It was a wet old day, but the rain stopped and we were able to get a few hours in on the creek. It was a good finish to the weekend after heading out camping and watching the AFL Grand Final by a nice river, no prospecting done, just having a few beers around the campfire. Cheers mate

Bigger than fly poop..... blowie dumps 😂. The water definitely doesn't hang around ling up your way. Even my patch is drying up, no more forward classifier sluice .😢 back to back breaking panning! At least you found a bit Pete, thanks for the adventure again mate. Cheers Andy PPA 👍

The fly's are big around here mate. We needed a little more rain, the creek thought about running, but it dried up even more when we were there, so we were lucky to get that time in. Cheers mate

Great improvising on the dry creek, Pete! Good testing the layers, geology and archeology, how's the ancient bushfire remains nearest to the white clay, wowswrs. It reminds of finding something that was like black glass but was fossilized burnt wood near where I'd taken mum today, the path too steep for her, so went to another spot. She fished the reservoir above and I panned the creek below, three pans for one fly speck of gold, but small black sapphires, not spinel, they glos pink with UV torch, vut not clear, so corundum, in the black sands. With the giant snuffer bottle it seemed a fail, but the therapy with foldout chair fishing, drinks and snacks with ducks and blue coots, and the bait pump worked a treat, recently rediscovered in the garage, but leaving the shovel behind was a bad mistake. I should have tried pumping yabbies, lots of holes about, although weirdly never did pump yabbies, only saltwater critters! Too hot now for rubber gloves in the cold mountain creeks, golf gloves, we don't golf!, are strong enough to prevent cuts from the piles of broken glass from 130 years of locals getting pissed and turfing their bottles onto the smooth arc of the reservoir wall.
On detecting where I'd planned, we'd wanted to use the detector on a section of the creek that is mostly flat bedrock with a broad run area of smaller gravels, the bigger boulders and rocks pushed clear, except for one giant, where we'd dug under for a nugget the size of an index fingernail and 3mm thick. A tail of heavies I ought follow! Cheers and best of luck, well aided by clever improvisation, onya!

I was expecting it to be flowing and Andrew also bought a river sluice to run, we were a little suprised to see it all but dry still, but we had enough water to play around in. Well it sounds like you had a great day out with mum, you got a little bit of colour, but did mum catch a fish? Happy hunting on your next trip out. Cheers

There were times on the goldfields that I wished I had a crowbar with me, that hole would be place to use it, the picks are ok, but some jobs required the heavy artillery. Not that i liked the idea of carrying a heavy steel bar around with me. Well! As all good storys go, it all panned out in the end! Cheers Mate

It was drying up while we where there, I dug my panning hole, went and got some gravel and it had dropped in water level. It got thick and muddy quick, I did try another water hole, but it was too far away. It was funny when I saw your video and you were trying to pan in a dry creek, we both had the same idea, although I though mine would have had water, but that's the creeks around here. Cheers mate

Thanks it Andrew, a change is as good as a holiday, I'd rather the actual holiday though. We''ll have to dig that clay out and stick it into the trommel, once there's water there. Cheers mate
