A couple observations: 1- I think Steve's technique has really improved over the last several years. He's become quiet an excellent player. 2- Vic's slapping almost ruined an otherwise beautiful piece. Just sounded out of place here.
@grigor27 Don't be so pretentious. David Haynes is a real drummer. You think you can play a drum pad like that without knowing actual drum theory? They're playing at a namm show to display the newest instruments on the market... get over it.
Call me old school, but I don't believe in giving solo status to someone like "Fingers" who doesn't do much more than type on an electronic device. He may be great at what he does, but I'm not impressed with the medium.
Sad that you think so... doing what he does requiers a lot of skill. I am a drummer, and no matter what medium you choose, it becomes a skill to play what he does. What comes out of it is what counts, no matter what you hit, as a drummer.
Then let's see you fit a full kit on a limited, pre-assigned stage space. Also, playing an instrument is about the feel and skill you put into playing your instrument, not whether or not your instrument is 'old school'. Put a shit drummer on a kit and he won't be able to keep up with good drummer on a drum pad. David is still playing in all the right places, he still has to hit the right things to make his playing sound good, and there is nothing in the pre-programmed sounds to pick up after him if he makes a mistake. As far as 'typing on an electronic device' goes, what do you think of keyboard players? Are they talentless in your opinion too?
You must not be a musician. The hours of practice, the musical insight and the rhythmic muscle memory required to do what Haynes does is no different from that required of a "limb" drummer. Even if you don't see a grid or pad device as a musical instrument, your EARS should tell you that Haynes' musical gifts warrant a solo. But you did say you're "old school". Maybe your hearing's going.
Thanx for sitting in for me and playing this for me Vic - I couldn't make it. And Vic, if u need more tips on how to play call me and I will help u out some more - u'll be good one day Vic, just keep trying. :)
A new word needs to be enacted for this spectacle of Stupniousnessim & That Word Is RIDONKULOUS-Joey[Flock Of Schmiegels] how much cooler can they get w/o freezing???
@SantiagoGT15 he did get impressed. watch as fingers solos the guy in the back begins to smile look around and smile more. just watch because even he realized that was some intense drums......
Why the reverb!? Bass and reverb don't mix!! Yeah and I don't like Steve's playing either. I don't have his skills, but he can't play those hamonics without the verb.
OMG IM OVER HERE SCREEAAMING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAHAHAHAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THESE GUYS ARE ALIENS LOL OMG THIS WAS NOT NORMAL WHY WHY ...... THAT WAS NICE
this is really really awesome!..as much as i love danger man this haynes character needs to be in the rhythm seat in the flecktones...he grooves & danger man does not..he is at the same level of skill as wooten etc..danger man is not...& tell me has anyone seen or heard danger man solo like haynes??..it's time to evolve flecktones!.
that drum pad really sounds very good, maybe not as authentic as a real kit, but for the price, as well as the versatility and ease of transportaton, it's amazing!
Love IT! Please go check out this dude on Electronic Drums too! > Kyle Jones Wave Drum Part 1 and part 2 ... They should get these two guys together! OMG!!
What a great blend between the 2 bass players! This trio sounds so complete- melody, harmony, and rhythm. With just 2 basses and a live drum machine player! Now that's travelling light!!!
I play like Victor wooten in my dreams...then i wake up.
Outstanding
Haynes fingers solo, sounds better than my solo with both hand.

2:55 sounds like jean pierre :P
Funny.
Victor said himself that he can't do what Steve does.

Nope, and all solos sound the same.
Victor eres cansino tio, quieres hacer tanto que fallas mas que las escopetas de feria, malisima ejecucion y el sonido cada vez peor, de verdad...
Call me old school, but I don't believe in giving solo status to someone like "Fingers" who doesn't do much more than type on an electronic device. He may be great at what he does, but I'm not impressed with the medium.
What Roy Wooten does with his modified synth axe pretty much the same thing that dave does

