foreign country. Props to you!
Glad you enjoyed Swansea. I painted the rooms in the Dragon Hotel about 25 years ago. You're definitely right Joe's ice cream is probably the best vanilla ice cream in the world. Enjoy the rest of your trip... 🏴
Pissed Americans drinking English beer! Yes! That’s what I subbed for. 🏴🇬🇧😍🍻
Lol, seaside chippy, few pints, stagger home, you nailed being a brit mate, well done... Keep the vids coming, great stuff...
Whilst not on the typical tourist trail, you definitely got a good authentic "British experience" with the things you did. Nice one.
Absolutely loving these vlogs Spencer…..and I’m so pleased you had a flake in your ice cream 😂 it’s the best! X
Yes, but he didn’t have any red sauce!!!
Loving this. Seaside, walking till your feet hurt, ice-cream, fish and chips and pints. Could you have had a more "British" visit?! My only advice would have been, if you're drinking more pints, write down the address of where you're staying. That way if you lose the ability to speak properly you can just hand it to a taxi driver 🤪🤣
I did that the first time I went to ibiza, got absolutely fucked first night lost all me mates and didn't have a clue where or what the name of me hotel was, had no battery on me phone either.
😂 that’s what I used to do on a ‘lad’s holidays’ 20 odd years ago!!! Just in case… fail to prepare, prepare to fail and all that!
Really loving how much you have embraced the public transport and just jumped on and travelled around, its been really great watching your travels.
Oh Spenser, how I loved this video!!!
Watching you after a few bevvy’s had me crying with laughter 😂
Thank you for making my day 👍🏼🇬🇧
Did you realise that Swansea and Mumbles is the gateway to The Gower, one of the most stunning areas in Wales . It is an incredibly beautiful peninsula, surrounded by iconic beaches and cliffs cared for by The National Trust. Rhosilli and Worm’s Head (named after a dragon ) are unbelievable. I wish someone local could have driven you to these truly wonderful places. I used to live in Swansea and went to university there. The Welsh are very hospitable people - never be afraid to ask for help.
Britain's first designated area of "Outstanding Natural Beauty "
I'm born and raised on Gower. I'd have loved to have done that if I'd known he was going to be here.
By the way, for Doctor Who nerds, the scene in "Torchwood - Miracle day", near the end of episode 1 where they were driving along a beach and shot down a helicopter was filmed in Rhosilli, Gower. The location coordinates given to the American agent were actually more or less correct too!
Yes, an' I've got a cousin Mike and he've got a motor bike an' e can get round the Gower in a ......
You're doing it properly. I'm impressed! You're really getting into the authentic experience. BTW, junk food while pissed is not only recommended, it's the law!
Britain has had pretty close ties with Asia, not necessarily positive, especially India and China. But it does mean a fair bit of their culture made it back to Britain and mixed with our culture making something superior to both.
Also lol at the cut from a nice quiet pub to walking with a mcdonalds and "I'm drunk as fuck right now". Really getting into the British culture.
Glad you are not just sticking in London
He went to several English places, and Cardiff, Swansea and Glasgow I think.
@@RWL2012 much more than that - good man! possibly too much?
@@RWL2012 None of those 3 places are English
Spencer, a nice introduction to the first full day of discovering the U.K. that many American tourists don’t see! Looking forward to your next post.😎
Oasis 100% refreshing, and the bottle makes it very 'Gluggable' 😆
A cold bottle of Oasis is so refreshing!
Yum❤
I love the Citrus one.
Glad you enjoyed my home city. It actually has lots of stunning beaches (if you count Gower as part of Swansea) . Would have deffo joined you for a pint if I’d known you were in town .
Best beaches in the UK, plus Weobley Castle and King Arthurs Stone.
My granny was from Clydach she always used to tell me about when she used to walk to the mumbles on her own as a little girl. How times change
@@cheryltotheg2880 My late Mother was from Killay, She used to go riding wild ponies on the Gower Moors by herself as a young girl... as you say, times have changed.
The beaches of south and SW wales are comparable to Cornwall in terms of how big and wide they are. Good surfing too. They are a bit lacking in amenities though. But the drive into and through is amazing once you get past the Cardiff M4 inevitable traffic
My grandparents were from Swansea- many happy childhood memories at '3 cliffs' beach
I commiserate with you Spencer, the brits do a lot of walking, and with a lot of hills in Wales, we are accustomed to it.
Glad you were ok after a few drinks, sounded like you were getting drunk right down to your boots.
You are definitely now an honorary Brit!
Yes, the pints are stronger but much tastier than US ale, the Welsh are friendlier and more homely than Londoners (you get more friendly the more north you get) and the card/cash thing varies all over, poorer areas tend to prefer cash.
Sounds like youre enjoying it!
