I really like to use soft stickbaits rigged texas or wacky and get them up under docks with grass. Our a topwater from works real well under docks with grass.
Depends on the day really all presentations you talked about can work. I normally start out with pitching to the area I want to and let it fall and small hope or two then repeat.
That rod I was using is more of a moderate, I do like a fast action for football heads but the rod in the video really is kind of an in between actually.
Good stuff, I use a homemade stand up jig and double tail chompers in 5 inch. I fish some of the same WI lakes you used to fish, did you target docks in WI during the summer? I usually shy away from them because of the clear water.
They love the docks in the clear water as well especially in the summer. Just need to make longer cast and not get too close to the docks. Even though you can't see them under there and you would think you can, they will come out of nowhere

When you fish around docks how high up in the water column do you raise your jig? Do you drag it? Or swim it around? Or just raise and let it fall?
