"Chanting On" is an impressive compilation drawn from several critically acclaimed Culture albums spanning the 80's and 90's as well as earlier roots material.
Culture is reggae’s preeminent harmony group. Born in the 70′s golden age of reggae, the ever viable Culture garnered continual US and international acclaim for its long series of classic “roots” albums. Culture’s legendary “Two Sevens Clash” (Shanachie) was Reggae Album of the Year in 1977 and is acknowledged today by Rolling Stone Magazine (April 11, 2002) as #25 of the 50 all time coolest records (the only reggae album to make the list).

When the Rastaman speaks of Ethiopia or in this case Addis, we really mean Africa as a whole. So this song is meant for Africa. Not particularly Ethiopia.

There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa
The ruler of that land
Which is far away
His name is King Selassie
King of Kings and Lord of Lords
The ruler of that land
Which is in the east
His name is King Selassie
Hear me when I say, yeah
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa - Jah!
(.)
Babylon them, they want to take away
The Ark of the Covenant from ya
The Ark of the Covenant
Cannot be taken away
From Addis Ababa, respect!
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa
Hear me when I say
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa
King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Ruler of creation
His name is King Selassie
Mussolini tried to invade Ethiopia
But the Conqueror
His name is King Selassie
Rule and respect!
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa
Chant with I and say
There is a land far, far away
It's called Addis Ababa

This song for all of us as a black nation one love from Ethiopia 🇪🇹
This is supposed to be the message of true prophets of the Almighty Jehovah Nissi. They’re called Rastafarians but they sound more spiritual than us who claim to be Christians, truth be told. I want Christians to know that the Almighty God has truely made us watchmen to pull down the walls of crime and evil, particularly in my country, where we magnify evil and pet political crimes by claiming that we’re praying for our leaders.May God help us to understand His ways more. God bless Joseph (culture), in Jesus mighty name-amen.
amen
I'm so blessed and privileged to have visited Addis Ababa while travelling to Kenya. God bless all conscious Africans and the ones unfortunately still asleep in the continent and in the diaspora. Nuff respect Culture and rest in power Joseph Hill. Surplus love from Nigeria 🇳🇬
