First Cody couldn’t use “Cody Rhodes” for the majority of his Indy and AEW run because of WWE, now his “American Nightmare” nickname and branding is under attack. Now he’s got another story to finish! I’m sure all parties will settle. He’s too important to wwe to let this linger.
The American Lawsuit Cody Rhodes.
Finish the lawsuit Cody!
American Crook Cody Rude! Stealing Trademarks! Wow!!!
Finish the lawsuit 😂
I hope he loses
If somehow this goes to court and the WWE is forced to change the design, we need an update titled "WWE & Cody Rhodes get the pants sued off them".
Generic terms like American Nightmare should not be allowed to be copyrighted in the first place
Totally agree. It makes no fucking sense to trademark a generic term
I'd at least get it as a specific band name trademark so you can't have another band going around calling themselves American Nightmare, but being able to trademark something like that for "entertainment services" seems absurdly broad.
@@SsnakeBite Very much this.
@SsnakeBite or just be more judicious with what you sign.
Copyright sucks until the 1% start using it to push independants out of the market.
American Dream may be a generic term but I’m not sure American Nightmare would qualify
Courtaholic Wrestling‼️ Sue us🗣️‼️
Nice.
First AEW, now WWE... right, get your lawyers ready TNA!
TNA already got their lawyers working on the Rich Swann controversy.
Dude was waiting and checking the wwe shop every day trying to find something.
Some bloody copyright agreements are ridiculous.
Adam trying and failing to look serious while Andrew describes a pair of Cody Rhodes underpants is exactly what I needed this morning.
Didn't Dustin Own American Nightmare before Cody?
He was the American dream
@@Sky_Blaze there was an interview w Dustin where it shows footage of him calling himself the American Nightmare. Cody asked if he could use it and in Dustin's words he said "Yea sure run with it. We signed some paperwork and that was it"
guess Cody now in WWE makes it a big enough target to be worth the lawyer fees
WWE: Bryan do you want to come back to us?
Bryan: only thing that I can say in answer is "no" because you prohibited me to pronounce the other word
Yeah that American Nightmare lawsuit is going nowhere
Wes successfully sued Fall Out Boy for stealing his lyrics. It’s not, “going nowhere”.
These lawsuits are rated E for everyone. So EVERYONE is gonna catch these lawsuits apparently.
danielson just needs to start the yep movement so the crowd chant yep or nope instead of yes or no
I'm curious how Netflix can really cover the Vince McMahon/Janel Grant case considering it's ongoing? Like I get that you obviously can't stop reports being made on it but if Vince himself is directly discussing the events then that could be suicidal for his case. There's a reason why whenever something is subject to a legal investigation/process that lawyers tell their clients to keep schtum but then again... there's a reason why Vince is Vince. Probably why it's called "Mr. McMahon" so if he incriminates himself they can say it's "just a character"...
Adam popping for "through the cracks" made me like this video
The American Nightmare By Cody Rhodes lawsuit has to be win in court.
Adrenaline in my soul, getting sued - not in control, gonna give the court what they came to see
This was a very legal-filled news update
lol learn the law man
Swann has a history of this sadly its clearly never gonna change 💀
THE PANTS!
If I was Cody and WWE I'd tell that band to get lost. Clearly trademark trolls. Dustin Rhodes was using the American Nightmare name before that band was even formed. Cody made a mistake paying them to licence the trademark in the first place.
The band was formed in 1998
That's real big brain thinking there, bud.
Someone already owned the TM, they already have a legally binding agreement which they settled to ALLOW Rhodes to use a TM they already owned, and they violated the terms of their settlement.
That isn't TM trolling, that is legally defending your property. You sound like you're licking corporate boots.
Good Lord, I really hope you never get in legal trouble. You are ffffwucked.
@@SammyNail And Dustin was using The American Nightmare name in WCW in the early 90s
@@JJ-gr9yz What? Are you slow? I said Dustin Rhodes used the name before the band formed. And nobody knows who this band are so who would confuse Cody Rhodes merch with this no name band? Nothing to do with licking corporations asses. I'd say the same if it was some small business or band that had the same name before Cody Rhodes did. I just don't like patent and trademark trolls. You could make the case that the band was aware that Dustin Rhodes used the name and took advantage of WCW not trademarking the name knowing that WCW or WWE would try and licence the trademark. So yes, I believe they're trademark trolls.
Love the Wallace and Gromit shirt
The American Nightmare stuff probably wouldn't be an issue if everything Fanatics beyond a tshirt wasn't just the same templates n shit
WWE telling Bryan not to do yes chants is the most WWE thing ever. Oh we’ll take Jade Cargill, give her the same music, the same ring gear, the same everything, she’s literally just been taken from one company and put in another. But you Bryan, you want to say “yes”? In ANOTHER company ? Ooooh no no, no no no. You must respect our property Bryan, y’know, we own the motion of raising two pointer fingers and saying yes.
