That mare looks great for 30.
@@bwenluck9812the neighbor's horse
@@patriciaboies8298 Still that mare looks great for 30 whether she's owned by CC or not.
I broke my ankle in March of 2020, the COVID year. Slipped going downhill when I stepped on a hose that was under the snow; my foot lodged behind a grass clump, but I kept hurtling past and the rest is history. I limped inside and took off MY muck boot right away or it would've had to be cut off. Didn't go to the doctor--because like I said, COVID--and just taped and wrapped it. It happened on March 14, which was a Saturday, so it was the day between Friday the 13th and the Ides of March. I should have known.
I kept on doing my chores every day, hobbling out to the barn to feed horses and collect the manure, keep the water filled and so on. I finally had it x-rayed four months later (yes, four months) just to make sure it had healed properly. Turns out I'd broken it in three places, although nothing was displaced. It's all fine now, but I can tell you for sure that I'm extra, extra careful on hills when it's slippery. I don't have a back-up helper available, so being out of commission for several weeks is a sobering thought.
That chestnut mare is adorable you couldn't begrudge her a few mouthfuls of alfalfa 🥰
I'm glad you have someone to have a look at you every now and again, and save you from being too tough for your own good !
Sorry about your ankle. My knee has gone so we could have helped each other feed the horses lol.
I am so sorry. We all wish we were there to help. I would so muck the stalls and help feed all the kids. Would not forget about the kitties and Huckleberry either. You need to take care, all those lives depend on you being well. It is like on a flight. If the oxygen is deployed you need to take it first so you do not pass out , then you can help others. My name for the new guy is Smokey, I had a horse called Smokey Joe when I was a kid. He was an Appaloosa. He was a rescue with issues but he was great guy once we worked out the kinks.
Brave and calm, Galahad!
He looks like royalty to me. How about "Prince"?
Oh my goodness, please rest up and keep that ice going. The new horse is just gorgeous and his coat reminds me of a storm, Stormy could be a cute name.
I just saw his first video this morning and really wanted to see more of this guy. Thanks for all you do, you’re so sweet to these horses.
As for a name, I think he’s a Prince😂
When I saw you up on the hay, I said to myself, "I hope she doesn't hurt herself. It looks potentially unstable. I had something called "tennis calf" when it happened I heard a loud "pop". Its a tearing of the something in the calf muscle. They gave me a boot to wear , but it was worthless.
Fingers crossed that your injury isn't too serious. Love your videos - even though Im not a horse person!!
He looks like a Stanley 😲
I hope it's not broken. 😢
He's gorgeous. Name him Gemini.
Ghost would be a good name

Ahab the Arab! Your husband sounds like mine! He hates when I hang with the horses too long! he'll come check on me! I hate the thought of Dr visits too. unless it hurts super bad. then like you i take the walk to the dr. How about Sadeeq? It is arabic for friend and he will be a friend for Skelator.
Holy smokes gal! Now I know you are a native! Phone on you for safety? Help when you are muddle headed can mean the difference between life and ...
I agree. Your neighbors horse is living the good life. Well fed and free as a bird..
I’m surprised commenters were concerned about her, she looks so healthy!
I could envy her that!! 😁
@@Groundedsquirrel She does.
Also don't be dumb when you get injured. They come back to haunt you years later. I speak from experience.
@@Trex955 WTF are you talking about ??
"Sterling" as in "silver," as a poster already said: the horse is really pretty and seems really good natured. A gem! May you heal quickly and fully!
Oh I really really like that name for him! It’s so perfect!!
Yes me too I like that name for him it's perfect
That one is great! And he seems like a distinguished gentleman and Sterling seems to match that.
Awesome name suggestion!!
Agree with the rest, Sterling fits him pretty well.
I had a colleague years ago, when I was working in Asia, a lovely Arab man, very calm and competent and a good soul. His name was Rafi, which means "noble" and may be a good name for your lovely new Arab man.
And please take good care of you!
Maybe you won't believe it, but I thought of Rafi also. But then I forgot. So now someone else thankfully (?) thought of it.
