- As you already know, I have the Street Triple RS and now I finally got the chance to ride and review the 2020 Triumph Speed Triple RS. Although the bike doesn't act, feel or handle that much different than the Street Triple, it does have better power and a few perks like Cruise Control. Street Triple 👍
I mean the stickers are all new. One of the reasons I just bought a '20 over a '19 That generation has also been around for four full years now, so I can't see how it lost 7lbs over 2019. Also, you think it has 84lbs worth of fluids? come on now. It's 430 wet at best. I'm only 1:24 into this review and this is where I'm grousing already. hopefully it gets better.
@@daniellekoran7906 Read the comments, owner responded with true wet weight. My comment was simply a guess.. I did mention that.
@@daniellekoran7906 You never know what a manufacturer considers for dry weight. Triumph lists the 765 Street Triple at 366# dry. That bike is around 417# or so wet. So besides gas and other fluids, what is being counted and what isn't?
The extra weight on the Speed Triple really helps keep it planted when it’s windy. The power differential between Speed Triple and the Street Triple is very obvious (painfully obvious when you try to switch back to the Street Triple). The back handles well and sounds great. The cruise control is next level luxury/fun and you will find yourself riding hands-free while pretending you’re flying fairly frequently LOL.
However, because of the high power and torque the quick shifter is not very smooth in first, second, and third gear but you will learn the proper rpm range to make it smooth after some practice (the higher the RPMs, the smoother the shift). The bike has terrible wind protection and really needs the aftermarket wind screen to make it tolerable for longer rides. The seat is definitely a bit stiff and needs to be broken in, but should have been made more cushy. There’s a big cord that sometimes obstructs the Tft screen, but the screen’s position is adjustable.
Any more questions, just ask: I’ve owned the 2020 Speed Triple RS for a year now and my buddy has owned the 2018 Street Triple RS for two years now.
Thank you! Why did you sale it ? You don’t own one now right ? Besides that what are the yearly maintenance costs ? I want one but I’m a bit hesitant beautiful bike hehehe
@@Champion2Manager I didn’t sell it, I still own it. The yearly maintenance costs are pretty cheap and basic: oil changes every 3,000-5,000 miles, chain lubes (ideally every 1,000 miles) 600 mile break-in service, and then 9,000 mile valve adjustment.
How’s the seating position? Are you sitting straight up or leaning a little?
@@pauly1k The seating position is pretty much fully upright. The legs are a teency bit scrunched.
Great video fantastic bike I have a triumph speed triple rs and the answer to your question is the heated grips are a extra but love the triumph street triple rs hoping to take a demo out next year stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
I would say the Speed Triple is a good street bike but a Street Triple is good for street and track. You would enjoy the nimbleness of the Striple in the twisties or the track. More to come!
@@PetroHead thanks 🇬🇧👍🏻
Love my 2019 Street Triple RS in Crystal White with a bigger font dash. Lol, Perfect bike for SOCAL BTW, you're styling on your RS Brother!
Its feels a bit heavier and bigger then Street triple rs🤘🔥motor are raw and grunty🤙and look better then Ducati Streetfighter
Definitely better looking than SF!
If this speed triple were available in my country I would buy it over the ST3. That ohlins setup as well as the engine is just totally worth the weight upsize
Weighed it and is 470 Lbs, with full tank.
5 Lbs lighter than the BMW F 900 R as 1 example.
2019 Yamaha MT 10 was 468 Lbs.
I almost feel bad for saying it weights 500 now.. No wonder it felt light (not as light as Striple) and flickable. Triumph did a great job! MT10 feels a lot heavier.. surprised!
A BEAUTIFUL BIKE TRIUMPH YOU KNOCKED A HOMERUN!
I also own a 2020 speedtriple RS of the same color, it's a good motorcycle!
My man got a hold of a Speed Triple! 👍🏻 Thanks
I take requests very seriously! 😁👍
Good stuff. I’m looking into a next step bike after Ninja 650. I would love to try a street triple r one day.
I’m in the same place with a 2017 Ninja 650. Love the bike, just looking for something a little more refined eventually. My wish list is: bigger gas tank, all LED lights, factory heated grips.
Weren’t these changes made to the 2018 model? I thought there was a new Speed Triple for 2021?
Correct, I have an MY19 as my spirited commute and love its character. The highly anticipated 21 Speed should be announced soon!!
@@davidebbs2797 I sure hope so! I've been refreshing motorcycle news pages since I fist heard about the redesigned Speed Triple RS in August :D I just wish they will release it in the spring (it they even actually release it in 2021) because due to certain reasons I already spent the last summer without a bike and simply cannot wait that long, I want a bike as soon as the snow melts :D
Hello really compliments for your complete analysis. Can I ask you a comparison between speed triple 1050 rs and Ktm duke 890 R? i tested the Triumph and is really fantastic, an incredible sound, very good quality, good style. But probably Ktm is lighter, i hope to test also duke 890.