Tbf, he didn’t ever try to get it into his contract like Jade did
Doesn't WWE have a trademark or copyright on it? If I'm remembering correctly, it's a legal issue, not something WWE can ignore without opening a Pandora's box
I'd throw Cody in a similar light as well.
It is such a basic catchphrase too. Like who cares if someone uses it? It's a 3 letter English word.
Holy shit. Wes of American Nightmare is saying WWE. What world am I in?!?
🎶ADRENALINE, IN MY SOUL, I AM SUING CODY RHODES! WHOOOOAAAAOOOOOOHHHHH🎶 🤓
Doesn't scan properly. It would if you used "I am" instead though
"Gonna be suing Cody Rhodes"
@@franklingoodwin You're right.
Listened a few of their songs after seeing this headline only to realize it's not my kind of genre lol. Between this and the news about the Yes letter it makes me wonder if Danielson ever got into a situation with Disney and the trademark American Dragon at any point
Why September 25th? Cause of Grand Slam?🧐🤔
Irony. For years American Nightmare had to be called Give Up The Ghost Because another band sued them.
Wellllll considering only one of them is well know…
Good luck with that lawsuit. Grasping for clout.
Love that he waited for Cody to get huge in WWE to do this…
This will be thrown out. Rob Zombie wrote American Nightmare for Howard Stern's Private Parts. He can't defend the trademark the way it is written because a property by that name already existed.
Litigation Season is upon us.
The guy who is suing Rhodes was X arguing with fans who were making fun of him....he is a uh very sensitive over everything it seems.
For the second time now it’s Altamonte Springs with a T
Wonder if they are going to talk about Owen’s death in the documentary
A butt ton of wrestling legal news, and none on Logan Paul? Color me shocked!
What did Homelander do this time
Rich Swann is a problem... he was my favourite in the cruiserweight days, he just keeps disappointing
5:31 Bryan needs to understand he left WWE so whatever he created there he left too
Seriously? THAT'S the picture you choose for the Rich Swan story? Jesus Christ guys.
Time for a wrestler to start up a lawyer gimmick , preferably in AEW where he can Serve Swerve.
So a punk rock brand from the 90s can stop Cody calling himself that? How very punk rock of them....
So are Punk & Rock, future rivalries for Cody ? 😂jk
Are you sure the band name isn’t Foo Fighters?😂
@@jasonoyola590 Long term storytelling!
Right that's awfully establishment especially for a so called modern hard-core punk corner stone 😂
He'll have to change it to "The American Bad Dream..."
They could work around it somehow e.g. The American Knightmare.
@@Jamieb1994 The American Nightmeyer
The US Fear
It would not surprise me if they said very little about the legal thing with Vince. It is on going so it might not be smart to bring it up any more than what people have said already. Idk though.
always weird when someone trademarks a phrase that probably been used before they were more. Sure someone made the joke "American dream more like an Amercian NIGHTMARE...am I right" before the 90's
Dustin Rhodes is the first American Nightmare, get your facts right BAND!
The "yes" chants aren't even WWE's or Danielson's, they were started by Diego Sanchez
I wonder if Transformers ever sued Underarmor and other companies for the copyright “Beast Mode” ?
FYI Beast Wars is the best 90s show.
honestly American Nightmare should get that fuckin dough. wwe is a multi billion dollar corporation it will be fine. especially if wwe is gonna claim Danielson is infringing on some copyright for using HIS FUCKING CHANT!
Finish the Lawsuit
That lawsuit is pants.
Hopefully Cody has to go back to Stardust
Viva Love.
I hope Wes gets all the money he can.
With all of this legal stuff going on I'm thinking of hiring stephan p new to start a class action lawsuit on behalf of all the cultaholic podcast fans. It will focus on the pain and distress Jack King has put on us all for refusing visit an Italian restaurant with a laptop. The pain is unbearable 😂
normal a generic term like yes on its own cant be trademarked, there is a few times generic terms have been accepted but could void in court. but I am guessing , and I could be very wrong, yes yes yes might be unique enough to enforce
They should retitle the Doc "Vince McMhanon" Not "Mr Mcmahon" Using "Mr" will only confuse people into believing it was just a Charecter.
Possibly deliberate. If he's on there discussing the case and says a bunch of stuff that's incriminating as hell then the lawyers can be like "It's just a character, guys..."
maybe to intense WWE fans, a casual clicker probably won't know that backstage line between personas being named that way. but I think their target is a bit broader than the people that are probably most likely to have already heard all the details.
I'm so jealous of that Wrong Trousers shirt
Wwe with the intro will show the band is correct. Just watch his intro american nightmare is bigger than anything else
8:42 = Who's David Shoemaker???