I like it! No more than two syllables or it takes all day to call em...😁
I did too!
Sorry, when I hear Rafi I think of the guy who sang children’s’ songs.
Merlin! He looks like a magical unicorn or Pegasus. He needs a magical name.
I really like Merlin!
Lol I thought that too then read your comment
I love Merlin
Haha the first name that came to my mind was Arthur since the little pal is so brave, but Merlin would fit him too honestly 😊
Yes! i was just about to comment Merlin or Arthur or any of the knights
30 year old mare and acting like "girls gone wild" when your guy showed up. Impressive!
If you don't care for yourself first.....who will look after all your chores? Who will love your critters? Look out for yourself girl! ❤
Definition of a real Cowgirl: “so what if I hurt myself, these chores need to be done!” I hope your ankle is feeling better. We all hate when an injury causes us to change our training schedule.
Yup. Had food poisoning during lambing. Timed the vomiting so I could get to the barn and back. But then, there are always buckets. What needs doing needs doing.
Everything, including injuries and illness, happens for a reason. Sometimes for more than one reason. It's usually a need for rest and introspection.
Add in that she has medical background and well … self diagnosing and delays of care are the result.
While healthy ppl in towns living on welfare, foodstamps and housing in their filthy homes.
How about Aladin
I am an X-ray tech and that tibial fix you had was one I don’t see often. You poor girl.
‘Gallant’ seems like a name the old gentle horse could be called
I learned on a white POA named Sir Galahad, Gallie for short . He was a Knight of the Round Table.
I like that name.
@@karenparliament3327 Thank you 😊
Love it
@@kimcentofanti2694 Thank you 😊
Thank you for showing others what a real warrior does even when you're in pain. You're one tough cookie.
Oh just wait on the naming. This boy will do something that will name himself. He is a nice looking Arab & yes they take a while to warm up.
I agree with you. Wait on a name. He will name himself
Watching your videos has pulled me out of the purple funk that I’ve been in for quite a little while. I think I’m probably not the only one who has gotten disheartened with the world and the situation we’ve all been in these past several years. It just seems like there are so many more greedy, selfish, uncaring people in the world. Watching you as you stay focused on your goal in life, doing wonderful things for creatures, hearing how you speak so gently to your animals and how sensitive you are to their needs on a daily basis has really raised my spirits and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Thank you for doing what you’re doing and being who you are.
Ditto!
Me too ❤
Yep!
Same. And so well put -- thank you for sharing 😊
Absolutely!
Sorry about your ankle. That’s frightening.
I think Galahad is a great name for the new horse.
Sir Galahad ❤
I was thinking Sir Galahad!!
I was thinking along the same lines... one of the Knights of the Round Table. I was thinking Percival. Percy for short, of course. 😊
Upvoting for Galahad....I was thinking Percival too but I like Galahad better.
He strikes me as a Mercury. Messenger from the gods, his coat has a silvery tint and he'll help you take Skeletor's temperature. I'm glad you sought medical help. The pain level, awful crack when you twisted it, the swelling and previous injury are all red flags to get it checked.
Ooh I like that name.
Animals that have been moved around a lot sometimes do seem numb to their surroundings. I'm sure this guy, once he realizes he's home, will come around! Gandalf the Gray!
I simply adore your videos ❤ I follow a lot of channels but your videos are the ones I look forward to the most. Love from Denmark 🇩🇰
Thank you so much!!
“Calm”. One of the reasons I left a metro area decades ago was my search for a calm environment. I think we all crave Calm, & that’s one of the reasons we love you and the way you take care of your horses. So heart warming to know their trauma is over.
Name him Nuzzle. He’ll live up to it.
Take it easy on the leg. The biggest fear of animal lovers and carers is “what if I can’t do it?”
I just realized that since he’s hopefully going to be hanging out with Skeletor, maybe he needs to be called He-Man! :D
I like it!
Yes!
Yes!!!
Hahahaha He-Man that’s perfect!!! 🤣
Plus, side note there’s a “Studman”…..
Haha that would be funny, however might want to save that for a big buff horse, LOL!