Ah that makes sense, you pay cash in places where they like drugs more
Rubbish! I would far prefer to use cash for daily shopping and in cafes etc.If you are on a limited budget far easier to keep track of what you are spending..@@samuelpinder1215
That was a lovely look at South Wales. Thanks for travelling here and glad you loved the Welsh Cakes! As you found, too, we have a wealth of food here in the UK...especially authentic cuisine that isn't from the UK! I'm off to Swansea this weekend for the annual Air Show, which is free for all as the various planes fly across Swansea Bay, out at sea.
You can find thousands of YT videos of Americans wandering around London or one of the other 'big cities' - mad respect for starting in Swansea- you got a feel of grass roots Britain- well done Spemcer for being a bit different. I raised an eyebrow at being somewhat muntered after 4 pints, then I remembered the comparative strengths of our respective beers... 🤣
I’m so invested in your trip 😂. The silly walk my dad would approve 😂. My granny was Welsh I grew up eating her warm home made Welsh cakes. Amazing. She always talked about mumbles it’s lovely I haven’t visited for a couple of years
Spencer, you're living your best life there at 2:21.. Love it 😂
Hi Spencer! I finished university in Swansea this time last year after four years there- your video has brought back some great memories. Swansea can be a bit of a sh*t hole but it’s a place that becomes a second home. It’s beautiful beaches and the friendly people (+ the mental Welsh girls😉) make it what it is. It’s certainly a great place to spend some years between 18-24 ish!
Hope you enjoyed your time there!
I'm glad you liked Swansea! Thanks for coming here x
You're welcome, thanks for being awesome, I'll be back! X
Great vlog Spencer lovely scenery
As a brit, I always had massive respect for you and Daniel. Your acceptance and knowledge of strong UK accents etc. (most Americans wouid just say 'what¿?!!/' to the mildest of dialects), but your solo trip to the UK has taken my respect to another level dude.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I live in porthcawl. By the sea. Slap bang in the middle between Cardiff and Swansea.
You made it here on a lovely day. Believe, it's not always like that.
So glad you made it to the UK and seem to be having a fantastic time....keep those vlogs coming!!
This is great, best travel vlog on the internet and wow that fish looked good!
Jps loves his meal deals 👍 wales is the best 🏴❤️
These vlogs are great. Takes courage to travel alone and to do it whilst capturing it all is super impressive.
Looking forward to the next🤘👊
Glad you are enjoying your time in the UK!
Spencer, I wish I knew you were in Swansea. We could have chewed the fat over a beer, and shared our appreciation of ska band Bad Manners.
Take care sir 😊
Glad you liked the Welsh cake. We're very proud of our Welsh food.
Brilliant video. Welcome to Wales 🏴
Loved your Beatle walk👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
A lot of smaller places prefer cash as they have to pay commission on card payments ie Sum Up
Little bit off the beaten path!Poeni chwerthin/ Laughter pains🤣😂🤣You need to visit Gogledd Cymru/North Wales too. Amazing scenery and castles🙂🏴
I live in the Swansea area and I do not know why it is so maligned it is a city that was very bombed out during WWII and has been fully refurbished. It is a University city and unlike Cardiff which had docks and a bay, Swansea has a promanade, pier and a beach. The surrounds are very pretty we are just sorry we cannot provide warm water, lol.
I agree Swansea is lovely and be fair the bags around the Gower are beautiful Langland and Caswell are my favourite
You are very good at travel videos.
Thank you, I may have found my new calling!
@@EmbraceTheSuck21 I think so.
Great video man, enjoyed it
Welcome....Finally made the UK Spencer lad. I hope you visit Yorkshire ❤
Done my courting in the no sign bar in the early 70s, worked right opposite in the old Post Office as a postman, good memories ,Swansea boy born and bred, wouldn't live anywhere else, glad you enjoyed my City,PS,I was in Twin Town as an extra,I was in the Indian Restaurant also in the big house just off the Mumles Rd,the house was owned by the guy who owned the Pier😊

Great Vlog btw!
Good to see you up and running (well, walking). Enjoy every second mate.
love your vids man
Loving your UK Journey Spencer ❤😊
Great to see you're enjoying yourself.
This is ace! Thanks ☺️
Thanks for visiting my home town! enjoy the rest of your trip man.
Swansea and Gower are where my family are from, every summer we'd go to Mumbles. Great choice to start your journey. Good idea to mix big and small towns. Cymru am Byth!
Loving you. Don't second guess yourself and your choices, Spencer. This comes from a girl who spent a 3 day New Year Fest with her husband in The Savoy Hotel, London. We left the "suite" they'd upgraded us to with a wastepaper basket full of Burger King wrappers. God's Honest :o)
Brilliant, welcome and i hope you have a great time on your adventures.