You can check the street triple vs 890 on the channel.. speed is just a little faster.
Does the triumph 1050rs come standard with heated grips or not? about to pull the trigger. And does the 1050 rs come standard with slipper AND blipper clutch?
I'd hold out for the 1160cc speed triple for 2021. Bought the 2020 street myself. Don't think the extra money for the current speed is worth it.
I like everything about mine but the suspension is too stiff and wants to stand up all the time on bumpy Roads. Come spring I'm taking a trip to KAIS to get it sorted for deep joy in summer!
I bought a 2020 on Tuesday. Love the bike but my display layout looks different than the one in this video. I haven’t played around with the different menu functions yet so I assume the display can be changed to different looks.
hey boys i just got a 2020 Speed S... going to pick it up on saturday. I moved up from a 2018 street RS, anything i should know beforehand? im hoping the weight isnt that much of a difference. ive ridden my cousins s1000r which is similar in weight and that was fine so i figure itll be negligible at best. really lookin forward to the extra ooomph when twisting that throttle....
cheers and safe riding boys!!!
Tell me more about this six-access initial unit
Where are you riding ?
Those roads are rooted!
Hey PetroHead, just came across this video. Take the screen display over my Street Triple RS any day.
Agree.
It needs sliders! The mirrors break off of you drop it. I’ve bought 3 mirrors now 😅.
You could stop dropping it mate 😂
I haven't dropped a bike in 40 years. What's the problem?
@@rleon8339 cousin dropped it in the driveway moving it, buddy took the liberty of unhooking it from the trailer without putting kickstand down, and I straight up dropped it while loading it in my pickup.
@@ingersom1 jesus fuck like an episode of the 3 stooges
@@ingersom1 one of the reasons you don't let anyone even sit on your bike
# Very useful, sensible and helpful review. , drive daily to work in the city and also the highway( Commuting) and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational, Is this bike good enough and usually commuting friendly? so, which one? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike & sport tour bike so what is your opinion? Speed or Street triple? it worth it? is €4000 more expensive?? or use Speed a new Street.....
Any way great video
Be safe & enjoy it
For the type of riding style you do, I say Street RS.
@@PetroHead first of all thank you for your quick response, actually I was not expecting so, I will be doing a test drive soon, Thx again
God review😎
And how’s the power feel to the street triple?
More power obviously...
@@PetroHead I have been told the power feels very similar due to the power to weight difference
There is a 55lbs difference but nonetheless it feels like more power.. just not a lot.
@@Brookmanrider As you likely know, the real feeling of power comes from torque. The Speed RS has WAY more torque + at much lower revs.
The Street RS only has 58 ft/lbs @ 9,350 RPM...the Speed RS has 86 ft/lbs @ only 7,150...that's 48% more torque, at 24% lower revs.
And the Speed RS' 463lb wet weight is only 11% (46lbs) more than the Street RS' 417lb wet weight. Dunno where PetroHead gets 55lbs from.
So, you'd certainly notice 48% more torque - at 24% lower revs - from a bike that only weighs 11% more than the Street RS.
Owner weighed and confirmed it.
Great work mate good video. Love the channel I’m doing the same and looking at getting this bike. I have subscribed 👌🇦🇺🙏
Thank you!
it's a lot less than 500lbs wet
Yep.. I was just assuming.. but owner confirmed 470 wet weight.
2021 speedtriple where is it ?
Not out yet.
2020 version completely revamped, really? The 2021 model will be completely revamped to meet Euro 5 - Even rumoured to be getting rid of the under seat exhausts.
The 2020 model has basically had some lipstick added to clear stock.
Love the review! I want to test ride one so bad!
Whats a pound?
16 ounces
No replacement for displacement , just saying ! oh and it's true .
And I thought the roads in Ireland were bad 🙈
Move your mirrors down 90 degrees.
Sport mode its more fun🤙
I created my own rider mode that’s great for wheelies! But if I want to behave sport mode it is!
Nice review. I love my Speed Triple 1050 S, I've also just fitted a pair of SP Engineering End Cans which sound awesome, check out my video if you're interested! Those Arrows sound sweet though!
I came so close to buying one of these. But got the KTM Superduke instead.
100% different bikes. Enjoy it though 👍
Where are you?
Can you be specific?
bro not the full BEANS
What horrible fucking roads and choking traffic you have in SoCal, Yuk.
Street Triple is a better bike than this anyways
Anyways is not a word.
@@rleon8339 I bet he’s funner than you though.
Totally agree, the Street triple is a bloody *missile* round the twisties compared to the Speed. Wish I'd never traded mine in to get a Speed triple 😭