Casper (the friendly ghost)
Take care of yourself.
As for a name. I would wait for his personality to come out… maybe he will name himself.
i think that sounds like good advice
I love the name Zayn. It's an Arabic boys’ name meaning “beauty” or “grace”. Hope you feel better!
That's a pretty name for him.
Nice!
Hairline fractures usually are hard to see when fresh. They often aren't visible until they start to heal, ironically. I hope it heals quickly!
Just had another avulsion fracture. I am older, but all the body stresses of horse ownership started in my 50’s and now at 68, I am paying the piper, lol.
@@terrifiorelli9819 Me too. And I wouldn't change a thing. Although it would be wonderful if I had the energy I had when I was in my 40's...
Bone scan. It will see hairline fractures that regular x-ray miss.
I'm surprised the neighbors horse is 30. She looks great, she's calm & has a shiny coat. I'm also happy they didn't have to cut your boot off. Sprains hurt more than breaks. Take CARE of yourself!
I am glad your husband is looking at property. I thought it was sort of funny that one of the incentives of going to the doctor was what he would think if you didn’t.
For real! I used to do that when I was younger and had horses. 😅
My friend & I grew up with horses & we both agree that with all the utube shows we watch yours is the one we love the most. We love how. knowledgeable you are .we both hope & pray your ankle is fine. You're amazing . Please take good care of yourself. It seems like you're the only one for these horses. God bless
Love the new guy! He’s so sweet and handsome! He needs a gentleman’s name. So thankful (and hopeful) you didn’t break your ankle. Praying you recover quickly. 💕
Asher!
I can't wait to see him after he's blown that coat-- what a lovely guy he is!
It's hilarious, that the only reason you took yourself to the urgent care, is threat of a grumpy husband; good job husband! Horse ladies are crazy! lol Hope the ankle heals quickly and completely. Do you have back up? Just in case something were to happen? Hope you and hubby find the perfect place to buy. Don't worry about the upload schedule, just take good care of you and heal.
Voted on Aladdin until I heard Gunnar. I vote on Gunnar. Love your videos. You are just the kindest person and take the best care of your animals. ❤️

Awesome name
@@bettybiskuit798 just realised what your name is. Nice one. 🍪👏🏻👏🏻😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cute!
Bless you for taking care of your animals first in spite of your injury! I would do the same, then GO TO THE DOCTOR ASAP. Been there, done that... !
I think we all have at some point 😅 but yeh, always need to be thinking safety 🤔
Hey, you are a GREAT SHOT, with those alfalfa wads!!!! Good thing, with that ankle injury... saves you some steps!!!! Hope it heals up soon. Be a good patient !! I like to get an idea of the new animal I get, to give them the right name, too. What a great guy!!!
Congratulations on confirming the legend of the farmers who refuse medical care in order to keep farming! You are a HERO!
Until you do permanent damage to your body.
@@Korina42
On the contrary,! Once you’re permanently injured, you can use the tip of your cane to aerate the soil.
@@wbwarren57 😄 Fair point. Still, I'd rather break a bone than tear a ligament.
@@wbwarren57 Or you pair of crutches!😅
@@Korina42 Yeah, I crushed my foot over 35 years ago. Had a horse throw me, I landed underneath and she crushed it sideways before she ran away. All soft tissue and it still bothers me some if I walk †oo much or climb ladders and then stand on the narrow steps for too long. But it could have been much worse. She could have landed on my chest or head and I would have been a goner for sure.
Lancelot - ok I am too romantic
Haha. I thought that too.
When I first saw your new guy, the name Smokey Joe popped into my mind. You could always call him Joe Joe for short. I hope your leg is okay. When I was a teenager, I broke my foot, and I walked off on it. My parents didn’t take me to the hospital for x-rays because I walked to my friend’s house. We didn’t have urgent care in the 1960s. I discovered it had been broken when I broke it again in my 20’s. Women are tough beasts.
😁!
