I am getting a bit sick of these guitar companies who are knocking out sig guitars and charging stupid money! Yes, unless its a MIM sig, this is going to be super expensive! Epiphone charging near 2000 for a sig, made in China, is a disgrace! Time these companies started calming themselves down! They made a LOT fo money over Covid, how about giving something back to us poor musicians?!?!?!
I don't mind tge price of the mexican, you're paying the same for an American pro 2 with a nitro finish and a relic and custom pickups, the joe bonomassa was a joke, you don't even get amerixan pickups
I think it will be like the Mike Mcready strat. Over a grand but mexican made and it will sell out so fast, they’ll go for double on ebay. I think the sunburst american vintage 2 61’ strat is constantly out of stock as it’s the closest thing to a JF signature
Epiphone was never meant to be a budget brand in the first place and they weren't until Norlin ruined them when they took over Gibson..2019 that ended with JC Curliegh he restored epiphone back to where they should have always been..go look at Meat Malloy page and listen what he says about his 2021 and 2019 epiphones..and it's Les Paul and Epiphone where the actual solid body guitar was born it wasn't Gibson.. Gibson didn't get involved until years later
Best signature series was J Mascis Squire Jazzmaster: Affordable, player grade, beautiful guitar Wish john could do somethign like that but doubt fender would allow it
SRV's idea and agreement with Fender was to make his Signature affordable, and well, i bougth one so i know how much Fender went against that idea. In Australia its RRP$3,800 - i bought mine second hand for half that luckily...only one id ever seen come up for second hand sale here ever. For good reason, theyre great playing guitars.
Yeah I 100% agree with you. It’s going to be ridiculously priced and even more so on the used market. I’d love to get my hands on one though. I have no doubt it’ll sell out so fast. I’ve been trying to get a Sunburst ‘61 AVii for a while and they’re always sold out. I think that’s because it’s the closest thing to a JF signature on the market at the minute
Dude......... I want his signature Jaguar!!!! I'll swap in my 2 year old silverburst ultra and lose money for that thing with no regrets. No regrets also cause I hate the Floyd rose. So it may be on reverb soon.
I am a huge Frusciante fan, he got me playing guitar and shaped most of my skills. After some 20 odd years of playing the guitar, I ended up getting a Gibson Les Paul Jr and I have no interest in playing anything else. I really hope every Frusciante fan out there finds their own sound, finds their own way. A thousand pounds gets you a looooong way buying a very very nice guitar. If that is a 62 ri sunburst Strat, great! Just hope no one will get a JF signature guitar because they feel they 'have to'
Mike McCready is my guy. As soon as I got the notification from the TEN club that Mikes signature Strat was released in a limited quantity for the first run, I really didn’t care how much it was gonna be. I found one, was very surprised how expensive it is but bought it immediately anyway. I sold some guitars I wasn’t playing anymore and that was that. The guitar is absolutely amazing. It’s not just another Mexican made Strat. Case is awesome, pickups are awesome, feel and reliving is awesome. It’s just awesome. Do yourself a favor and buy John signature model When it comes out. Sell 1 or 2 guitars that you don’t NEED. You NEED John’s signature. I have not regretted for 1 second.
I totally did that too, well not immediately, my made in Mexico MMcC strat arrived today. Other guitars sold. It so nice I can’t believe it’s mine! I’m completely in love.
I'm honestly surprised that it's taken this long for him to get a signature guitar, I'd have thought that Fender would have made him one but if it is legit happening then that's definitely cool because he's a killer player and that '62 is a classic as well
Reddit gossip time. I heard that he quit the Chili Peppers last time because he had an awful alimony deal with his ex wife and he refused to tour if it meant giving her a huge percentage of his earnings. So he just sat at home making experimental music and making no money to spite her. Then he rejoined the band when his alimony term expired. I’ve been expecting a signature Strat because he wants to recoup some of his lost earnings from the alimony years.
