Probably like you said, better velocity down low on the non-hemi and better flow up top with the hemi. I can always tell its the Ghost motor in your videos without reading the title because of the signature top end sputter. Good work, keep on scootin'.
Hands down my favorite mini bike RUclips channel👍🏻
Thank you! I appreciate it. Thanks for watching the videos!
Black 66 you need to try the predator 224 head on it, it has way bigger ports
The Predator 224 is actually a Ducar 212 with a 58mm stroker crank...you are correct on the port size.
Hands down my favorite youtuber right here! Thank you!
Really cool vid. I have a ghost and it runs pretty good for the $$ I paid. I recently built a 224 with the Ducar head and a big cam. Wasn't happy with launch or take off power, so I played with different head gasket thicknesses while measuring for valve to piston clearance and in doing this allowed me to use a thinner gasket and bump up compression a little and helped with bottom end power. Maybe make a informative vid also IMO. Thanks for the great vids as always
That’s a cool comparison and not what I would have thought on the out come. Everyone touts the hemi as the better stock head but it the 212 has something to offer. Seems to have good port velocity but not enough flow to keep up with the he air demands in the higher rpms. It would be neat to see what the 224 head would do since it has bigger ports.
thats a great idea, i suggested port/polish, bigger valves, etc as well.
but I didnt know a 224 head would fit a 212.
224 head is just a standard 212 head.
@@jacobneymeiyer9091 it is as far as chamber size and fitment. For the heads I have here the port size is larger on the 224 head.
That was cool as hell. I never miss one of your videos thanks
Nice bike! Thanks for making this test. Good video :) You're absolutely right you never know until you test it.
cool tinkering around and showing noticeable improvements so we can get haulin ayus down the road so we can run to the miLL i heard Red Beard and his possee talking about run to the miLL too Hmmm lol
You do great work with these engines.
In my opinion the hemi style head flows slightly better on top end for more hp as to where the predator head flows better at bottom end for more torque
LOVE your videos !
Thanks! Thanks for watching!
I would really like to know what the combustion chamber size is for both. It could be that the flat head has a smaller Cc combustion chamber (higher compression ratio). So even though it does not flow as well at higher rpm, it is making a bit more hp and torque in lower revs. Interesting test. Thanks for running it for us!
I did just measure my tillotson 212’s Hemi head the other day with a measuring syringe and filled it till it was perfectly filled with water and got 21cc’s for that head and backed it up to make sure it really was 21cc’s. I haven’t measured my non-Hemi 212 yet but I’m pretty darn certain that it’s a 22cc casting.
My guess is the standard head has a smaller combustion chamber. Higher compression.
Good job on all your vids btw.
Check out the Ghost playlist for many more combos on the ghost! Thanks for watching!ruclips.net/video/5Grizcea_Ug/видео.html
From what I’ve been learning about these , non hemi’s have a little smaller valves
You have it backwards.....they both have 27mm intake valves, Non hemi has 25mm exhaust valve , Hemi has 24mm exhaust valve.
Would you do a spark plug comparison? Stock versus high performance.
The weight of the Ghost/Ducar’s rockers is somewhat moot as they are shaft mounted and not resting on the valves and pushrods. The bulk of the weight which is at the centerline is supported by that shaft. The valves however are longer by about 5/16” and the pushrods are longer as well increasing their weight. The coil is limited to 6000 and the cam is larger than stock from what I understand. The increase in torque is from the smaller chamber and addition of quench. What head gasket did you use?
I replaced the coil and added a billet flywheel in this video. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/lm6zTvhJHSk/видео.html
You put out some good videos
Thank you!
Man great video! You got me wanting to swap some stuff around on my ghost. I haven’t really ran mine very much since I got it. Used it for a back up when I had to pull my built 224 off to work on it and I can say it was nowhere near what the 224 is but it’s a stock ghost
224 is definitely the better motor, the ghost name is cool and that's about it lol the only reason I see to get one is if you need that set up to race in a specific class.
Still on the stock ghost rod?
My ghost piston rod broke and i was gonna replace it with a predator rod but it was bigger, do you think i could throw it on and it would work with its predator head?
Best youtuber
Have you tried the ghost head on the 212? wonder if there is any benefits to that kind of swap.
I need a set of those handlebars lol.
Did you happen to record the difference in rpm in this swap? Just wondering if it got valve float sooner with the OG 212 head vs the ghost or if it did pull more rpm but still yielded a slower speed. Cool test always enjoy the videos, Thanks.