So sorry that you are hurting. You are really one tough lady! You remind me of my late husband's work ethic. He had same day surgery to remove a large kidney stone he was unable to finish passing. As I drove him home, it stopped snowing. Instead of coming into the house with me, he climbed into his truck, lifted the plow, and went off to take care of his customers' driveways. Ten hours later he finally got back and let me pamper him (that is, after I voiced my opinion in a loud manner). God, I miss him! ❤😢
America runs on these good guys, same as mine.
Maybe the Horse Person has a little gremlin in the back of their mind telling them that the money they would spend on the doctor would be better spent on the Vet or more mash for the horse!
Noooooooo! As long as everyone is fed, all is well. All that poop shoveling and deshedding can wait. Take care of YOU. ❤
I like the suggestions made of "Gandalf," "Merlin," or "Ghost."
Hehe Skeletor and Ghost 👻
Ghost is cute!!
Rex.... Skelator & Rex ~
Nurse over 25 yrs, ICU .... I hate going to the dr... I sure don't want to be admitted... just toss my carcass in a ditch & let God & mother nature take its course... so much has changed & not all for the better... an old school nurse here ~ take care of yourself, there is only one you!!! You're a working girl, you had your work clothes on, not a darn thing wrong with that!!!
I like what you called him as you hobbled up - Buddy. With arthritis and old fractures I now work safer with a single point cane leaving me the other hand for pulling a wagon, not as Sharpe with a wheelbarrow. I get things done just slower. Suggestion for next spring with Nigel. Wash with a nice massage action, conditioner with dwell time and warm water rinse with just running hose and scrubby glove. If he is anything li,e my heavy double coated dog the dry brush out after may mean 1 day's work not 3. Please have an upended 5 gallon b7cket on either side of him and plunk your butt. Save your back working on the shorty "no legs" horse.
He is really sweet. If he’s quiet, how about Shadow. Thanks for doing these extra videos, I’m really enjoying them and hope you get your dream of just working with your horses.❤🐎
I love Shadow! He is a shorter Shadowfax!
Shadow was the first name that came to my mind.
I quite like that. He will be Skeletor's shadow. I hope they get along.
I liked some of the names a lot. You've gotta see how he's gonna be after he starts being himself.
Girl, take care of your self! We love seeing you care for your horses being a hero. But...we enjoy you and want you healthy and happy to be able to keep going. Take care please. The horses that fall thru the cracks need your kind care!!
I loved it when you said Huckleberry must love something in the horses poop because he was acting like he was never going to see another horse turd
A rare commodity! Novel turds 😆
He sure looks like a "Cherokee" or "Apache" to me. And good lord take care of yourself; all your babies depend on you. I would suggest asking around if anybody has a teenage daughter who likes horses that might clean stables and do some chores for riding lessons...
Yeesss. Or Wichita. Like this Wichita Tribe.

Arabic for gray. The Arabic word ﺭَﻣَﺎﺩِﻱّ means gray. It is pronounced ramaadiyy.
Storm would be a good name. For some reason he reminds me of the sky when a storm is going to come.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, but do take care of yourself!
Oh Goodness hope you’re on the mend soon. The fact your couldn’t feel your toes a big red flag! Please take care 😢
That ~30 yo horse looks amazing, hope your leg is ok girl ❤
How about whisper since he seems so calm and quiet?
Oh man….good lord girl!!!! Sending you healing vibes! Get better asap!!!!!
Name “Samir” meaning a friend to talk with in the evening. Arabic word. This, according to the internet anyway.
The 30 year horse looks amazing.
Good to note, sometimes fractures cannot be seen on X-rays until a week later. If the radiologist doesn’t see anything and you are still very painful a week later, might be a good idea to go get more X-rays. Feel better! ❤️
That happened to me with my ankle. Went in just got it wrapped, went back in a week later, yep broken.
I like the name Chester, hope you do also. Please don’t be too hard on yourself showing up at urgent care a little dusty, you’re a horsewoman not a princess, getting cleaned up and changing clothes was the last thing n your mind! I’m sure the doctor and staff understand. TBH, I don’t know which is worse, soft tissue damage or fracture! Sending healing vibes your way!