Really enjoying these more than I thought I would. Glad to see you hammered on the cider.
Loving your trip. Fond memories of Swansea and the surrounding area since my kids went to the university.
good for you, spence, have a good time.
Your going to love your trip man ! ❤
Hope you enjoyed your time in the UK. Looking forward to seeing your other locations. 👌👌
Really enjoyed the video. I enjoyed how genuinely appreciative you were of the opportunity to visit the UK. Glad you had a pint or two and look forward to tye future videos in this series showing us your trip to the UK.
Thank you for visiting my hometown! glad you had fun :)
Well done Spencer
Perhaps Simon on the Inbetweeners would have made a good life for himself in Swansea after all !! About 15 miles west of Mumbles is the spectacular sand beach at Rhossili and the nearby spectacular headland, Worms Head, with its dragon-like outline. 👍
It's insane I have been following you guys for ages and you've gone to my home town Mumbles!! It has literally blown my mind ha ha
Should have got a kebab on your way home. Swansea is a very down to earth city. Doing a pub crawl round the mumbles mile is always fun. Glad you’re enjoying your trip and can’t wait till you get to the Liam gig.
LOOOOOOOOL love the ending mate 👍🏻👌🏻❤️🇬🇧
Waheey, at 6.22 that's where I work nice to see you exploring not just london/england like so many do and they don't get the proper authentic UK experience
Great vlog:)
Nice to see you visiting my hometown Spencer 👍
❤❤ great first vlog Spencer. Glad you found some company at the end of the day to have a pint with. Swansea looks like a sweet place too.
Am looking forward to the next one.
I'm loving watching your vlog Spencer shame I missed you
Great video. I love solo travelling. You get to do what you want to do without rushing for others. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the UK
Welcome to Britain Spencer, I hope you have a great time 👍 love your channel 👍👍🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
Really loving this series Spencer. It warms my cockles to see you enjoy your trip here to the UK. Looking forward to more of the same ❤️🙌🏻 stay safe and keep your eye out for any Micropubs on your journey. They will usually sell the best ales and ciders. 😌
welcome to the UK mate
Glad to see you made it across man. Hope you get to see a footie match while youre here.
Glad you enjoyed. My home town. I've drunk in every one of those pubs.
Love you tried Welsh Cakes! My mum used to make them growing up and I still buy them from M&S when I get the chance.
Well done mate, glad you had fun 👍 Fair play for doing this on your own, i also follow itsjps, his vids were also decent.
Look forward to more
8:02 Sums up a lot of Swansea tbf, especially Piss Alley by the Bank Statement
I live in London . I am not a Beatles or python fan but watching you cross the road was hilarious.
11:13 Lol beach shoes for the win! 😅
Loving these vlogs Spencer 😂 Drunk Spencer is a happy Spencer 😊
I'm so gutted you were in Swansea,I only saw this yesterday,I would have met you for a pint I'm a Swansea boy and love your channel. Also it's my friend standing by the bar in No sign wine bar 😂
I was born in London and lived there most of my life , last place I lived was Finsbury Park , I used to walk to work in Covent Garden 7.2km (4.5miles) almost everyday , and walk home at night and think nothing of it, but then again when I was a teenager I'd wake up at 5 and go run 10km before breakfast. Now I live in the south of France and literally everyone takes the car to go 1km to a local shop .... I'm sure I couldn't walk the same distances now as I did back when I was in London.
GwR are a great train service, and I use them a lot ❤ The fish and chips by the seaside, perfect setting!
You dont have to trust us for a translation. the English on the sign underneath is the translation of the Welsh above. Have a great trip!
🤣🤣🤣loved the Walk across the road
Glad you enjoyed Swansea. My mother in law was from Mumbles and my wife to be and me stayed in the Dragon Hotel when I first visited back in 1978. Happy days. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your travels. Hope you sampled plenty of different ales, lol.
You went to the Mumbles! I used to love going there when I lived in Wales.
It's strange watching you walk about places I've frequented in Swansea. Not two things I'd put together a picture.😊
When i saw Spencer with that Irn Bru in the train station i winced. Never buy snacks in a train station or onboard a train. they cost double what they do obn the high street!
Mumbles is known as the Gateway to The Gower Peninsular which was designated Britains first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An hour circular bus ride would have given you a taste of some wonderful cuntryside.
Welcome to Wales! You're a natural at this vlogging thing Spencer. Have a great time in Cardiff and have a pint of Brains Dark for me :)
I'm from Neath (the stop on the train before you get to Swansea). I travel down from Edinburgh to see family and the train journey is absolutely lovely (even if it is 6-7 hours, but only 1 change over).
Spent many a weekend in Swansea in my youth and glad you enjoyed it
