A micro habit that I started recently is I keep a basket full of small bottled water in my office next to my desk(refill it on Sunday). This encourages me to reach over and get one right before and after my cup of coffee. Two bottles down before lunch time(yaaay) and this definitely has increased my water intake while working.
Bobbie, This is an inspiring video. Here are some of my micro habits. I keep my house and car keys in a cute basket on a shelf that is the first thing I see when I walk into my home. For me exercise is a tough one so I have a small dumbbell near my bathroom sink so when I’m brushing my teeth (with an electric toothbrush), I do biceps curls with my opposite hand (and switch hands halfway through my tooth brushing. I live in a 18-story apartment so when I’m in the elevator alone, I do stretches to help keep my back from tightening up. I also keep iced water (in one of those thermal containers that keeps the liquid cold for 24 hours) next to my bed so that I will drink water before I go to sleep and first thing in the morning. Keep up for the great organizing videos. I find these most helpful. New subscriber from Hawaii.
We keep our dog leash, harness, and my walking shoes right by the front door. Every time I walk into / out of the house I have to look at it. Micro habit/reminder to take the dog on a walk. I put it there a month ago and since then I’ve been walking the dog daily. Even if it’s just 10 min it’s a habit that helps my dog, helps my body (move), and helps my mental health!
One of my habits is to do my bible reading/devotion early am as soon as I attend to my dogs, even before coffee! If I start to make coffee, I tend to get distracted by things of the day and then don't have enough time to do my reading before work. Time seems to go by so quickly in the morning! LOL! I usually take a container of water with me all of the time, even if I am just out running errands.
Great video Bobbie! My micro habits I’ve already started but I am going to be more diligent about. 1. Bring a bottle of water with me when I run errand and drink it all before I get home! 2. Park truck furthest from store so I have to walk further, plus it prevents dings on my new truck lol. 3. Don’t allow myself to drink a cup of coffee until I’ve had a bottle of water. That’s a start! 💜😘👍🌸
Those are great! I like the how you set it to finish the bottle of water before you go home. Of course, that would make me shop more so I have more time - 😳.
I love this! Intentional living. Thank you for the inspiration. By the way, I am pelvic floor physical therapist and several of the tips you gave are things I encourage my patients to do. Great job!
Bobbie thank you for these helpful tips. Thanks especially for sharing your faith. I’ve been leaning on Jesus more and more as I get older. Prayer is so powerful 💕
My micro habit will be leaving my workout clothes on my dresser so that they are right there to grab first thing in the morning. I've fallen out of the habit of exercising every morning, and in the time it takes me to walk to my closet and make a decision if I'm reaching for my workout clothes or regular clothes I can make excuses. If my workout clothes are right to hand then it's easier to just put them on. P.S. I shared your channel in my monthly favourites video; I've so been enjoying your videos.
Love the idea of using bathroom breaks to fit in a bit of exercise at work! I'm heading back to work in April after working from home for over a decade, so the idea of taking a bit more control of my situation by fitting in little "secret" exercise breaks, somehow makes me really happy! Thanks for the idea! :)
And one "macro" habit I'll implement when back to work is walking on my breaks, and taking random stairs for a bit of exercise. I used to walk and do stairs when I worked at the hospital years ago, and it really helped keep the weight off, and really took very little effort. One good thing about going back to work. :)
I guess a micro habit I have is purposefully putting the alarm clock across the room so I have to get out of bed (and might as well stay up) instead of hitting snooze. I also have it tuned to a really annoying "pop" station that I don't like, so it makes me get out of bed that much more quickly to turn off the noise. :)
Hi, Bobbie. I found your channel yesterday when I scrolled the home page. So, I watched the vid you linked. I’m tickled to be here. (I liked and subscribed choosing the option to receive all of them.) On January 1, I wrote a long list in a hardbound journal called, “Bring It In”. Lol I thought this year I would get really serious about everything I hadn’t previously. The habit list was long for the a.m. and p.m. Well, you guessed it; I didn’t continue. I didn’t even open the journal after 2 days. I want you to know yesterday’s vid was helpful. But, today’s was over the top helpful re: micro habits. It resonated with me. I actually got it!!! I’m working on one consistently for a week. Then the following week I’ll add another and do both. I’ll continue this pattern with the remaining micro habits (and big outcomes) I wish to have. I’ll also give myself grace. I apologize for my wordy response. I’m sad today because a Christian girlfriend hurt me badly. I was shocked. I’m also a Christian. I followed the Biblical principles in God’s Word. And, I forgave her. Okay, my first micro habit is to consistently pray for her and others. Jacqueline
Hi Jacqueline - I'm so sorry someone hurt you. I'm glad you were able to forgive - not easy - I know! I love how you are implementing a plan that is manageable. Your first micro habit is awesome!!!
Good for you, Jacqueline! I heard a wonderful quote yesterday about forgiveness. "Forgiving someone does not mean that person was right, it just sets you free!"
My mirco habit has now lasted 3 years. I never drank enough water so one year as a resolution I said id drink more water. Anytime I ordered my coffee at starbucks Id ask for a free venti ice water. I was already stopping, and paying for my coffee anyway. Saved me a trip and having well water at home can turn you off drinking water.
I love your idea about fitness bathroom breaks, thank-you! Although I need to be more consistent, I try to drink a large glass of water every 2 hours, so I am up at 5am I would drink one then, and again at 7am, 9am and so on. Odd or even hours depending on when I am up that day.
Great idea, Bobbie!! I love this!! I want to pray for people first thing in the morning. I want to focus my mind on the blessings God gives to me everyday and weed out negative thoughts. I am a full time bank teller and I want to focus on standing more instead of sitting down. Thank you, Bobbie for your inspiration!! You are such a blessing to me!!
@@MindfulMidlife Awwww! Thank you! No one was replying/liking so I thought they weren't interested so I stopped. I will get back into it. Thank you, Bobbie!
DING! Another bell went off in my brain. Thank you so much for doing these videos. My memory is gone along with my ability to think straight since I got Congestive Heart Failure. I'm having so much trouble doing things, but if I break them down into Micro Habits maybe I could cope better. I'll use the index card idea for a bunch of things, then I'll just have to remember to look at them.
Thank you, Mrs. Bobbie. I am using my Apple watch to signal me to move. I sit at a desk for 12 hours a day so this alert is reminding me to stand up and move every hour.
I just wanted to say that I think you're adorable! I bought a 32oz mug and I take it with me everywhere. It makes it easy to consume enough water because I know I just need to fill it up twice and drink it to fill my quota.
This is fun. After listening to you I've realised I already do a few micro habits. I pray for the day and myself each morning before I get out of bed. I always take my vitamins during breakfast. The first time I get in the car for the day I pray for each member of my family. As I make a cup of tea I fill out my planner etc. I am going to add the micro habit of drinking a glass of water when I take my medicine first thing in the morning and I like the lunges idea too, I will have to think of what I could link it too. Thanks for the video. - Jerusha
I'm so happy I found this channel. You're so inspiring and encouraging. I'm a crossing guard and I work a split shift. I have a giant cup of water waiting for me in the car. On my way home I sip until it's gone. I didn't realize how much I depended on that until I fell on Christmas break and my water intake declined.
My micro habit will be to put my moisturizing lotion where I can see it as soon as I exit the shower. I tend to forget or omit moisturizing my skin. Hopefully my micro habit will help my skin care.
Bobbie, you are very pretty inside and out. I can tell you have peace. I originally looked you up to find out success stories on WW's. Your teeth are absolutely perfect. My hat is off to your dentist!!
Just set computer reminder again, use to have it set, but not under that title micro., but your rgt., we do micros, everyday. Just going to implement some that are more geared to micro exercise & stretch in Hope's to work up to some cardio, much needed. Thanks. new Micros here I come. LeLe fr: Cali; ☀️😎
I have a 40oz Hydroflask at work. I fill it when getting my first coffee. Every time I go to the bathroom I take a loop around the floor - so take the longest way back to my desk. Now I need to come up with something to get me away from my desk for at least 15 mins mid-day. I try and bring my healthy lunch every day but then that tends to cause me to never take a break other than the bathroom. If I don’t bring my lunch I walk across the courtyard to the deli so get the walk but then don’t eat as well :-/

