Yeah maybe he is not at 100% of is speed but he is certainly not jogging. He is in control of his speed but he must be at least at 35 km/h (22miles/h) at the end !
I thought just the same! I guess control > all out speed for the jump, for if one can't properly transfer that energy than one won't hit one's bets marks. Just a guess!

Well Powell's 8.95 was most certainly a 'fluke', if you can call it that. While Powell was definitely a great long jumper and was jumping 8.5, 6 and even 8.7 in his prime, getting an extra 25cm and beating the undisputed greatest long jumper of all time is most surely not something he did every day.

Sorry I wrote my original comment very badly. These were supposed to be extra special jumps. But you can't see how far they've jumped in distance. That's the problem with these short videos. There is do lityle information in them You've got to watch them many times to even work out what's going on. And that is most likely intentional.