@@trentc7329 quick google and reddit search tells me they only married in 2011, way after JF quit the band, and they settled eventually in 2015 for a one time 1.6m payment
It will most likely be a Mexican Roadworn like McCready's because I am sure John only did this with the agreement that it be attainable to his majority of fan base! I have a Fender Vintera Roadworn 60s strat with nitro and I have to say that the relicing they do is on par with the Custom Shop and I am not alone in saying this! I bet it will be a great guitar.
Man I'm with you. I'm a huge John fan, playin' guitar and listen him everyday. And I'm thorn inside... The tickets for the show are expensive.... but we are talking about a John's replica.... Man I'm sure it will be out of my range... It's bitter-sweet. The thing I'm waiting sice I started playin' guitar... and I will not be able to purchase it for a very long time. I'm happy for the people who also are waiting for this replica and will be able to buy it... anyway we're all very lucky to have him in the earth and in the band. Stay safe and healthy!
I love the connections you have with your guitars. For example, watching the series on your version of the Greeny guitar is true and meaningful. What bond would you have with a replica? You could always review the guitar? I’m sure it will sound pretty similar to the Fruscianti you have developed already? OR if it is your grail guitar… just go all in and buy it 🤷♂️
Not related to this video.. Will you be doing anymore videos on Tonerider pickups? Or shoot outs with them. Would love to hear your thoughts on there other single coils. Love all you videos by the way, follow all your content!🙌🏾
Dave all is not lost , i was lucky enough to visit a very intresting guitar /amp and vintage motorcyles...we started too discuss the term " laquer checking" in the motorcycle world its known as crap old laquer...discuss .xxx
If fender does the JF signature strat even though I never gonna be able the buy it would be really cool to see. I just want to see John Frusciante related stuff everywhere in my life lol.
I was so excited at first and the first leaks that showed up were johns guitar tech picked up a few strat boxes at a backdoor and things like that... Made it very interesting, but then when the Mike McCready signature came out I felt more like "maybe John passed on the deal because of whatever reasons.. and fender made a deal with McCready now?" So how ever it turns out I'm excited if it happens but will be afraid of the price tag as well.
If it does come and it is a MIM guitar Ala Mcready recent sig - it will be £1499 minimum and it will sell all day. Look at the Epiphone Greeny just now..... That is SO flagrantly overpriced at £1499 and is currently almost sold out despite coming out 4 days ago haha.
I sanded the regular non-nitro paint with sandpaper and I have a 2010 Relic Squier Bullet with crooked frets, but after sanding :P the profile picture shows
Really difficult one this. I think it needs to be a certain cost as to best represent the guitar that John has but has to be in a bracket where people can actual afford it. I bought a USA professional II a few years back and it's a great guitar but that was 1600 pounds at the time so I imagine a signature being more than that.
I agree with you Dave: first they will release a limited edition Master Built - Sell your Kidney -Frusciante strat, and then they are going to come out with the cheaper Mexican made version (like they did with the McCready Strat). I actually almost bought the McCready made in Mexico a few days ago (there was a used one for 1.4k on Reverb). I was very tempted but it was snatched by someone else. Needless to say, I don't think I am the only one who would really like to see a video of you reviewing the made in Mexico McCready Strat ....... that would be awesome!
I totally agree! It’ll be too expensive and R.H.C.P. are the band that inspired me to want to start making music being a fan since 1992. I’d love to have a Frusciante model guitar being that his music has meant so much to me, but like you said it’ll be unaffordable for myself, I’m glad John will be possibly be getting his own signature series! I respect all the knowledge you have, Dave, about so many artists’ guitars, thank you🤘🏼!
The production one will most likely not be a limited run. I’ll see how it looks and how the early adopters like it and then just wait for a sale if I feel like it’s worth it.
Dave, love your videos. I want to know your thoughts, if you have seen the GuitarWorld article half a year or so ago. They asked Henry about the photo of him with the six fender boxes from the factory. And he replied, that it wasn’t what we wanted (a sig guitar). I honestly don’t know what John would do. I don’t know what John would be up for. I guess time will tell. Keep up the Frusciante videos.