In my expereince the soft tissues ones are worse as sometimes the soft tissue never heals completely (or maybe it's just a lot of scar tissue). I've had both and the broken bones healed long ago so no pain as long as I don't hit it directly with something hard. like a shovel. But the soft ones start complaining when I've worked them too long. The first break was a leg. The last soft tissue was a crushed foot (sideways from the small toe side to the big toe side...)
He looks great! Hope your foot is better! How about Anwaar (Arabic for light/radiance) Also take care of yourself, so you can take care of your family and all the horses!
5:37 she is in AMAZING condition for her age. I have a 28yo paint horse and she is living her best life ❤
Rest up that leg/ankle and take care of yourself. If you don't care for yourself, you can't take care of Huckleberry, Tiny or Feisty Nigel of the Man Bun, much less anyone else. Be well and all the good thoughts for your speedy recovery.
So funny Huckleberry is acting like it’s the last horse turd he will get to eat.
So sorry about your leg. The new guy has such a beautiful face! He looks like a Prince.
I agree!
Gandalf would be a good name for him. Grey and wise. And you will soon be amazed at his ability to do the unexpected.

You mean hermano. Hermano= brother
Hi CC! I’m so sorry about your ankle, and I am relieved that at least so far, it doesn’t seem to be broken. 🙏😊 I knew when you didn’t post a midweek video something was up. Taking better care of oneself is always a good goal, but I understand how hard it is when you have a lot of animals depending on you, not to mention your husband, and I’m sure others. ❤ As for a name, it’s hard to pick one, like you said, when he is being so stoic. I came up with He-Man to go with Skeletor, lol. But this guy doesn’t look like a “He-Man”. I don’t think that is a good horse name anyways. Now I’m thinking Darcy. Mr. Darcy was stoic and all business. 🤔 Just a thought! He sure is a beautiful horse. I’m so glad his jaw is looking so much better. Take care and have a blessed weekend! 🐴🐴
That sound of a bone snapping is unforgettable. Ouch. Hope it heals up. I vote for Sam
Yes, I was only 12 when my bone snapped and I haven’t forgotten!!
My heart sank when it turned out you hurt yourself. I hope you recover quickly - and yes please do put as much love and attention in yourself as you do for the horses you care for! You deserve it!
And all her horses and other critters need her to be healthy to care for them.
I was thinking Pepper, but like Merlin a lot.
Romeo. He looks like a lover at least the mare thinks so.
Oh yes! A classic!
For me he looks like "Toby", greetings from Germany 🍀
I love the name “Stirling” for this sweet guy.
This name is a bit of royalty for Stirling Castle in Scotland that stands strong just like this sweet guy.
Or “Stirling” for the color of his coat being close to Stirling Silver.
This sweet boy finally landed in safe hands, love that he’s with you & my vote is for a bit of royalty & Stirling suits him.
I’m new to you & your channel and thank you to you for having everything in you to do all that you do. ✌️🫶💪

I had an Arab Quarter horse cross years ago, dapple gray, and his name was Smokey. He was so sweet with lots of personality. Loved that horse.
I can not wait to see how he looks after a few months of your feeding program. He is going to be gorgeous. Great find that one! My favorite breed definitely misunderstood. They have stamina for days, great feet, smart, easy to train, and loyal. Think border collie vs. golden retriever. I would not be surprised if he becomes a favorite of yours.

I like the suggestion of Sterling for his name. It just seems to fit him in color and in attitude.
I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist hobbling around checking out the new horses poop. lol
Gotta keep an eye out for the new horse!
That horse that is 30yrs old looks amazing doesn't even looks old. She isn't neglected.
Huckleberry was concerned as soon as you hurt your leg, our animal companions read us without our concept of language. As for a name of your new horse, I would choose: ‘Switch-Back’ as a marker of his return to a true partnership with humans.
I am sending you a few more bales of hay, you are a top Cowgirl!
A long list of names is in the works, it seems.... glad to know that you made it through chores and onto the doctor.
As for names for your noble-looking horse....I would wait until his personality comes through more.
I love his coloring maybe Cloud?
