These do sound really excellent in this demo. Arturia is absolutely crushing it for the past few years.

Awesome vintage emulations. High quality stuff with much vibe and such smooth tones, nice break up saturation. 3 excellent new tones in the arsenal. Love the complete FX2 Collection. Thank you. Keep up the great work. Cheers

I adore the 1973! I tried a mix with just that on every channel and it was exhilarating. Don’t know if the engineers at Arturia will ever look at this, but a visual analysis of what’s going on would be a complete game-changer, and make this innocuous little guy a bit of a secret weapon.

These preamps are fantastic! They're the best emulations of these pre's I've come across. Good Job!

I just got the trident, which we have a full console of at my school, so now I get my same consistent tone in the box and out! When I saw that one of the few rare plug-in version of this was made by Arturia, I had to jump on it!

Also, including the EQ circuits from these preamps make them so much more usable than all the other brands that just include a trim and a bypass (and occasional drive/thd). I love that you’re not forcing us to buy multiple redundant products if we’re looking to emulate a console sound!

What is the appropriate level to feed INTO the preamp? Sometimes it looks like the needle is slammed and the input is at zero. Other times it's not as severe. Is there an appropriate starting level? What should the needle ideally be doing when the input is all the way down for a vocal?

hi arturia! question! I want to plug in my guitar+effect pedals in my audio interface into my DAW. I'd like to give back some warmth that may be lost when doing the AD conversion by my (RME) soundcard/interface. Which of your three preamps is best for this purpose?

Can't seem to find any info on this, but how do you engage the automatic gain compensation on these? Is it on by default or does it need to be activated somehow?

    • @supersquare
      @supersquare 6 лет назад +1

It's on automatically. Turning up the input gain on't raise the output volume, it only adds harmonics

3 bands, one of which is fixed permanently at certain frequency in 1073. Really? Guys, Im not buying “we replicated original vintage unit” stuff. Who cares about original gear if it lacks of functionality?
Because three bands IS NOT ENOUGH! For example: you can’t use Arturia 1073 for EQing electric guitar. Usually you need to cut off some extreme high sizzle with high shelf (band 1), lowpass some rumble below 100hz (lowpass filter), add high mid bite (band 2), boost low end (band 3), cut some mud in lowmid region (band 4). Can you do this with pre1073? No. You possibly can do it with some other 3-band EQ plugin, if you switch high band to bell mode for boosting upper mids, and use mid band for cutting mud... But you can not switch highshelf to bell and you can not select frequency for high band in Arturia plugin.
“Dude, this is preamp plugin, not EQ!” Oh yes? Why not to release it with just only gain knob? Slate have Neve pre without EQ.
I understand that they have modeled hardware. But why did they model all its limitations? Why not to simply add second mid band? Is it complicated to clone mid band? Why not to add selectable frequencies for high shelf?
Arturia developers did great job with compressors. They extended 1176 functionality by adding bunch of stuff (sidechain EQ, mix knob, etc) that was not in original unit. So why not to implement same approach to their preamps?
Also, saturation on 1073 plugin is very subtle on max settings. Would be great if they add “boost” knob which will turn it in to real distortion (like PSP ClassicQ or Sonimus Burnley)
And one thing about GUI that ANNOYS me. When you open it on mono track you have simple clean GUI - one instance of EQ and preamp. But when you open it on stereo track you have two instances of EQ and preamp inside one plugin. Why? 90% of the time you EQing stereo track in Linked mode. That means you EQing left and right channel same way. Why I need two instances of EQ on screen if one is enough in this scenario? I distracts attention, reduce productivity. It only confuses user.
Why not to open second instance of EQ ONLY if you switch plugin in M/S mode?
Just remove “00” (stereolink) button. Transform two way switch (L/R - M/S) in to three way switch (L/R - 00 - M/S). “00” middle position set buy default. In this mode you have only one instance of EQ on screen. When you switch to L/R or M/S - second instance opens. Just that simple.
Dont get me wrong, I respect Arturia team and appreciate their work. As I said - FET compressor by Arturia is one of the best (if not the best) 1176 emulation. I hope they will update preamp plugins, will make them more usable. Because they sound already good, they just miss some functionality.
P.S. Would be awesome if Arturia add 1081 mode to this plugin also. Both preamp and curves. So we'll have two EQs in one plugin! But they need to add second mid band, though.