An MJT aged body, Fender neck, Duncan SLS-1 pickups, and now an Ilitch backplate - congrats, you've got a Frusciante signature for less than an AVII Strat.
I’m very fortunate to be in the position to where I’m going to college for music and am able to work in my spare time and don’t have to worry about bills, so if it’s fairly priced like even 1k I’d be able to afford it fortunately, just will only do it if it’s good value
NO to signature guitars full stop. Buy a guitar - whatever make model or year that you like, that you like to play and that you can afford... and then make it "your" guitar over time to come. Keep it for days, months or years or until you die, and then someone else can have it.
I'd love a John strat. But at the same time he's got his 62 and alot of playing time on it and I really don't see him hanging it up or retiring it unless he's replacing it with another real deal vintage old 62. I'd be fine just owning a real 62 or reissue with the nitro and playing everyday and making my own relic patterns on it. That's more satisfying for me. I love John and he's the reason i started playing as well like you Dave but I'm more of not buying a guitar with a John signature on it. He's not a sell out in my eyes and I'd be more satisfied playing my own one and developing its own relic with just playing it
On the one hand, I'd love to see John get a sig guitar, on the other, he hasn't modded his strat at all since it was made, so a John sig Strat would basically be a relic'd Vintera II Strat for 3X the price. I'd still be tempted though...
I think they will do more versions... either the way they did Jimmy Page Dragon tele + Mirror tele (MIM + AM) or the way they did George Harrison Rocky start. First they did highly limited run and they did more regular run. Also as you mentioned Gibson do couple versions of one signature model (Greeny, AJ silverburst etc.) so maybe Fender will do the same. That said, I think they will do one MIM for all of us and maybe more fancy AM model. Fender has decent pricing compare to Gibson xd. Oh and yes, I would love to own one.
Idk what everyone’s thoughts of the flea bass fender did that was a replica of fleas shell pink 60 j bass. I personally own it and it was such a great investment. I haven’t had the opportunity to play on a real 60s j bass but this is the best fender 4 string j bass I’ve played. The price point was 1000 usd at the time I got it. A lil much but the quality is there. It’s also mim which I remember was getting a lot of traction. I dropped that bass from about 3 feet neck first and it tanked the fall. I’d be willing to pay 1200 - 1400 usd for a John strat.
If they are going to do it, I really hope they make this the nicest guitar money can buy. Not due to it being collectible, but that it’s still an American Strat (as closely replicated to a ‘60s), with John’s wear on point, including the scratches. It’s gonna be a few thousand, but it’s also going to be something to look up to. I’d be pretty disappointed if the guitar that represents my idol is going to be a budget, mid game guitar. The one that John’s been seen with looks pretty bad, that relic isn’t very pretty (probably due to the clean wood, and no scratches; the body has its original shape)
my opinion is pretty much the same as Dave's. I would love a frusciante fender replica, but the price tag really scares me, especially knowing damn right i live in south america and my country (Chile) adds a shit ton of taxes whenever you buy or import anything, despite having a Fender shop in Santiago (our capital) and a hosted website in our country we're still paying like 1550$ for a guitar that costs 900$
Be your self. You don't need John's guitar to be you. Nuno Bettencourt once got the play EVH's guitar and was shocked that he just sound like himself. Icons only became Icons because they are themselves.
What do you all want a good quality John frusciante strat to cost? The cost of materials and labor are not going to come down. Especially if you are getting a guitar made in california. Times are changing and the dollar isn’t worth what it was. Do you want a quality guitar or just John’s printed signature on a cheaply made strat? I’d pay more for quality made guitar rather than pay less and have a guitar that has a JF stamp on it that does not play well let alone inspire.
