Haven't uploaded in a little bit. Just downloaded Resolve Fusion 19 beta and started playing around with the uVolume tool and thought I would share a few ways of using the tool. Pretty excited to see the USD tools being expanded in Fusion.

You're welcome! Once the USD system is fully integrated with true shadow passes it's going to be awesome!

thats pretty cool adjust and reuse vdbs instead of being stuck with whatever camera movement you originally went with, basically not have to go back into houdini to place the same portal in a new scene

Agreed, being able to reuse assets is great.

How do we open a bunch of VDB files in the first place in Davinci Resolve however?

Add a uVolume node, than click browse to add the VDB files into the uVolume.

@@prophetless thank you very much. Maybe you can help me one step more... I am trying to combine the uVolume VDB scene with a 3D scene involving the CameraTracker. I want the uvolume to also be tracked with the CameraTracker. Any clue how to do this or if this is possible? Or even a good way to combine uVolume and 3D? Best I can come up with is using an Imageplane3d node for the uvolumeRender and inserting it back into the Merge3D, this is suboptimal obviously though.

And I partially figured it out, applying the camera3D with the tracker data to the uMerge. However the uVolume is very large in scale, and when scaling this down it affects and diminished the level of details greatly (At least for fire). So currently this does not seem like a solution...

At this point I am just annoying. But i kind of was able to fix the issue with scaling. However when I apply the camera3D with the tracker data to the uMerge, the screen that should display the video is greyed out and I cannot figure out why. Other than it is not meant for that. Is anyone else trying this stuff?

Try transferring over the 3d camera data to the uCamera and use that for the render. The usd system is getting there but it still needs a lot of love.