I've been wondering about your gas tank setup I'm trying to find a clean way to mount a tank like you have in the v of my frame how do you have your mount setup I'd really appreciate it
Homemade mounts. I have a video on it. I'll put out shortly.
Nice to know 👍👍👍
Another good video! Do you have any bikes with a live axle? I've been looking for one but I can't really find any good ones? I want to do a live axle for myself because I'm 240lbs! Fat guy little bike🤣
i could not tell you 100% without doing a few tests, such as the amount of compression, the volume of the compressed cyl, the port intake and exhaust dia for both.. and things like the spring weight of the ghost, weight of the valve train..
i personally think (in my experience) you are gaining rpm because of the lighter valve train, but losing max output because the ghost head probably has a better compression ratio, head volume, and better port sizing/finishing.
i bet with light valve parts, re lapped for bigger valves, and ported out maybe a bit bigger. make sworls on the intake, and try to finish the exhaust smooth to promote smooth and increased flow.
you'll end up with higher rev range, and quicker revs.
it also leads me to believe that the longer rods are for a different ratio on the rocker, meaning its flowing a lot more fuel air per cycle, but is slower, while the stock with AM springs can start flowing it more quickly, but ultimately flows less over all.
i hope that makes sense to you.
what springs does the ghost 212 come stock with
Black 66 what happens if a motor has a mikuni but it still has the governor on, does it break?
Hey, I have a DB30 with a stock hemi predator and a 196 off a Coleman bt200x. My question is does the 196 have a smaller combustion chamber and can you take the head off the 196 and put it on the hemi for more compression?
It does have a smaller combustion chamber and will bolt right on. I did the 196 head on my 212 hemi. I shaved the head .020", ported both ports and dimpled the intake port. I also ran dual valve springs in mine with a .010" head gasket along with a port matched intake, vm22 carb and a exhaust. But it made a world of a difference. A lot more power from idle all the way till the end of the power band. A stock 212 hemi doesnt even compare to the swap/head work. I highly recommend the non hemi head
@@boostedeghb thank you sir, I tried to Google it a while back and really didn't find an answer thank you
Im thinking the engine performance is being restricted. Needs more air flow. Try a Mikuni 24mm, and you may need to rejet it. My RT200 will do 59mph. Preditor 212 Hemi engine
Check out the playlists.I have quite a few videos with the Hemi and the 24MM flatslide. Thanks for watching!
Stock coil? It has a rev limit @6k
The stock coil was changed out in this video. Check it out, thanks for watching! ruclips.net/video/lm6zTvhJHSk/видео.html
Hey black66 i hope you are doing good i was wondering if having a bigger chain is better because im running on #35 chain but i was thinking about getting a bigger one like a #40 but i don't know if it's worth it
Bigger is better but if you are going to run a 35-chain run RLV gold on gold chain. It is wider and stronger and also pre stretched.
Just talking numbers....Non Hemi head has 25mm exhaust valve and a smaller cc combustion chamber as opposed to the Hemi head which has a 24mm exhaust valve and a bigger combustion chamber, less compression and less valve area. They both have 27mm intake valves. The Ghost also has a rev limiter of 6000 rpm built into the coil.
This Ghost has a billet flywheel with the rev limiter removed. Here is the video, check it out!
Thanks for watching!ruclips.net/video/lm6zTvhJHSk/видео.html
What gps app do you use?
I use digiHUD on the phone along with the camera GPS for top speed and a Dragy performance meter for 0 to 30
Dose anyone knows what size springs comes in the ghost?
Hey I’m trying to figure out the best clutch &rear sprocket combo for max speed straight chain with a 224 predator and a 19in tire your help and opinions would be greatly appreciated!
smaller combustion chamber=more compression
I don't think it's port velocity but compression. Hemi heads are known to be soft down low. But they make up for it on the top end.
Now would a ported hemi beat out a ported non hemi 🤔 that's the question if you ask me.
Also I think you will see even more differences when you start going up in carburetor size.
Has a 6000rpm rev limit in the coil Change it out you will hit 63-6400rpm
Already removed the rev limiter in this video. Check it out! ruclips.net/video/lm6zTvhJHSk/видео.html
My minibike just got stolen
That was a
Compression
Port and polish some heads
I did a port and polish in this build video ,check it out. Thanks for watching! ruclips.net/video/wHIKyVU4oxw/видео.html