Yep the minute the Mike McCready came out I was expecting a John Frusciante especially due to all the comments asking for it. But for me I’d rather spend the money on an 82’-86’ RI with real wear that looks like a 60’s with real wear. Because it is.. there’s an 86’ that’s stunning on reverb with incredible wear. It’s beautiful but it’s also I think $3,800 but that’s a far cry from $30k or $40k and those reissues have amazing pickups black bobbins. Redbobbins or even greys. But sound amazing!” But that’s me. Also for $2k I can grab a 82’ Japan which are phenomenal. 63’ RI.
i really love tool and adam jones and when i heard he was getting a sig i wanted to get one, even the epiphone here in sydney is over $3000, the gibson standard is closer to $7000 if a john strat comes out i dont see it being less then $3300 (the mike McCready is anywhere from $3100-$3400) and lets face it, its just a strat with a relic job and there are a lot of builders out there who could do the same. if i was paying that money i would rather a oswald so i could custom make a few other specs so it felt how i wanted and just get a nice relic job
I for sure can't be able to afford one let alone can't afford a standard Fender. But I'm excited to see the specifications especially the neck shape. Then I'd probably build a partscaster going by the specs of JF signature guitar. Or just buy a japanese ST62 again and refin with nitro. :)
Couple things I can offer. First, I can understand the anguish and disappointing feeling when there's that piece of gear that you want SO BAD, but it's too expensive and hard to justify. A John Cruz 57 strat (blonde w/maple fretboard) was for sale on wildwood and quickly sold in 2017. It was so unique and to me was the perfect spec for a maple neck strat. Years go by and a few months ago it appeared on their website again! I swore to myself that I wasn't going to miss it this time. Since John Cruz isn't making Fender guitars anymore the price was high (it was on consignment and the seller was trying to make a few extra bucks). To me (that's the key) it was such a special guitar that I was willing to part with my Tone King Imperial, Gibson Custom Shop 59 LP, and some extra cash to buy the guitar. I did it, and every single time I open the case I am in awe and can't believe I get to hold it, play it, and enjoy it for the next 40+ years. I didn't have the same special feelings about the Les Paul or Tone King, and to me it was worth parting with some gear and saving up the money. Maybe part with some gear? On the other hand, you could make the argument that there are already plenty of sunburst Stratocasters in existence. You could wait and see what neck dimensions are of the new John Frusciante strat, and pickups, and see if you could modify one of your guitars in that way. It really depends what it's worth to you. It could be a really special fulfilling experience to have that guitar. Or maybe already having a real 62 strat could check all the boxes? Most valuable of all is the time you've put in to developing your playing. There are many people I see who try to replicate John's sound with expensive gear and it doesn't sound anywhere close to what you can do because you just can't buy guitar skill and the ability to hear what he's doing. I'm not sure if any of this helps, but whether you end up with a John strat or not, I hope you are at peace with however it turns out. You sound closer to him than anyone else I have heard :) Keep on rocking Dave!
why buy the Johnny Marrs editions? He didn't even record with those models you wouldn't think??? Unless he had money the whole time? He doesn't have signature amps.
I feel much like you Dave, I'd be excited and would love one if I thought it might be affordable... But I know it won't be, about 3 + years ago I got my dream guitar, which was a special run Gibson SG in my favourite colour which was the most expensive guitar I've ever owned and wouldn't have bought myself, but my wife saved and bought it for me and it was the most wonderful present .... That cost £1299 british pounds, its absolutely shocking to think that wouldn't even buy be a signature epiphone or MIM now !!
Conflicted. I lean towards "sell my house" for it, but only if it is an American made, a la Vintage II. Nothing against MiM, but I already have a 27 year old MiM that has my sweat and dents, thank you very much. An American Frusciante Signature in the $2500 US ballpark would definitely be compelling. Not at all a comfortable purchase, but I could still Ramen it up for a few months to get it. That said, I have never been into guitars with a relic job. I can't get past the instinct to want something that's two mortgage payments to be sparkly and new looking. On the other hand, Frusciante!
I think it’s going to be like the SRV in that it’s available forever in the Custom Shop and American version. But I think they will offer a Mexican version like the Mike McCready for a few years. I’d probably get a Mexican version. I don’t care if the relic’ing is not exact as long as the specs are right. I would not mind it if it were New Old Stock as long as it would wear naturally. Does anyone know if the McCready guitar finish will continue to wear, or is it oversprayed and frozen in that stage of wear? I’m really only interested in a Frusciante or McCready signature as a way to get an affordable mostly vintage spec’d nitro guitar that will age and plays great. I don’t care whose model it is.
