Manners is a masterpiece of groove, they complement each other so well, Kanami and Misa, Saiki and Miku and Akane binding everyone. with Miku's guitar adding so much. The acoustic concert is a banger, their own version of a old MTV unplugged.

“Saiki is very pretty” the understatement of the day 😂
Groovy, funky, progressive hard rock…creative, layered, beautiful. Band Maid puts more effort into this song than some “artists” put into an entire album.
The main riff here is reminiscent of “Free Your Mind,” by En Vogue. Band Maid brings back all the great memories of when music was meaningful. They are resurrecting and reinventing all the best sounds from the greatest rock eras.

Thank you for your reaction. Manners is my #1 Band Maid song but not because it is the best. Only on the same album it stands among giants like Giovanni, Black Hole, Why Why Why just to mention a few, but the MV was my first listen to the maids and it was the perfect song for me at that time. I was suggested Manners when I was searching for material from the all girl band Scandal, from Osaka, and if I would have heard let say Different or Rinne as my first song Band Maid song I may not have been equally interested as I'm coming from listening to slower types of music, think Peter Gabriel or Pink Floyd. Manners started my musical journey with the maids and it is therefore special to me and it is also a well written song closer to my old style of music. A few things:
    (1) I think the MV should have the bass slightly higher up in the mix. We can here it better on the online live and if you write a bassline like that, then it is also an important part of the composition. I'm not an expert but we have two official versions so we an easily compare the productions. I still love the MV though, the vocals are fantastic.
    (2) Champ of medium called it stoner rock in the reaction to the MV. I have no idea but I have no reason to doubt him.
    (3) Wave Potter used a tool to analyze instrument by instrument and it is well worth checking out as it gives a more clear picture how complex the bassline actually is.
I wrote in another channel that no maidiac should go through life without listen to Corallium so that song will be my suggestion.
    Have fun! :)
The happy gorilla wakes you up and the barefoot assassin takes you for a walk.

That Wave Potter analysis of the bass line is eye-opening!
MISA is playing an incredible counterpoint to😅 everyone else!

Sometimes a song is just a song. They have called Manners their core sound. Manners is a top tier song for me. It is closest to the rock I grew up with in the 60''s and 70's. Try Start Over next. It is their most pop sounding song. Your new mike sounds cleaner.

Can you imagine *MISA* being the lead guitarist and *Kanami* a the bassist what kind of crazy dynamics you would get 😊

Manners is one of those songs that falls off my radar, but then I fall back in love with it as soon as I hear it again.

Good Manners? Oh, yeah! Thanks lead guitarist Kanami for your compositions, and 2nd guitarist Miku for your lyrics, and everyone else for everything else. Like the unique, awesome outro, every Band-Maid song has a touch of class because the Maids have class. A remarkable, important band in so many aspects! "aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, aw, awesome!" Thx, Kam!

Seattle is a very special place for Band-Maid.
They performed overseas live for the first time and were welcomed by thousands of fans at 2016 Sakura-Con in Seattle. They'd been performing at small venues with a few hundred capacity in Japan at that time.
After the show, they said that they gained confidence in performing overseas live.
Btw, Manners is in my top 20 fav Band-Maid songs, and I like your new mic, it sounded better👍
For your next Band-Maid song reaction, I suggest Corallium.

Manners and Corallium are two songs that I was not really into on until I heard the live versions. So much more dynamic in the live.

Choose Me, Sense, or No God would be good next songs to go with imo. Choose Me is slightly older, it's a Domination/Dice era song, but it's probably their most well known song and you should definitely get to it at some point.

Manners reminds me of the the Seattle Pop-Punk scene before Grunge took over.
And MISA and Kanami many times will have contrasting solos played at the same time. And a few times, they will duel their solos and bridges as well.
And the new mic sounds much better.
The Chicago show was their 2022 US Tour final show. After the concert the Ladies went back stage and had a group hug and group cry. If you can find it, there is a video of Endless Story from this show, which shows just how emotional Akane got during it.
Manners original title was "Rule", but they changed it because it didn't really fit the message they wanted it to.

In fact, it seems to me that your opinion about manners strongly coincides with the opinion of the majority. This is a really good track, which no one will call bad or anything like that, but which is unlikely to become your favorite (most likely, banal because of the tempo; I even know youtubers who divide band-maid tracks into two categories: manners and black hole, slower and faster ahah). From the recommendations, I would suggest Sayonakidori from the album Unseen World 2021 (like Manners) or Unleash from the same name album/ep Unleash 2022 (which, to my taste, is the best of their entire discography). The microphone sounds great, much better than the previous one. Sometimes it even feels like ASMR is somehow happening ahah. And yes, Saiki is really pretty

Imagery? It means they won't clean your house, but they will clean your clock with their rock! . . . and water your plants. But MISA has always played Lead Bass. Kanami trusts Miku to hold down the Rhythm while she and MISA do the leads. MISA has always played a counter point to Kanami, even when they don't have a Call & Response "Battle". And yes! I, and just about everyone I know, has had the Koof this year and it's only January! And yes, my abs did hurt from coughing so much. And it did have a very Rona feel to it, and like the Cron, it lingers for weeks.

Manners is not one of my top favorites, but I don't skip it either. Also my preferred songs change over time. Recently I've been really loving I Still Seek Revenge and Honkai from the same album. I wish they could make videos for all their songs!
I was going to recommend to you "Choose Me", but I suppose there's a chance that Saiki's solo piano version might find its way to RUclips once the new Blu-ray of the Yokahama Arena concert gets released. So maybe better to wait on a reaction to that song.
"Sense" might be a good recommendation, because there's both official music video and official live to watch. On the other hand, I wonder if you'd like to go back the song you heard part of with the Gold Rush interview, "Alone"; you thought it was written for the band, but it was actually their first released self-written song, and it's still one of my favorites.
One more thing... if you want to explore Manners further (not suggesting for reaction), the Wave Potter channel has analyzed the song quite a bit, including listening to all the isolated instrumental and vocal tracks.

I was a metalhead until 2003, then i took a year off from music and did a reset. After that i discovered female vocals all the mainstream pop singers were my new love, then i got into EDM on top of that (i became a raver) and then Band-Maid came along ROCKING POP PRINCESSES! your right rock took a wrong turn, i am so over all that angry goth monster make-up clown noise.
    Rant over 😊

I agree with your sentiment that Band-Maid is where rock needs to go. Band-Maid largely feels like they're from an alternate reality where rock, punk, metal and pop music of the mid-2000's evolved from the simple catchy riffs to add more intricate fusions of those genres together and bringing back guitar solos, whereas in this reality rock is dead and instrumentation has been replaced by computer generated beats.

For me, maybe their biggest 'gap' song? How odd it is to match this this groovy, bluesy rock song to 5 Japanese women wearing maid dresses. For many bands that try to play this style as a matter of course, this would probably be their best song.

I kind of like that the acoustic version has no bass. The bass owns this song, which means that without the bass the song is a completely different thing, if you know what I mean. Like two songs instead of the same song.

That is a sign of great musicianship. The MV is more straight rock. The live is more blues rock. I am sure they could do a trash or punk version.