Good idea to tune it to something you don't like! I like pop music so I'd have to make it be rap or scream-o!

I love your channel. All your topics are so interesting.
Your Micro Habits Video is most helpful! Most inspiring!
You are wise, you’re a blessing
Thank you for the suggestions of micro-habits. It seems manageable and hopefully it will be easier to do.
I read somewhere that its best to have water before anything else every morning before coffee etc. Better for stomach.
Love your videos 🙌
This is good for us all or nothing thinkers 🤦🏻♀️
You look so pretty!!! I have some bad micro habits I need to get rid of for sure! Can always add some good ones, thank you🙂
Wonderful video and content. Thank you! Just what I need to hear today.

Hiya Bobbie, great video. You have given me food for thought. Now thinking about micro habits. Great idea. Thank you. Carolyn from Western Australia
Hello Carolyn, Glad this was helpful! I've been praying for your country!
Oh no, I hope you are healing quickly. You have an important job!
@@MindfulMidlife Sorry, I meant "came upon" not literally fell. I'm fine, thank you!
Haha, ok! Glad you are ok!
My micro habit will be to put my moisturizing lotion where I can see it as soon as I exit the shower. I tend to forget or omit moisturizing my skin. Hopefully my micro habit will help my skin care.
That is exactly what I did about a year ago and I believe it’s one of the reasons my face is doing so much better.
I definitely need to develop a micro habit to drink more water. Can I just copy all your micro habits? I need to implement all of them.
Copy away my friend!!
Great video Bobbie ❤
By the way, I absolutely love your sweater!
Thank you. It’s from Eddie Bauer and it’s so cozy!

You have a good system!
Could you walk to the deli or around the courtyard then eat the healthy lunch you packed when you get back to your desk?
You forgot to add your list🙂🙂
Oh bother 🤦♀️! I just edited it. Thanks!
Eat something green every day
Nice video, and you didn’t say Yay or Super once! 😝