The Mike McCready strat is $2760 in Canada, a John Frusciante strat would probably be more expensive! I already took my shot and bought the Epiphone 59 Les Paul two years ago when it was $1200, and is now selling at over $1300! I would love the JF strat, but couldn’t justify another “expensive” guitar, sadly. My next most dear guitar purchase was only $600. Anyway… 👍❤️🎸🎶✌️
Second comment as I got to the end of the video… I have a good friend who has one of those Gilmour NOS Strats, they even came with a specific set of fender amp cables, but again it’s never seen the light of day, sat in a case, under his bed
If John is getting a signature strat, I won't buy it, as I developed some kind of relationship with my own strat, which I own since 25 years. Even if I have so much love for John, he is he, and I am me. Just buying a signature guitar bringing his name won't let me be him, I"d rather be myself but inspired by him
I say love the gear you've got. I'm a huge Peter Green fan but I have no need for a Greeny replica, my Epi Les Paul 50s inspired by Gibson does the job just fine. Dave you have many great guitars and can't possibly play them all, play what you have and don't worry about an overpriced signature.
I am a huge JF fan, his guitaring has inspired me for as long as I can remember, no other guitarist gives me the same feeling that John does when he plays, my favourite ever guitar is his 62 Sunburst....but actually I have no interest in getting a signature version. The relic'ing on his 62 is the story of his guitar and his story with it, not excluding some wear before he got it. I dont want to just buy that, I could probably save and afford it, sell a couple guitars in the process but I'm just not interested. I want my guitars to have my story/wear on them, I care more about getting a tone similar to John's (thanks Dave for those old videos), so if he does release one I'd be interested in what the hardware and electrics are, I'd definitely get the pickups and fit them to my strat and perhaps the bridge and nut. My advice would be to try find your own sunburst strat but finished in nitro so it will wear, then just match the hardware as close to what he uses, way cheaper than buying one attached to his name. Anyway, thats just me, I dont mean anyone has to agree or do it my way thats just how I feel. Interestingly his 'replica' turning up in photo plays into your other theory for me...IE that he doesnt want to damage his own 62 taking it to a photoshoot. So yeah in summary, some signature pickups would be sweet!
If they really make a jf signatur model it also has to be really good. So I would hope for it to be in the 1500$ price range. Anything cheaper will come with a lot of compeomises.
i feel that at this point it’s better to invest in an actual 62’ strat rather than the replica yk like at this point theyre going to charge 1,000-2000+ dollars id just get a real 62’
Dave you should definately get that guitar!! I won't be able to afford one, but would love to see you use one and review it! maybe start a Go Fund Me so that you can make content with it....
I imagine for who John is they’ll do like Jeff Beck and release an ‘affordable’ one and a custom shop one…. I’ve played both back b2b and I massively preferred the cheaper one As a caveat I’d be in to crowd fund for Dave S to get one
Thank you so much for this insight! John Frusciante is the best guitar player I know. Period. I have listened to RHCP since their first recording. Then JF on Mothers milk!!! OMG!! And then "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" OMG x 1000! Thank you Dave for the insight.
i hate that its going to be ridiculously priced, but ive been wanting a name brand fender for a while now, i might have to break for a signature john strat
I feel the same way. Right now Fender is profiteering on the good name of their past, and not delivering for the money. I would take a G&L any day over a Fender. only reason I bought my Fender Strat is because I was told that was the only way to get a tone like Hendrix, otherwise I would have gotten a G&L Commanche
It's a difficult one. A price tag like the J Mascis Squier jazzmaster would be nice, but impossible, as you will need relic'ing and a nitro fin for a good JF 62 replica, so costs are going to be substantial. And most John fans might not have the boomerbudgets, so who would be able to buy it? Hopefully they'll keep the price 'reasonable'.
