Obviously the TTRS is the one to get. But that W204 C63 just sounds mental! Couple of mods on that and its in my top 5 the best sounding engines of all time.
The Abarth 124 is pretty cool. A cheaper option is the standard 124 which has just 30HP less and this is what I drive. Driven sportily it will achieve 40MPG, (more if you drive slowly), it's ULEZ compliant, and road tax in the UK is about £180. Manual roof which takes seconds to put up or down and the roof down experience is great, even at motorway speeds. One interesting thing to note is that the 2016 model is rated at Euro 5 for emissions and the identical 2018 model is rated at Euro 6. Reliability on these cars seems good and oil consumption on mine is virtually zero. A refreshing change from the oil burning TT that I owned before this.
The BMW is actually very reliable in terms of the engine and gearbox. You can budget to fix the rod bearings for about £1,600. Throttle actuators when they go for the pair are something like £600. The engine is otherwise good. A few electrical problems can arise but it’s small stuff. All cars like these have their foibles. I’ve had mine 4 years and had a wheel speed sensor go! Done 35k in it in that time.
I just got an m135i with 55k miles for 16.7k, just worth a mention for anyone looking M140i's also come under the 20k budget :) great video though lots of cool alternatives i wish id looked at👌
Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. Love the C63 NA, was close to buying one a couple years back, will definitely go down as a modern classic with that engine.
Had the Cayman 987S and it's the only car I regret parting with. Practical (two lots of luggage storage, back boot takes golf clubs), two-year service cycle and handles beautifully. That and every time you get in the car, there's the Porsche badge sat looking back at you. Currently saving for a 981S, not interested in the 4-pot 718 at all.
I bought the facelift C63 last year and since then would never change it for anything willingly. I drove it way too much and spent my whole paycheck on fuel the first month hahaha
Personally I don't find the i30N firm at all. Also looks really good in the wild, especially in red I think. I didn't buy one since it lacks a bit of character, the pops don't cover the awful sound, the interior feels cheap and it's no more economical than my porker. Also, the diff feels incredibly unnatural. Having said all that, it's very well equipped, quick enough and fairly fun to throw around, I'd probably pick the Hyundai from this list I think... ...but once I've taken the porker to Goodwood, I think I'll be getting a 308 GTi. The engine is bonkers, plus it weighs 1205kg - I think it's quicker round a track than the Mk7 Golf R (and in-gear pulls). Not that I'd buy a car for Top Trumps these days, it's all about smiles per miles and the Pug was a clear winner of the hot hatches. F-Type was too much of a GT. S4 was surprisingly tempting, would be interesting if the Pug wasn't £10k cheaper. The steering is, even by modern hot hatch standards, floppy...but then it's a 2/10 surrounded by 3/10s. It was the only car I could drive flat out within 5 mins of sitting in it, which is always a good sign.
Test drive all of them and pick.... The rs is a beast, raw but quick then again the i30n is more modern and still quick as well as being desirable.... If you are not a badge snob
Some of these cars look nice but don't drive nice the engines are poorly put together and do not last long especially if you ragg them around mostly timing chain problems is very Common if you're not a mechanic you can get stung like a bee the best cars that were ever built was 25 years ago nearly all cars would do half a million miles and more with regular servicing the servicing schedules used to be every 6000 miles now they are something like 10 to 15000 some even 20000 intervals which is absolutely ridiculous there is only one thing that protects the engine components and that is fresh oil in good condition anyway you could do a video on 25-year old cars the E-Class SL w124 and many other reliable built to last cars not forgetting The Unforgettable E30 325i ect ect
Abarth is not fast, at all. They're nice but they shouldn't be on this list.. should have put a Clio rs on this instead since they're faster than the abarth as plenty of cars are.
Is reliable on your list? You mention all these lovely cars but do not say anything about reliability and you need that with some of these models if you will not face massive repair bills.
A video from cars with JB oh yes lemme get comfy
This channel is underrated, making quality content with solid research
The abarth 124 spyder is such an under rated car. I drove one with a few mods at a track meet recently and it was brilliant fun.

We don't give a fuck about mpg mate, were looking at sport cars FFS 🤦
Someone on the road next to me has the i30N and I stare at it every time I walk past!
That TT RS 😍

Ur forgetting the injectors are made of chocolate, expensive job
@@TheAnmolgill That's quite a new problem I understand. Not so sure how common it is and how much is people scaremongering.
For my money the C63. Fantastic video.
Well done JB on another mouth watering video 👍
I have an e92 m3 and it’s amazing get one you’ll love it sounds epic and drives amazing

It's the TTRS, RS focus or C63 for me!
I'd probably want the Golf R estate as a daily, but otherwise, likely the E92/3 M3

Fk2 is a great car, the faults you mentioned are rare. It’s a real head turner love it or hate it, it does stand out
Love you JB
I clicked LIKE even before watching cos it’s certain it will be informative. Anyone else agree?
Your a legend
Great cars. Saw a young guy in a C63 do a burnout in one of these at a wedding. Lets just say the residents weren't happy 😅
Slag do!! Go on son 😂😂😂
The Abarth spider looks like a baby F Type Jaguar don't you think
It's mad to think you can't get a Focus RS for less than 20k with 100000 miles on it! 😮
BMW M3 E92 or Focus RS for me ☺.
same

Greaat ! Why are these monsters getting so cheap ?
Rank the cars in order of expense to modify to stage 2, or in order of running cost and for brakes and service.....
RS5? just saying the 4.2 V8 is incredible and you can grab one for 15k easily - i sold my tt rs for this and wouldnt go back :D
Why
B7 RS4 over that
How much for the C63 AMG Estate?
Not sure I can take this seriously when you're putting the Elise ahead of the vx220 which is far superior 😋
The elise with the old Toyota engine was more known for bottom end bearing failure
this is too hard to choose- I physically can't 😭
either the mk2 focus, or the e9x, or the i30n... argh!
Test drive all of them and pick.... The rs is a beast, raw but quick then again the i30n is more modern and still quick as well as being desirable.... If you are not a badge snob
If you can afford to run an e90 M3, it’s 110% worth it!
@@matenagypal7322 very tru, the RS has a brilliant engine as well & the drive modes in the i30N are insane- hyandai's N nodels are just brill!
@Reezy K i'd luv one... when i'm old enough to drive (not as my 1st, but maybe my 3rd idk)
RS5 V8 is the one for me
The hyundai i30n has a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty 😮
Probably the cayman or the TTRS
C63 all day long!
C63 😁
We both have a complete different view on what is cheap. C63? In what way are they cheap? They aren't
the fiat multipla turns heads for a lot less
👍👍
TTRS. Sound track bias...
Most of these cars will bend anyone over with their tax, insurance, maintenance and fuel costs :/
focus rs here is 28k
All of these are still way overpriced still from covid.
Agreed, everything is massively over inflated from housing to cars. Need a good recession to wipe the slate clean.
If you want a 4C, don't buy anything else! Just save.
Focus rs is awd not fwd
Actually that’s the mk3 lol
None of them are head turners lets be honest but nice cars anyway

We have a very different idea of what’s cheap my man lol
'cheap'
Cheap??? lol
cheap fast cars. 🤦♂️