Can't wait until they have to change *The American Nightmare* to *The American Entertainment,* and the *Get the "N" Out* campaign.
IYKYK
Can't be ripping off those pandas
Now it's a legal matter, baby
You got me on the run
It's a legal matter baby
A legal matter from now on....
Thanks 🎉
It was all good when he was in every other company. Now that he’s in WWE, you need a lot of money. This isn’t gonna work out for them, lol
I'm loving all the trademark attorneys in the comments giving idiotic legal advice to Cody.
Just change it to The All American nightmare
Is Rita going to be interviewed in it? His first R victim.
I think it'll be like the "Yeet" situation. Settled out of court.
Absolutely. Especially if Cody/WWE has breached the terms of the arrangement. The band will take the easy payday rather than drag it out in court.
think this lawsuit will be brief........
Who's buying them pants?
Why didn't this band go after AEW when they made Cody the American Nightmare?
So essentially he ran out of money and wants more?
They breached the agreed upon terms of the licensing so they got all rights to it
@@acciow4998Allegedly
@@acciow4998nah, it’s a money job. They accepted 30k but now want 10x that? Lmao, nobody is crying over underpants where there are only a small percentage of people who will see them unless they’re trying to get a bag
In all reality the supposed breach didn't start in 2024. It's been 5 years and you already have received a legal and agreed upon payment. He's more than likely gonna lose.
CROOKED CODY RUDE
Finally a wrestling lawsuit that isn't frivolous bullshit.
Sounds pretty frivilous. Cody may have agreed to specific terms, but a judge might find that Wesley whatshisface is far reaching on something that's pretty ubiquitous as the opposte of American Dream. He sounds like a trademark troll in all honesty though.
@@revadarius2594pretty sure op was being sarcastic.
the name trademark from a different entertainment genre and a "yes" legal letter is less frivolous than a SA lawsuit?
I don't want to live on this planet anymore
@@nivision to be clear I just meant over this week as a bunch of frivolous shit came out (Tate twins, guy suing Danielson)
The Janel Grant case absolutely is serious.
@@parsath_2584 aaah. didn't know about those, I'm spotty in my news keep up
Who on earth is buying pants with ‘claim your kingdom’ arched around their meat and potatoes?
These 'trademarks' (😂😂) are total bull... oh boo hoo I called myself american nightmare and noone is allowed to do that 😭😭....🤣🤣🤣🤣
"You can take my dreams but not my nickname"
Can the band Yes sue WWE 😂
Those are not pants
Imagine thinking you can successfully sue the wwe 😂
Worldwide fund moment
American Nightmare are not just a “band” they are a cornerstone of modern hardcore punk. They aren’t a small deal.
Last time I saw Wes perform was at Wembley Arena so it’s not like it’s a small deal.
Should of let Sam handle this one as he is the only one with a decent music taste (bar tom)
Great band, but only a big deal to a small (but passionate) group of people, I'm afraid.
Can't expect mainstream normies to care!
@@GMRay739 Well AM or their Lawyers are sure petty enough to sue. At this point someone will make a band called "BREATHE" and sue everyone who is breathing cause it violates their trademark.
Okay , we know you guys just included the first story so you could say pants multiple times, shame on you both.
And regarding the Bryan thing...as much as I'm a WWE guy, this does annoy me about WWE. Just let him have the trademark for crying out loud, it was a key part of his gimmick and career. I mean, it not like you look petty for keeping it when you're making record profits from LITERALLY everything else...oh wait, you do!
No shade to anyone, but who is buying thier pants from WWE?
Have you ever been to a wrestling show? It makes me sad to be a fan.
This sue person really gets around in wrestling.
Some people are soo damn pathetic and greedy and selfish. Sueing him cuz he wants money. F that guy. Who cares what he says. What right does he have to control Cody’s gimmick? Wtf?
Wwf raw this week will feature Codey giving an apology to that band? Jim cornet reported
I think Cody should...
CALL STEPHEN P NEEEWWWW!
no one really knows me not fucking wrong vinny boy
Vince trailer coming out within days of the Trump trailer, birds of a feather.
300k? That’s like a dollar bill to wwe 😂😂😂
no its still 300k dollar bills
Cody Rhodes will find his Roots and become the African Nightmare just like the One Man Gang found himself as Akeem The African Dream
nop his name is THE american nightmare ez
NOT THE PANTS! BY GAHD!
Holy moly
FINISH THE LAWSUIT!
Sounds like someone a going broke or career isn't doing what they thought with that law suit.
Trailer to documentary was fire, can't wait for it.
Adrenaline in my soul, someone’s suing Cody Rhodes
The documentary isn’t going to be interesting; it’s just going to be several hours of kissing Vince’s ass. He never would have participated otherwise.
Just say "the" American Nightmare, boom, fixed.