ive never seen anyone that good at one of those drum machines, jesus...
Dude killed it on the drum machine and the bass solos, forget about it
Oh My God.
The Finger Drum guy is extremely talented.
Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey are both, of course, the greatest in the universe.
wow.
Crazy ass drum solo, totally lost me in the middle of it haha.
David "Fingers" Haynes....hmm....I think I have a new favorite drummer. lol
That was fun, and impressive.
@milkmonster99 David "Fingers" Haynes. He's crazy good!
Dave is the man! Oh yeah, and for those wondering, he can do the same on a REAL set. Dont get it twisted.
@Lee222222 you cant hold no groove if you aint got no pocket...
God aint gonna build it for you, you gotta work it out man...
Wow David is tearin it up... this dude is better with his drumpads than some the drummers I've seen on kits hahahahaha
Thanx for sitting in for me and playing this for me Vic - I couldn't make it. And Vic, if u need more tips on how to play call me and I will help u out some more - u'll be good one day Vic, just keep trying. :)
the guy in the back seems unimpressed... I guess he didn't realize who was playing just next to him
Haynes fingers drum solo, will always sound better than my solo with both hand.
Has anyone ever seen Steve Bailey playing anything else but a fretless 6-string bass?
I just die and reborn for almost 10 minutes
MEGA tight groove from all players.
2:54 hahaha Miles Davis's "jean pierre" lick
aaaaaaaaaahhh!!!!! heeey!!! WOW! They are amazing!!!

insane drum solo

One problem most musicians seem to have is they think that is they say something sucks people will think they know what they are talking about.
7 pessoas que erraram o botão do Like...
not very impressive? obviously you dont know how hard it is to play the way they do, if you did you would be drooling over this video
I agree. I am not a fan of Steve Bailey. As far as the fretless I don't think there is a player alive better than Michael Manring.
Steves playing is so distinctive. love it.
what kind of controller is David is playin on....it's not his usual drum machine......?????????
that is way too good.
victor wooten steve baily. and haynes.
gosh dat is too much greatness.
I hate to know 4 deaf people clicked on this video and were sad they couldn't hear it.
its very good how they play, but it sounds not very amazing...thats my opinion.
Shouldn't it be illegal to have THAT much talent on stage at once? Daaaammmnnn.
@TalonTSI95 i'm not pretentious; i just prefer genuine original instruments
i think we can all agree vic is insane at 3:24 now that is some slapping
this sounds like a fast grove of the thrill is gone at some parts
they actualy are playing footprints... just there own style
Always the sneaky jean pierre xD
goodbye acoustic drum set...LoL!
Steve's neck is really short when he's focused...
Bet Haynes never plays football or basketball.
Haha somebody steal your sense of humour?
wau q mostroes el de la bateria
that was so good it was just stoopid!!
what gear is the drummer using?
No...It's not a mandala pad....
this is really really awesome!..as much as i love danger man this haynes character needs to be in the rhythm seat in the flecktones...he grooves & danger man does not..he is at the same level of skill as wooten etc..danger man is not...& tell me has anyone seen or heard danger man solo like haynes??..it's time to evolve flecktones!.
Victor wwooten, el bajista màs completo de la historia!!
saludos desde Uruguay..
Ismael Viera.

Not incredible
PHENOMENAL
I think is a mandala pad...
@taradare1 its a Korg nanopad, which is just a controller. I own one and several others like it. In my opinion, the M-Audio Triggerfinger is the best.
Love IT! Please go check out this dude on Electronic Drums too! > Kyle Jones Wave Drum Part 1 and part 2 ... They should get these two guys together! OMG!!
@Kadavernazion Hahaha yeh i totally forgot it was... then I was like im diging that drum beat whos the drummer :P Then I remembered..
wow these gay's are crazy
i like how victor broke out of the standard of the song and started slapping like a crazy person. it was so unique to the rest of the song.
What a great blend between the 2 bass players! This trio sounds so complete- melody, harmony, and rhythm. With just 2 basses and a live drum machine player! Now that's travelling light!!!
I think is a mandala pad
DAMN!!! OMG this was so freakin TIGHT! victor wooten and steve bailey excellent job guys! dude on the drums too! great job!
i love the way the sound engineer in the corner looks more and more overjoyed every time you see him, awesome stuff!!
CRAZY ASS DRUM SOLO.
lol steve bailey has that look of "does this sound good" when he makes that focused face lol!!!!!
@2decades2late ..oh! crap!..yes your right,my mistake.Thank you for the correcting my mistake:).
Meanwhile, Dave is thinking, "Darn, I feel so left out, I'm the only one without a bass..."
I just realized they were playing the wayne shorter tune "footprints" one of my favorites to jam on
WOW.... Victor, Steve & "Fingers" ..... coudlnt ask for more.... thanks for posting....!!
all i have to say is amazing victor and steve are probly the best to pair in a free jam
He's pretty cool. He plays drums (the real ones) as well and is pretty damn good.
And he is pretty entertaining, if you watch it without volume;)
But that drum solo...
watching them have fun makes me enjoy watching them. they're so loose up there.
great trio =)
@Lee222222 Amen!
Nice, now we just need to get Vic and Alvin Mills together with David Haynes.
Masters