In my opinion this all thing of relic guitars is just a show business more than anything else . I love when someone gets a signature guitar , is like giving to someone a medal that they deserve and Jonh Frusciante really deserves. Now myself i wouldn't ever buy a custom/replic guitar , i don't see the appeal as i would prefer buy the guitar modeabd color l and let the time do his work along side with the playing . Saying this i completely respect everybody preferences and how they invest their money. I am sure that is not dificult to find a Fender Stratocaster 60's , MIM or USA , affordable , with same color and let it aging naturally , also change electronics if needed.
I have a sunburst American Vintage 62 strat that I bought 16 years ago for $1400 on Zzounds. I have worn it out a bit and it looks and sounds fantastic. Even still, I'd buy a John signature guitar in a heartbeat.
Sorry, I commented before I watched the video 😊 I hope they do what they did with Flea's pink shell bass. $1200 MIM, looks great, sounds great, and relatively affordable. If they make a high quality version and a cheaper one, I will be super bummed because of course I'll want the high quality one. I hope it's just an affordable one.
Hi Dave. Watched another great vid. I understand fans want repros related to their favourites. For me repro signature guitars are just for money making. For me the sound is the only thing that matters. Not worth the money especially as for me Fuscianti's is no great shakes. I am a Peter Green fan largely thanks to your vids. I don't see fuscianti is a mover and shaker nor an innovator but each to our own. Hope you get what you want
Hmmm not for a 12k pounds price. We can probably get a sunburst and have it relic’d for $100 and change pickups and electronics to sound like a 62 or similar to JF.
If they do a team built Custom Shop model for around £3,000 then I think that would be reasonable for a the nitro and relicing. Sadly, I suspect you're probably right, Dave and it'll be £10k plus.
The bigger question for me is when is Dave Simpson getting an affordable signature guitar?
I have thought this for a while
Never. You try to be kind. But never
Ohhhh heck yea! Extra vid. Love your work Dave it genuinely makes my dad better

OR if it is your grail guitar… just go all in and buy it 🤷♂️
Hello Dave! I would Love to See One. John does deserve it! WooF!
Let's wait n see mate
Love how real you are man
Bro! You are an awesome guitarist w/o one.😊
Hi dave. thanks for the video. do you perhaps have a lesson for fight for love?
I don’t. Sorry.
I want a Dave Simpson signature B.C. Rich Warlock in slime green sunburst!
Oh god yes.
i’m patiently waiting for the epiphone dave grohl signature as well. i’ve been hoping fender would do a frusciante signature for years now.
I think you need a signature Strat. Keep shining Dave.
Not related to this video.. Will you be doing anymore videos on Tonerider pickups? Or shoot outs with them. Would love to hear your thoughts on there other single coils. Love all you videos by the way, follow all your content!🙌🏾
Hopefully in the future yes.
Dave all is not lost , i was lucky enough to visit a very intresting guitar /amp and vintage motorcyles...we started too discuss the term " laquer checking" in the motorcycle world its known as crap old laquer...discuss .xxx
Shop of delights .dam these fingers
"Signature" versions are great IF there's a difference between them and the usual models. A bit or relicing doesn't count.
Great debate Dave👍
Better than what epiphone are asking for there signature models.
I sanded the regular non-nitro paint with sandpaper and I have a 2010 Relic Squier Bullet with crooked frets, but after sanding :P the profile picture shows
Of Course Eric Johnson got it In Custom Shop and a normal signature Strat, they'll probably do both.
Really difficult one this. I think it needs to be a certain cost as to best represent the guitar that John has but has to be in a bracket where people can actual afford it. I bought a USA professional II a few years back and it's a great guitar but that was 1600 pounds at the time so I imagine a signature being more than that.
Apart from the price point, I have another problem.. I wonder if they will ever do an upside down one 🤔
Dave, your John relicd guitar looks really good. These would sell. 😃
An MJT aged body, Fender neck, Duncan SLS-1 pickups, and now an Ilitch backplate - congrats, you've got a Frusciante signature for less than an AVII Strat.
