Whether its him or someone else that brings us a trophy, his work in the last few years will be admired for sorting our messy national team out. We've always had amazing players and now we are starting to get a good culture.
Even if you don't respect the man, at least respect the job he has done. Taking us from out of the group at WC2014 and losing to Iceland at Euro 2016 to a World Cup semi-final and a Euro Final, Gareth Southgate has done magnificently. Hope he sticks around for at least one more crack at the Euros.
I have no idea why Southgate receives so much hatred. He is literally our second most successful manager ever. We used to dream of reaching semi-finals and finals, and in two shots, he has done it twice. Furthermore, in 2018 our team was not even good, and, our current squad, whilst very promising, is still young, and still nowhere near the quality we had 15 years ago... a team that achieved much less. I wish fans would realise what we have. Because if we go back to dark times after Southgate then fans will wish they had supported him more. We have it much, much better under Southgate than every other manager since 1966.
Because he's shown he has a single theory of how games should be won and no plan B, great man but questionable managing tactics. We had an easier route past few tournaments there's no denying it. Still backing Southgate but I do understand people's frustrations as well. Hoping for the best this tournament, come on England.
Easy brackets and generally boring football. He has brought the players together though, maybe that would have happened anyway after the toxic 'golden generaion' but I think he's definitely helped.
What makes Southgate so good in this role is that he gets the environment this generation of players need from our national side. They honestly all look like they enjoy being together on England duty, a total pivot from the WAG-strewn, kliqs in the dressing room Golden Generation.
@@BasedinReality1984 Two semi-finals and a final unequivocally makes him the most successful in the last 50 years. No other England manager has done that.
