    Lot of people keep asking about the snare and the song.
    Snare needed to be changed because of the torn batter head.

      Shows Danny Carey's capacity - it's a lifetime of experience at the highest level. I'm sure he can hold conversation and play all this at the same time. But how did they align the mics for the replacement drum? - they didn't have to because they prepared for this situation. The snare drum was right there - instant.

    Technicians are most of the time left in the shadows, but we see here that Danny and his tech are part of the same team. Kudos to that tech, he's one of many that makes live concerts go smoothly.

    This reminds me of the time I was playing a gig and my snare stand broke in half, snare drum fell to the ground, and my buddy who was standing off to the side noticed and sat underneath me and held my snare drum for the rest of the song. Dude was a legend and I'll never forget it lol.

      I had some friends playing a gig and they didn't have a carpet under the drum kit. The bass drum basically kept moving forward with every kick and I jumped on stage and held the kick until the song finished lol

      @@BreadandFaxes And you're a legend because of that. I've seen some people McGyver a rope that ties the kick drum to the legs of their seat to keep it from sliding, it can work when a carpet is unavailable lol.

      Probably a “can you believe that happened?” in regards to the snare breaking. It’s actually kinda rare, especially with a tech who is maintaining the drums/heads consistently.

    This guy seems to smile all the time. You find the nicest videos of him playing in schools, at a baseball game, on a wedding or so, spontaneously.
    Awesome, as if changing the snare isn’t a major problem during a song. Cool dude

    I'm blown away by every aspect of this, from the length of the video to the smoothness everything was carried out by both Danny and the tech. Even the smile he gave to the tech with a little "oh well" shrug at the end while never....missing...a BEAT. I've done live performances before(nothing this big or with techs to back me up, but still), and that was absolutely seamless.

      @@jwlsiee he actually is one of the best, ever. And i listen to jazz, prog death metal, djent and all the bullshit with sickest drummers in the game, dc’s drumming is just special and you can’t deny it. Nobody comes close. He’s a true percussionist, not just a drummer.

    I love the smile. You'll see most musicians get thrown off and angry when their instrument fails during a performance (understandably so), but Danny just takes it in his stride and thinks it's a giggle.

    This is from the Buffalo,NY show. I was in the mid-upper section and watched it in real time. I was worried they wouldn’t replace it before the ‘flam’ part. It was like watching someone walk a tightrope.
    Amazing musician.

      A true “quit your bullshit moment” here. This show was from Missouri. Danny is wearing his Kansas City jersey when he always plays in Kansas City or Missouri. Smh. He does this wherever he plays

    That's a good tech, doesn't interfere with the show, doesn't make life hard for the performer, just does his job in replacing a broken snare quickly and out of sight. The audience wouldn't even have noticed from the front.

      Drum techs ALWAYS have a spare snare drum, maybe a couple spare, because, as you can see, snares have alot of elements on them that can go wrong

    Get it Drum Tech! That's why he is with Tool. Also, not the first time this has happened, I do audio for bands on this level and I can't think of one that keeps a back-up snare less than 10 feet from the kit at all times. Again, great drum tech.