We need a Dave signature!
I will buy you one Dave if the trio plays at my birthday party
Hey Dave.. I know it's offtopic, but what do you think of new Marshall Studio JTM?
I want one. :)
@@thedavesimpson ok that says enough :D
i love johns 62 strat in 1998.
I would hope that Fender will gift you one in good faith for all you have done for the JF and guitar community as a whole. Let's hope they produce it.
Fender don’t know who I am so I doubt that. :)
16:43 at that you might as well buy the Bonamassa Lazarus and have the neck pickup reverse wired than to buy the Greeny.
63’ RI.
i really love tool and adam jones and when i heard he was getting a sig i wanted to get one, even the epiphone here in sydney is over $3000, the gibson standard is closer to $7000
if a john strat comes out i dont see it being less then $3300 (the mike McCready is anywhere from $3100-$3400)
and lets face it, its just a strat with a relic job and there are a lot of builders out there who could do the same. if i was paying that money i would rather a oswald so i could custom make a few other specs so it felt how i wanted and just get a nice relic job
There is talk of him getting a PRS Silver sky relic as he hasn't been happy with Fender's offering.
We'll crowdfund the special one for you Dave 👍
Thats very lovely of you but please don’t. I couldn’t accept it. Thank you though for the thought. :)
The king of the blues 👍👍👍🌹⚘⚘❤❤🙏🙏🙏
If he's releasing one i'm either selling my house to get one or get a squier and relic it like jf's. probs selling my house tho
Wish it was a Yamaha SG 2000 style ((he does like those) as a bit fed up with the usual Fender/Gibson custom shop cost an arm and a leg silliness
If it's real, and if Andertons get one in stock, they have to get you in for a "Pepsi challange" with 7 or 8 other strats
I think it will be a few years until it comes out. I can’t see them releasing soon as it is too similar to the Mike McCready one.
My feelings are quite the same as yours on this.
If they really make a jf signatur model it also has to be really good. So I would hope for it to be in the 1500$ price range. Anything cheaper will come with a lot of compeomises.
Honestly I wouldn't care about a John Frusciante signature Strat but I would a Dave Simpson signature model. You certainly should have one.
Hello Dave. :)
i feel that at this point it’s better to invest in an actual 62’ strat rather than the replica yk like at this point theyre going to charge 1,000-2000+ dollars id just get a real 62’
I’ve played both back b2b and I massively preferred the cheaper one
As a caveat I’d be in to crowd fund for Dave S to get one
he uses the Illich Silent system to calm 60 cycle hum now, that'd be nice to include
or put out a very nice JF Squier
Thank you so much for this insight! John Frusciante is the best guitar player I know. Period. I have listened to RHCP since their first recording. Then JF on Mothers milk!!! OMG!! And then "Blood Sugar Sex Magic" OMG x 1000! Thank you Dave for the insight.
Wasn't he using Kramer on Mothers Milk?
I think maybe he got this new Strat awhile go and it’s just making appearances but it would be cool to have John signature
i hate that its going to be ridiculously priced, but ive been wanting a name brand fender for a while now, i might have to break for a signature john strat
I’ll believe it when I see it
It's a difficult one.
I hope they do. I’ll definitely be getting one. Even if I have to go poor afterwards loo
I can't even afford an Eric Clapton blackie signature strat with out paying through the nose for it
These guitars are made in Ensenada. The EVH is 2k, so take that for what its worth.
Do you think it’s going to be the same as the mcreedy model?
I do yes.
Probably the same price point as well. Just can’t see paying that much.
I heard him say 12 thousand. Did he mean 12 hundred?
Hmmm not for a 12k pounds price. We can probably get a sunburst and have it relic’d for $100 and change pickups and electronics to sound like a 62 or similar to JF.
John Frusciante is top ten of my favorite guitarist, and i just think this is exciting! ✨♥️✨💯
If they do a team built Custom Shop model for around £3,000 then I think that would be reasonable for a the nitro and relicing. Sadly, I suspect you're probably right, Dave and it'll be £10k plus.
