    Thanks for the memory lane trip :)

    I always thought they shouldve had Tina go train on Paradise Island and become the new Wonder Girl. It would've been eerily similar to the Donna Troy origin story.

      Never understood why WW couldn't help her get home. Being from another demention herself.. or took her to Paradise Island so she can master her Power.

      @@d1malcriao Also I have asked myself such a question, expecially for the return of Emmadona in her own world; Wonder Woman could use the Underwater uniform and board the submarine and try to force the kidnapper to return Emmadona to her world.
      Probably we will never have an answer.
      See you soon.

    It's like in the comics. In the 1st season the had Drusilla (Donna. Who they producers used a different name because it sounded too close to Diana) as Wonder girl. And then in the 2nd season they have Tina, who powers come from the jewelry she wears; which is like Cassie Sandsmark when she was 1st introduced as "Wonder Girl II" Come to think of it, the comic probably got that from this😁

    No-THEWALKINGTVGUIDE, this isn't Andrea Barber. I think the actress in this episode may be slightly older since this is from the late 70's (79-80ish), but definately not Kimmy from Full House.

    the wonder woman show is really a classic, however there is one thing about the show that i never understood. Why is it the show had to put in bionic sound effects even tho the actual wonder woman character never had bionics?

    • @tideoftime
      @tideoftime 5 лет назад +1

      Well, they're not the "bionic" sound effects of The Six Million Dollar Man/The Bionic Woman, but rather sound effects for Wonder Woman within her series. It was an accepted storytelling conceit (especially in the 70s, though still persisted for years after that) to have non-diegetic sound effects for when a character did something superhuman/extraordinary. (This covers two points: 1) it enhances the sensory effect of a character doing "x" in a superhuman way, relative to the viewer; and 2) it does provide audio cue for blind persons that something unusual is happening on the screen, as well as how long something is happening based on how long the sound effect lasts.) Fun Trivia: though not always definitively understood as such, the "crash of thunder" that accompanies WW's burst of light transformation is also intended to be non-diegetic (only heard/understood by the audience for dramatic purposes, not within the show itself to be heard by other characters). This is established in a couple of the 1940s/ABC-set stories where WW's transformation doesn't wake the room of beauty contestants even though she is just a few feet away from them when she changes, as well as in Drusilla's memory flashback of watching Diana learn how to transform, when/where there is no "crash of thunder" but just the explosion of light.
      Again, many sound effects were used in many different sci-fi/adventure shows of that time largely as a matter of presentation/dramatic effect.

  • @NICKARRIOLA16

    Who is this girl?

    • @tideoftime
      @tideoftime 5 лет назад +1

      Her name is Amadonna(sp)/"Tina" (understood to later have the last name Penrose from her adoptive guardian); she was from an island called Ilandia, in a penumbral reality removed from Earth (similar to Paradise Island in the series, except even more removed from Earth, dimension-wise, as Wonder Woman doesn't know how to get her back to her homeworld). She is one of the few children/people endowed (via the bracelets and necklace they are given, which are magically irremovable) with the ability to convert their mental will into physical/kinetic power. She can have super strength and agility similar to WW's, as well as the ability -- with focus/concentration -- to create force fields. This was potentially a backdoor plot for either a spin-off series or for a recurring role/character; however, they decided not to go in that direction and the actress who played her (Julie Ann Haddock) went on to be one of the girls the following year on the first season of The Facts of Life.
