Did a top speed run and 0 to 30 test with the Predator 212 powered Azusa Minibike to get a baseline with the 212 Predator. Installed a Predator Ghost engine with a Billet flywheel and did the same test to compare the difference.

      I'm 74 and back in 1950's our 3 HP Briggs&Stratton minibike did 35 and 4 HP did 45... so these speeds seem low for 6 1/2 - 11 HP...
Last minibike in 1968 had 350cc 2 cylinder 2 cycle 4 gears motorcycle engine...

    • @Black66

@@BuzzLOLOL We used to run 3.5 Briggs back in the 1980's . It used to take forever to get to 35 MPH with a 3.5 horse.. The bikes these days get to top speed in a couple of seconds. Makes it more fun in my opinion.

@@Black66 - Our minibikes were light, home brewed from electrical conduit. We had a minibike with 2 1/2 HP Tecumseh engine and a jackshaft for hill climbing power. It would go about 32 but was twisting 8,000+ RPMs... we had trouble keeping connecting rods in that engine... it was stock but seemed cammed up higher than the Briggs... torque was kind of flat until it got up to about 3,000 RPMs...
The 350cc minibike was really quick... throttle wheelies in first couple gears... and there's something about the stereo sound of dual exhausts on a minibike, one high muffler on each side... scrambler style for ground clearance... and the sensation of unlimited power...

Look a mini bike ! Wow i went out and got a new one from my local bicycle store when I was 12 years old. No suspension only one break with that little lawn mower engine. I remember it well. Then a couple of years later when I outgrew it I sold it to a friend and purchased my first Honda 400 Hawk. As the years progressed as I became more confident in my driving ability I increased to 750 class and so on. I honestly don't understand what the purpose owning a mini bike even if it goes 200 miles an hour. Once you reach a certain age. You can't go on the highway with it, it's not a dirt bike, it's extremely Limited to where you can drive it. You can't get a license for it, you can't get it insured. I don't know call me crazy.

They are much less expensive than motorcycles and are just as much fun. It's also fun being able to work on them and modify them myself unlike many motorcycles. Also most of the community of people around the minibike and kart hobby are very nice people.

Really cool video and nice to see how the upgrades worked. The two things that I would try to improve acceleration would be tighten up the clutch so it revs higher at takeoff and try to use a smaller rear sprocket to get the top speed. I would also love to see what difference a good carburetor would make like a nice Keihin. Maybe a cheap wideband to tune it in or old school just read the plug ;)

I have the exact same engine on my Mini bike. I let My girlfriend's Grandson ride it and I told him before he left "Do NOT Snap the throttle on this thing because if you do it will launch you in a 90° angle." What does he do? He snaps the throttle on it and lands on his a55 and scuffs himself up a little bit and breaks a couple of things on the Mini Bike. It's still ridable, but it's just the irritation of what happened and the fact that he didn't listen to me. But anyway, life goes on.

I remember as a kid growing up a friend's Dad built a centrifugal clutch system on his mini bike to where it utilized 2 centrifugal clutches and the one on the engine was geared lower than the clutch at the jackshaft and once the RPM was topped out the higher geared clutch at the jackshaft would engage and the mini bike would come up on a wheelie and it was pretty fun to ride. It was a mechanical 2 speed automatic transmission and i just thought about it now. What if you replaced that 4 Horsepower engine with one of these Ghost engines. That would be awesome and you could market it. I remember older guys would ride my friends mini bike and when it went into 2nd gear and the Front end came up. They would crash it and the seat would come off and we would all start laughing. Good Times

Which would be faster a built Tilly or a predator ghost? I’m looking to build

    • @Black66
      @Black66  10 месяцев назад

In my opinion the Tilly is a better buy because it is less expensive in the first place. The extra money can go towards mods. But either way they both are fun and that's what counts.

It's funny how much misinformation there is on this engine that keeps getting repeated by folks that have not pulled one apart. Some differences are minor, some are not.
At the least you'll want to do head, cam, carb and springs to match. I don't care either way whether people buy it, like it or not, or if it's better or worse than anything else.
Here's the facts on it's specs:
      The Ghost has:
      Ducar (Hemi) head
      22lb springs
Valves: 24.5mm (stainless) x 27mm (steel) combo. Standard for a hemi head, slightly larger than non hemi heads.
      Different cam profile.
      Digital ignition, 6200RPM limit
      Different (Iron) flywheel to suit
      22mm slide carb, branded "dekni"
5.5mm valve stems with 5.0mm keepers
      Oil filler on top
Exhaust valve relief on piston crown
